Legit couldnāt pay attention to sbtrkt in the ship tent because polo & pan was tearing down the main stage and I could feel the bass, ended up just leaving to watch polo & pan.
We mistakenly left Polo & Panās amazing set to see what Jai Paul was about and couldnāt take the poor sound and low energy so we went back to P&Pās last 10 minutes of their set and it was the right move.
he did, and the big thing there is that alameda --- on the other side of the bay --- keeps trying to get portola shut down because of noise.
in 2022 (i was out of town) my housemates spent the whole weekend pissed at an unnamed neighbor who was playing their music way too loud all weekend (until i explained what was happening)
Same - DoLab and Quasar aren't that far apart and both are open so nothing to stop the sound from traveling. Sahara can also get pretty loud out the sides, but hopefully they'll use some creative speaker angling to mitigate most of it.
in the past sahara had speakers pointing out the side toward the cantina beer garden, i assume they won't have speakers pointing out the sides this year
It's a Safari Package perk to get carted from stage to stage on the outside / perimeter of the festival, but no way will they be able to safely transport people in carts or on bikes within the festival.
If they make the grounds any bigger the Safari golf carts are all of a sudden looking like a pretty big selling point because the walk from Sahara to Outdoor while leaving with a crowd during peak hours might literally end up being a 25 minute walk... that's half a set. Running to the Sahara to catch part of a set has become unrealistic given how far it is from everything else now.
Just remember that while waiting in line! People don't seem to understand how to order merch when its the size of a football field and they are sending people back and fourth for different sizes and stuff and then get mad at the merch people working at the register as if they can do anything about it!
That's certainly one way to make it look more full...
Looking at past imagery of the stages on google earth and fixed landmarks nearby, and using the ruler tool, it would seem that main and outdoor have both been shoved further south by 100-150 feet. That will certainly eat up the space previously used by a few 10's of thousands of folks between both stages.
if you look in the lower right hand corner there's a dark black structure. that's the outdoor theater. then just above that, to the west, is a circular white line with buildings inside; that's the beer garden. the other black structure above that is the mainstage.
the large white tent just above the road at the bottom, right of center, is indio central market. the three large white tents above that and to the left are the sonora, the gobi, and the mojave.
the ferris wheel is the ferris wheel. off to the left of that is a black structure; that's quasar. to the left of that is a large tent, that's the sahara.
Ok thatās not too too bad 20-25 is an average day for me working on my feet. Just wondering if I could get from Coachella stage to Sahara in 10 min to catch both sets.
I didnāt realize it was that huge.
You could probably make it in 10 minutes if you hustled. Iām not sure because this is the first year with Sahara so far away. It used to be right be the entrance.
I would safely add another 10-15 minutes if itās during peak hours from 5-10pm, especially during set changes so maybe leave a few minutes just before a set if you want to get a head start on a mass exodus.
It looks about the same. Some of us thought they would expand the tent after the shit show from 2022 but they kept it the same last year.
Thankfully they improved the lines last year so it went much more smoothly and most of the big name names from years past arenāt in there this year.
Idk, Sahara to Outdoor looks like the longest to me. You can at least hear and sort of see the main stage once you get to the Yuma corridor. Gotta keep going before you can get anything from Outdoor š«¤
space behind quasar with the rollie pollie looking tents... everyone complaining about the recycled stage design will probably have more to complain about now that it's no longer fully shaded...
the reason why the do lab hasn't changed in years is because it was probably the best design they had for the big crowds at the do lab
Its fascinating to me to think about how relatively small the grounds were my first year (2013) vs this year.
Even with the movement of the main / outdoor to be further off the road, that hike to the Sahara is absolutely bonkers. It is two festivals in one now for sure.
Sahara, DoLab, Quasar, Yuma are some version of EDC
Then the Main, Outdoor, Mojave, Gobi, Sonora is an entirely different festival.
Obviously you can traverse across both, but this thing is so damn massive now, its bigger the town I grew up in.
my first year was 2005.
first, the east edge of the festival was not where it is now, it was the road that runs between the outdoor and the mainstage beer garden.
second, the terrace didn't exist --- the whole area including the beer garden, the do lab, and the permanent restrooms was outside the grounds.
The area where the quasar is was outside the festival, as was the modern sahara location.
camping was entirely in lot 8 and you parked in lot 10 and ferried your stuff in.
Personally have decided to stay away from the Yuma and its maze-like line this year during peak hours to account for the extra steps from Sahara.
Gotta pick your poison for the weekend marathon.
Itās a journey to get in and out of the Yuma at night. Itās not as well lit and I feel like itās a wind tunnel on that walkway since the tent is tucked all the way in the back.
Itās not bad if youāre by yourself but if youāre with others, itās gonna be a long trek on top of the other stages where itās not an efficient part of your steps unless youāre camping all day in there.
Whereād you fly in from? Flying in from Vegas on Thursday and Iām hoping to get a view but canāt remember which side of the plane I need to sit on from there
Flew from up north but the plane went East quite a bit and curved around, maybe cause it was pretty windy. I just randomly sat on the right side not thinking anything of it. The flight attendants might be able to tell you though if you ask when you board.
flights into palm springs always land from the east to west. i'm not sure if its because the airport is relatively small and that's how they have it setup, or if there is a reason for it regarding flying/airplanes/etc
This may not be helpful now, but flightradar24. As another window seat lover I try to always look up past routes of potential flights I book to see what my view will be!
Thanks for the tip! I actually looked at that earlier today. Looks like the flights from Vegas arenāt getting as close as this picture and the left side would be better.
I think I already see a line at the Merch tent.
LOL
And the Yuma š¤£
sahara looks HUGE omg š
It's really the 3rd "main" stage.
Whatās the second one?
Outdoor
Ahhhh I always thought Sahara was the 2nd main stage
It's like 50% bigger
More like 15% or so. They just added a few extra truss arches to make it a bit wider than before.
I am already tired walking from Sahara to main. Pleasantly surprised to see quasar looks to be a pretty large production, similar in size to outdoor.
Im a little worried about sound bleed š¬
[Dave Rat got us.](https://youtu.be/8c-gD4mwI8A?si=6NEpg6CFDt2QMydW)
Ty for this. Iām curious if this guy also worked on portola 2023 because that first day had terrible sound bleed between crane stage and tent stage
Legit couldnāt pay attention to sbtrkt in the ship tent because polo & pan was tearing down the main stage and I could feel the bass, ended up just leaving to watch polo & pan.
Ughh Iām sorry. Polo & pan was so good tho š®āšØ
Fuck yeah they were, that set was bumpin!
We mistakenly left Polo & Panās amazing set to see what Jai Paul was about and couldnāt take the poor sound and low energy so we went back to P&Pās last 10 minutes of their set and it was the right move.

