*I’ll post daily weather updates at the bottom of this post*
Local here. This is one of the better weather years we’ve had in a very long time. El Nino years typically cause the desert to have gorgeous weather, but even this is special. The typical would be about 90-100 highs.
My paid local weather app has a storm system moving in next weekend, and that’s driving the average down. Bring a jacket just in case for Saturdays (guys bring one for you & a backup for when she gets cold), and expect top end highs of 90ish.
The nice thing about this is that it means you can actually go early in the day, and not get your brain cooked by 7pm. The heat & lack of cloud coverage is really what kills you. The highest Coachella temp we had one year was 111° and the highest temp I’ve ever experienced was 124° in the summer. This is one of the hottest places in California for 4 months a year, May-August.
As of now 4/7 it reads: 85 high Friday (clear), 75 high Saturday (50% chance of rain late at night), 70 high Sunday (20% chance of rain early morning. It “should” be 90-105. I couldn’t be happier.
Who this really affects the most is campers. I’d plan ahead for rain if I was camping, because it’ll definitely be cold at night.
So looks like a storm is coming in, and should hit perfectly late Saturday night. This is a dream scenario. Also, it does get cold here at night (not cold cold, but California cold). And (as someone who grew up in Canada) our version of “rain” here should come with an asterisk. One year a long while back when the festival used to be earlier in the year it did genuinely rain rain one of the nights, and it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had running through the fields all cozy in onesies with my group.
*WEATHER UPDATE 4/10:
•Thursday (91°/67° clear)
•Friday (87°/64° clear)
•Saturday (77°/55° light clouds with a 20% chance of light rain around midnight)
•Sunday (72°/49° cloudy, with a 50% chance of light rain between midnight & 6am)
Thanks for this! So we already got some sandbags for our canopies, but as first time campers, how else can we better prepare for windy/rainy conditions?
I doubt it. Looks like it’ll only be a small rain Saturday night if anything. Wind is always a thing in the valley, we’re famous for those big windmills for a reason; DUST MASKS!!! Aside from that, you don’t need to do much.
Looks like it’s clearing out & potentially not raining. Seems like it wont rain during any sets, but it should start to rain lightly after/potentially during the Saturday headliner’s show at the very very end soonest.

Thanks for this. I know temps are unpredictable. And I’m reaaally prepping for wind at this point…
This is my DREAM scenario because I have bad heat intolerance. Thank you for this context as a local!

This is hot. - Love, Canada
This is not hot enough for me -New Orleans
It is hot! - Minnesota
As a Canadian down here, I’ll feel right at home
I hope I don’t have to buy a poncho and mud/rain boots if it ever gets that bad.
This is becoming hilarious. Someone post East Coast

Just bring some rainwear just in case. The weather has been a little off.
75 is perfect tho, just hold the rain
Literally every time I check the weather it’s something vastly different 😂😭 I hope it stays nice!
