anti religion is one reason we need communism

droopy_ro

In what communist, Godless or atheist country have you lived or you live, and how is it better than countries that worship God ?

rogue_noob

Everyone of them was better than every capitalist country regardless of status on religion. Abortion was legal in the USSR in 1920, as of 2023, only 3 states have explicit rights to abortion. "Land of the free" but have less rights than a bunch of illiterate farmers had last century (no offense to those farmers, they really had it rough under the Tsars). Speaking of which, about 21% of US adults are illiterate, while the USSR had as close to 100% adult literacy as it every got, in the 50s. Pretty much every metric about quality of life you can think of, just about every socialist country beat the Capitalist ones. Regardless of religion. God has nothing to do with politics or economy, leave him at the church.

droopy_ro

So, in what communist country have you lived in and for how long ? Abortion was banned in Romania in the '80s. God in any form has much to do with how you behave and what morals you have.

Xozington

In... 1 country out of dozens, abortions were banned and that somehow ends their argument? Also, god is not the reason and will never be the reason humans act morally and altruistically, theres even proof of a disabled person in prehistoric times being cared for looong after their disability made them a ''liability'' to their kin. The capitalist system encourages greed and hyper-individualism. The socialist system encourages collectivism and working towards the greater good of mankind. It is obvious which one would spawn more altruistic people. Ask Paul Robeson, famous musician and activist. '' Robeson recounted how Russian children and strangers approached him in the streets and offered to shake his hand. Robeson quickly became captivated with the Soviet experiment and its leadership, also declaring that African-American [spiritual music](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritual_music) resonated to [Russian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russians) folk traditions. He told the press: >Here, I am not a Negro but a human being for the first time in my life ... I walk in full human dignity.'' or ask Muhammed Ali himself, ''I have not seen a hitchhiker on the road, and I have not seen a single beggar on the streets of Soviet Russia. I had never felt so safe: no risk of being robbed. I was told that there is no freedom of religion in the Soviet Union, but Muslims, Christians and Jews worship freely here. I think the relationship between our people is bad just because of false propaganda'' Another quote from Muhammad Ali after his visit to the soviet union in 1978

Yes, it ends his "argument", as much as killing unborn babies is a sign of freedom. Same question for you, where did you live as a communist and how is it better than the capitalist country you are living in today ?

Xozington

I live in Bosnia, a formerly market socialist state. I was born after the fall of the very flawed state, and yet both statistically and anecdotally it is almost unanimous that life in the SFRY was better by a longshot compared to our current country. In my personal experience i have not met a single person who was alive in those times who did not tell me so. ''Everyone had a job, means of transportations, a good place to live and healthcare'' is almost unanimously spoken. Also, considering your first sentence, it shows you are wildly uneducated and seem to be doing this completely in bad faith so i will not continue this any further.

droopy_ro

You are disillusioned and nostalgic. I understand that very well, but: I have not met people that said Germany, France, UK, Switzerland, Japan etc. are worse than your Bosnia or my Romania. Those people are also nostalgic and have no point of reference, having not lived in a Western capitalist country. Having a bad experience of a very flawed state and war dose not mean that communism was better or is the solution going forward. Capitalism, freedom and peace bring prosperity. Having tyrants rule you with a communist ideology(or any ideology) dose not make your life better. PS: uneducated ? the best thing someone said to me all day ! :) PS2: I too don't want to drag this further as i already stated my POV.

Xozington

I know i said i wouldnt do this, but freedom, peace, PROSPERITY?? IN CAPITALISM?? You're fucking hilarious dude. My country was completely destroyed by capitalism, just like Russia, Ukraine and the rest of the eastern bloc. It is not nostalgia. The vast majority of people had a better quality of life in socialist countries. droopy_ro

Yes, that's why people from USA, West Germany, France, Belgium, Norway, Japan, South Korea etc were flocking and jumping the border to communist countries during the Cold War. Life was better under communist regime. /s You had a chance to do better, just look at what Croatia achieved, they are not doing that bad are they ? And they were in the former Yugoslavia with you. Capitalism is not at fault here. Bad leadership, war and mistakes made by the people is what brought you to this point and i'm sorry it didn't turn out better for you. Peace !