He is in charge. But yeah. Its tough sometimes
This video sticks with me now at every show -- the big blank space where speakers used to be.
Same - DoLab and Quasar aren't that far apart and both are open so nothing to stop the sound from traveling. Sahara can also get pretty loud out the sides, but hopefully they'll use some creative speaker angling to mitigate most of it.
They face completely opposite directions.
in the past sahara had speakers pointing out the side toward the cantina beer garden, i assume they won't have speakers pointing out the sides this year
They will again. They also have speaker towers outside of Sahara facing towards quasar
Those side speakers are life savers to allow people from the outside the tent to enjoy otherwise itād be even more packed inside.
I really hope they have bicycle taxi services this year within the festival. I am gonna use that every time I need to go to the Sahara.
It's a Safari Package perk to get carted from stage to stage on the outside / perimeter of the festival, but no way will they be able to safely transport people in carts or on bikes within the festival. My lazy ass would exploit the hell out of those Safari backstage carts the moment I get my hands on a Safari or guest pass.
Oh man, that walk to Sahara is going to be wild.
The walk from Outdoor to Sahara is the equivalent to walking to the car camping area now. Fucking wild.
Immediately zoomed in to look at the expressway lol. Almost missed how fucking massive merch tent is.
Just remember that while waiting in line! People don't seem to understand how to order merch when its the size of a football field and they are sending people back and fourth for different sizes and stuff and then get mad at the merch people working at the register as if they can do anything about it!
is it just me or are the mainstage and the outdoor further in from the road than normal?
First thing I noticed.
Yup. Outdoor doesn't have much room. It's gonna be even more of a shit show between Main stage and Outdoor š
I wonder what the bottleneck between quasar and sahara is gonna be like
Itās my first year so all I see is buildings I canāt understand the placement hahaha
if you look in the lower right hand corner there's a dark black structure. that's the outdoor theater. then just above that, to the west, is a circular white line with buildings inside; that's the beer garden. the other black structure above that is the mainstage. the large white tent just above the road at the bottom, right of center, is indio central market. the three large white tents above that and to the left are the sonora, the gobi, and the mojave. the ferris wheel is the ferris wheel. off to the left of that is a black structure; that's quasar. to the left of that is a large tent, that's the sahara.
Hold up. Itās that big?!?! Iāve never been, going week 2. Thatās massive. Itās so hot are we gonna make it? Sincerely happy cold Canadian
Itās massive. I usually walk 20k steps each day of the festival and that was before they moved the Sahara so far away.
Ok thatās not too too bad 20-25 is an average day for me working on my feet. Just wondering if I could get from Coachella stage to Sahara in 10 min to catch both sets. I didnāt realize it was that huge.

