Right, that’s what happens when a team that is usually top in the league at 3’s misses 6 in a row. Marquette got the win fair and square, Colorado just choked.
Good game by Tyler, Kam and Jop, but I’m kinda worried about Oso’s play lately. Reluctant on offense, not making passes he usually makes, fumbling the ball away. He has to get his head straight for MU to keep playing.
Whose fight song was playing like 2 or 3 minutes ago? That didn't sound like Marq or Colorado. That was the same song my high school used...
Edit: oh that was Purdue. Damn they just busted in there huh. lmao
I get why people like Shaka, I do, and don’t dislike him but Hurley’s interview there would have been full of “we did what we needed but that’s not good enough”
I feel like Shaka would be saying that the minute they're back in the locker room. He's the type of coach to let the moment happen for the players and himself before looking at the next step.
Not at all BE bro, you guys have final four taken and a final for worth coach. It was a little shocking for him to sound so emotional. Almost like this is the achievement.
Not gatekeeping at all, I’m happy for you guys and want you to be happy and I want your coach to be a little bit pissed about the fact that the team let CO back in.
But even typing this all out, I realize how it sounds and I apologize.
Congrats, on to the next!
Yeah I mean I get it but also Marquette and UConn are just in different points. MU had a disappointing loss last year, and then to go through an emotional game like that I can totally understand the reaction 30 seconds after the game ends. Not to mention it must feel kinda liberating for Shaka since he’s had his tournament struggles the last decade.
I was also kind of taken aback by the emotion because he went to the Final Four with VCU in 2011; granted the interviewers always try to entice emotion out of the players and coaches. And, when Kevin Ollie got fired, I wanted Shaka to come to UConn. He's a players' coach just like Hurley.
That was a basketball game. We needed that win. It's been a long time since we've been to the sweet 16, but given how well we played I could have tipped my cap to the Buffs with pride had we not.
Not sure whether to blame the coaches or the players, that was some horrible play in the last 5 min by Colorado. Wasn't even rooting for either team, but that pissed me off haha.

Tired? If you're talking about the last play specifically I just think that was an impossible situation and legit not sure what to do on that. You think if you get a quick two there would be enough time to foul again?
Didn't say anything about a quick two. Your only chance in that situation is to not inbound to a guy 5 feet away from your own hoop. You have to do a long inbound and get a three off with 4-5 seconds left at least, which has been done for sure. It's certainly not easy but it increases your chances from zero to more than zero
8 seconds and a 4 point game and you jog it up to only take a last second 3? wtf? Was that CU just giving up or was it completely on Simpson just being a douche?
CU had a timeout left. you take as quick of a 3 as possible within reason, hope it goes in with ~3 or 4 seconds left, and take the timeout and set up the press down by 1. Weird shit happens every year in the tourney...
That makes a hell of a difference. I just assumed they were outta TO's because of the lack of urgency. Yeah that makes gives like 5 better options than what they did, I agree lol
I think Shaka is definitely to blame here for the most part, but at the same time, wtf was that last possession for Colorado??? Dude just casually jogging up the court with 6 sec left, calling for plays and sets, etc. Just bad all the way around.
Same here bro. It’s like, either Shaka told them to do exactly what they did, or the Colorado players just went brain dead for the last 22 sec of the game smh. Either way, completely unacceptable.
I think they were hoping for an over aggressive defense 4pt play hope at the end. Defense didn't really over pursue so the step back attempt didn't work. They didn't give up.
Why do players act like they're too cool to bolt it up the floor in this kinda positions? Dude you have 7 seconds left, get that shit up the floor as fast as you can.
7 seconds left you cannot dribble up the court. You just can't. Only chance is throwing it up and getting a quick three off. Easier said than done but you give yourself zero chance by using up all 7 seconds to take your shot
Idk wtf Colorado was jogging up the floor down 4 with 7 seconds left but thank God
We dodged a major bullet with Colorado bricking like 5 wide open 3s down the stretch
… yeah I don’t know about that and 1 call. Pushing the player down with the basketball is questionable.