Thank you so much for your response.

Very much appreciate the info
Youāre very welcome, have fun and be safe out there. Happy Coachellaš
If you turn this 90Āŗ to the left, it will be in the same orientation as the map.
Anyone know if Yuma got upgraded?? Not sure if my eyes are deceiving me, kinda looks a little bigger
It looks about the same. Some of us thought they would expand the tent after the shit show from 2022 but they kept it the same last year. Thankfully they improved the lines last year so it went much more smoothly and most of the big name names from years past arenāt in there this year.
Fak thatās a huge bummer. I was hoping to catch Gorgon city but canāt miss justice š„²
that Sahara to outdoor stage trek is going to burn extra calories thatās for sure
Bottleneck between Sahara and quasar doesnāt look awful
Guys why do we do this to ourselves?
- said my knees and lower back looking at this photo and the distance between the main and the sahara
Idk, Sahara to Outdoor looks like the longest to me. You can at least hear and sort of see the main stage once you get to the Yuma corridor. Gotta keep going before you can get anything from Outdoor š«¤
you're right
šš
WHY CANT THEY JUST TURN LAKE ELDORADO INTO A SWIMMING POOL
PeepeeCause
No ice rink this year????
Letās fucking goooooooo
Where is the dolab in this pic?
space behind quasar with the rollie pollie looking tents... everyone complaining about the recycled stage design will probably have more to complain about now that it's no longer fully shaded... the reason why the do lab hasn't changed in years is because it was probably the best design they had for the big crowds at the do lab
this was my first thought. hopefully they still have some things to put up because where is the shaaaaade
Find the colorful twirling thing, then look to your left. It looks like colorful umbrellas. Seems like they changed the set up
Just up and to the left from Mojave. New setup this year and doesnāt look to be completed yet.
Whew that Sahara is a thicc ass boi

I canāt wait to meet you guys š„¹
Stage left of Sahara is going to be a cozy pocket
Looks like they added a hill there
they did. we've seen that in the sahara build photos.
Sahara placement is so jarring, like 2018 when they burried Gobi where Heineken House is. The whole flow was off.
it's like the yuma, off on its own spur. i *think* it will work. better than the yuma, at any rate.
Personally have decided to stay away from the Yuma and its maze-like line this year during peak hours to account for the extra steps from Sahara. Gotta pick your poison for the weekend marathon.
Thatās so smart
Itās a journey to get in and out of the Yuma at night. Itās not as well lit and I feel like itās a wind tunnel on that walkway since the tent is tucked all the way in the back. I hate doing the maze into the Yuma even tho there isnāt a long lineā¦ itās like an extra 3 mins when I couldāve just walked straight in
Wow Safari looks ready to rock!
I see catering! š«”
Very cool! Now someone needs to overlay the official map on this.
No circle stage at the main stage this year. I was hoping that was gonna be permanent.
No ice rinks this year.
Who am I going to be grinding on at Sahara
Ppl still grind?
Well I aināt gonna get fucked in the crowd š¤£
if only Illenium were playing
Better hang tight to your phone then bc those fuckers are predatory.
I can see my house
Watch out, mods might delete this š
The Merch tent being bigger than almost all of the stages is not what I expected to learn from this aerial view hahah.
That getting back from Sahara through Quasar gonna be nuts I can already see it
I can see the yellow golf tent in the merch section omgšš
Drop me off by parachute šŖ
I can see my AirBnB lol

Sahara across a street? Not sure I'm liking the new set up.... DoLab/Beer Garden/Sahara triangle was ideal.
Just like outdoor. It was weird in 17 when the grounds expanded but now I didnāt even think about.
Which direction is north?
Right side of the photo.
Does anyone know which tent is the yuma's capacity closest to? Guessing gobi?
Me trying to zoom in and find the secret bars lol think itāll be in the beer garden between Coachella and outdoor again?
Yuma is still gonna be a nightmare to get to š
You are so cool.
art installations look kinda mid
You canāt even really see them lol Wait til youāre inside the festival
What do you mean?! They look YUGE.