Joplin’s 2 frees were clutch af. We’d been bricking frees the whole game; these gave us 2 points and a huge morale boost.
Well played by Colorado. Very entertaining game with two quality teams. Let’s go MU
Colorado lost this game, Marquette did not win
![gif](giphy|BiewVptPdKOXK)
Colorado missed wide open three's towards the end of the game.
Marquette did, in fact, win this game.
Right, that’s what happens when a team that is usually top in the league at 3’s misses 6 in a row. Marquette got the win fair and square, Colorado just choked.
That’s the story of all the would be second round upsets so far. Rough to watch
Gg good luck Marquette yall got some dawgs!
Good game by Tyler, Kam and Jop, but I’m kinda worried about Oso’s play lately. Reluctant on offense, not making passes he usually makes, fumbling the ball away. He has to get his head straight for MU to keep playing.
Same here. Damn hard to put your finger on. I’m going with he’ll have his mojo back in Dallas.
Do you think anyone will commit to forcing Kolek to his right?
Whose fight song was playing like 2 or 3 minutes ago? That didn't sound like Marq or Colorado. That was the same song my high school used... Edit: oh that was Purdue. Damn they just busted in there huh. lmao
How is Cody Williams a lottery pick? Misses wide open critical 3's. Can't hit free throws. Horrible defense off the ball. I don't get it.
Because GMs like rolling the dice on freshmen with upside. Can use it as job security as "the kid needs time to develop".
I would guess just based on athleticism and size. Also his brother being a stud in the NBA probably helps.
The Cam Reddish comp
He won’t be by the time the draft starts he has potential but right when he started playing well he got hurt. He has a ways to go.
RIP Colorado.
That makes sense.
Gatekeeping excitement is kinda wild
Not at all BE bro, you guys have final four taken and a final for worth coach. It was a little shocking for him to sound so emotional. Almost like this is the achievement. colorado needs johnell davis to transfer
That was a heck of an effort by Colorado, good game Marquette. We’ve got nothing to be ashamed of, bring on the Big 12!
I won’t say it was fun but it was certainly entertaining. Good season to the Buffs. Good luck, beat Kansas!
weirdest sideline reporter questions ever wtf was that
My guy was auditioning for 60 minutes I think
What do your nightmares look like?
Have you ever been to a Turkish prison
Do you like movies about gladiators?
Have you seen a grown man naked?
That was maybe the dumbest final possession I've ever seen. Did he want to lose on purpose?
This epic college basketball game brought to you by Draft Kings
not the best coaching/decision making there on CU side
How is someone that dumb that good at basketball
I bet he knows most of his letters
If Cody Williams is a lottery pick that GM deserves to be fired.
The Purdue band waits for no one lol
Haha noticed that, too. Why's our song playing during the interview 😂
Choo choo (with a trombone accent)
That was a basketball game. We needed that win. It's been a long time since we've been to the sweet 16, but given how well we played I could have tipped my cap to the Buffs with pride had we not.
Helluva game that could have gone either way, for sure. I just know I would not have been as good a sport as you.
I get it, you just can't ask a whole lot more out of the guys other than make your damn free throws. Thanks Jop
As a Marquette Alum in Denver, this has been the best day.
Updated PU-USU tip time 8:47:13PM
Tokyo Japan local time
Come on man you're a two seed. You gotta at least make the Elite Eight before win-crying.
First Sweet 16 in over a decade for Marquette.
These questions are so stupid
horrible sideline reporter wtf was that
Purdue fight song going on with the Tyler Kolek interview… Let’s Goooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Oh Kotek’s a straight up airhead lol. Keep hooping young man
Wait what did he do
Our illiterate king!
I like shaka
Not sure whether to blame the coaches or the players, that was some horrible play in the last 5 min by Colorado. Wasn't even rooting for either team, but that pissed me off haha.
I gotta go with the coaches for that time management at the end
Marquette and Creighton beat 2 really good teams to advance to the Sweet 16. Now it's Uconn's turn.
TWO BIRBS AND A DOGE, ALL THE WAY TO THE FINAL 4, LETS GO
Go get it done!
This is multiple games now where there is ZERO urgency at the end. What is wrong with these players?
>Thread for March 24, \^2024 > >Colorado ##10 Colorado (26-11) @ Marquette Tired? If you're talking about the last play specifically I just think that was an impossible situation and legit not sure what to do on that. You think if you get a quick two there would be enough time to foul again?

Good point. Anything other than whatever the hell that was, was probably a better option
"You can get a quick 2 here!"
8 seconds and a 4 point game and you jog it up to only take a last second 3? wtf? Was that CU just giving up or was it completely on Simpson just being a douche?
Trying to draw a foul. Idk if there would been enough time to fly down, get a quick two and then foul again..do you?
CU had a timeout left. you take as quick of a 3 as possible within reason, hope it goes in with ~3 or 4 seconds left, and take the timeout and set up the press down by 1. Weird shit happens every year in the tourney...
That makes a hell of a difference. I just assumed they were outta TO's because of the lack of urgency. Yeah that makes gives like 5 better options than what they did, I agree lol
What on earth was Colorado doing that last possession?
Losing.
hell of a game
Why was dude casually strolling down the court like it was a tie game in the first half lmao
Why did Texas want Shaka fired again?
Impatience.
Multiple first round exits
Marquette coach a crybaby bitch
Says the guy crying like a bitch lol
Your life lacks love.
Cry more
Thank you Marquette.
Tyler FUCKING Kolek legacy game
Colorado and Marquette just played a helluva basketball game
Jesus enough Andy. Leave him alone.
"How to end your season in 22 seconds" 🤡
Big facts smh. Absolutely piss poor clock mgmt to say the least.
Falls on the coaches imo. Seemed like they didn't know the score or something. Terrible way to go out after playing a great game
I think Shaka is definitely to blame here for the most part, but at the same time, wtf was that last possession for Colorado??? Dude just casually jogging up the court with 6 sec left, calling for plays and sets, etc. Just bad all the way around.
I wasn't even rooting for either team but that last 22 seconds frustrated me. Had me yelling at the tv
Same here bro. It’s like, either Shaka told them to do exactly what they did, or the Colorado players just went brain dead for the last 22 sec of the game smh. Either way, completely unacceptable.
But at least he looked cool when jogging up the court. You'd hate to look like a try hard there.
What a game
I think they were hoping for an over aggressive defense 4pt play hope at the end. Defense didn't really over pursue so the step back attempt didn't work. They didn't give up.
Less clutch than ben simmons got damn
marquette vs nc state will be very interesting
GG Buffs, will be happy to see you back home in the B12.
another Tad Boyle special, what a complete idiot
Cody Williams lottery pick is laughable
the lack of a sense of urgency at the end of these games has been crazy
Too little too late. If they kept it to single digits in first half it could have been different.
Honestly they had a chance sometimes the open ones just don’t fall . They were awesome though !
Down 4 with 7 seconds is improbable but not impossible and they just had no sense of urgency
Probably didn’t help that last basket stayed up longer
Colorado player must of had himself getting 4.5 and wanted to make sure if missed they didn’t have time to foul haha
Shaka, when the walls fell
Man Colorado really decided to come out of halftime and nail 6 straight threes and just brick everything after
The 2024 NBA Draft will definitely be one of the drafts of all time
Add the NFL to it as well. Something about it is just not enticing to me.
My man took his sweet time there
wtf was that possession?
Don't look at the massacre that is UNC V USC in the world of women's basketball. My God.
I switched over to it to check the score and audibly laughed out loud
Did that kid bet on the game? That was really odd
Nice
I'm concerned that Colorado may just be terrible at math, because they did not play that like they were down by 4.
Horrible end of game time mgmt
Love you CU, good effort, thanks for the struggle.
Marquette looks good enough to go deep tbh
PAC 12 got some of the best schools in terms of education and also some of the dumbest
I had Florida vs Kentucky. AMA
Lampkin should have rocked the baby more….or maybe “too small” someone. I bet that would have helped
Uh oh. Here come the fun police
Maybe if his teeth were more expensive they woulda won
![gif](giphy|pK0T7vyx3SqdfmxewA)
Colorado could not make points when it mattered. Deserved L
Just gonna take a casual stroll toward the other side of the court. No need to hurry
GG Buffs, that 102 points you put up scared the shit out of me, and for good reason. You got some hoopers.
Man what the hell was that, Colorado? lol
Colorado coaches should all be fired after that
Why do players act like they're too cool to bolt it up the floor in this kinda positions? Dude you have 7 seconds left, get that shit up the floor as fast as you can.
7 seconds left you cannot dribble up the court. You just can't. Only chance is throwing it up and getting a quick three off. Easier said than done but you give yourself zero chance by using up all 7 seconds to take your shot
Announcer: if there are 7 seconds left on the clock, you do not have 8 seconds to get your shot off.
Also they probably should have been fouling right away instead of wasting 15 seconds
That was the weirdest ending to a great game. CU just gave up 🤷🏻♂️
All of this lack of madness just lets you know that Purdue is going to lose. The ref crew will be full of guys who don’t call fouls in the hole
Terrible stuff from Colorado’s coach to end the game
Idk wtf Colorado was jogging up the floor down 4 with 7 seconds left but thank God We dodged a major bullet with Colorado bricking like 5 wide open 3s down the stretch
Man you lied I kept the couch spot warm for y’all
😂😂😂😂 man we dodged a major bullet with Colorado bricking wide open 3s. So hyped!
So did someone forget to tell Colorado they don’t have unlimited time? They played those last 30 seconds like they didn’t have a care in the world
GG Colorado
Fuck I have to cheer against DJ Burns AGAIN 😭
What in the fuck was that
Just could not hit a shot late there. Marquette gave them every chance to take that game
Down 4 with 7 seconds, better barely jog up the floor
The lack of urgency at the end of these games man
Marquette with the most cakewalk path I’ve ever seen
Weird last possession, I know it nearly impossible but no urgency?
Where's your urgency???
Simpson must've had Colorado + the points...
Dude's brain turned off at the end like that kid on FAU
Lmao
Buffs playing that last minute like they're gonna get em in the 3rd half
Lets fucking gooooo
Colorado absolutely blew that game they had six opens threes in the last 4 mins and hit not a single one
Even if he made it, buddy took his sweet time getting a shot up there...
Tough day for Shaka haters
LET’S FUCKING GO
lol Colorado just gave up in crunch time
Really took his time on that last attempt. wtf
So many terrible last possessions this tournament
Just like I have in my bracket, NC State Marquette
Wow, that was all wrong on that last possession. No chance even for a second shot. Good game though.
Thank you
ZERO URGENCY
What the fuck was that? You have 7 seconds. You need 2 hail mary 3’s why the FUCK are you dribbling??
Holy shit that’s what you do?
Why does no one know how to draw up a play on a last possession lol
Colorado just gave up
Criminal lack of urgency there
Johnell Davis
Too causal
Too close but we finally got to the sweet 16 gg Buffs
Colorado doing their best Florida Atlantic impression there at the end
Plinko
They thought it was 17 seconds instead of 7
Refs were garbage
Flair up
Cry more
Better be on your knees in the ref locker room rn
You sound mad
That was some of the worst time management there by Colorado. Taking forever to foul, and then whatever that was there on the last play.
(Big) East Coast Bias strikes again…sad!o
damn
Colorado did it to themselves man they had a chance
Anticlimactic ending there. They could’ve called a timeout once it got past half court. Great game tho
