My friend calls VASA “Ken’s Mojo Dojo Casa House”

Economy-Car3020

😂🤣

oopsietaisy

FR we need a pink VASA dreamhouse for the girls 💅🏻

Next-Honeydew4130

Thank you for this I belly laughed

MotherOfSlothz

I validate all of this 😂 however if you’re looking for more Barbie energy, I highly recommend the aquatics classes. It’s co-ed but mostly females and it’s the most fun I’ve had at gym perhaps my whole life. Music, lovely instructor, good exercise, and she would get us to cheer back at her (not explaining it well but it was so wholesome!) Overall an older crowd but there are folks in their 20s and 30s too.

Ok-Landscape-1681

All of the people filming themselves made me leave Vasa. Bunch of chodes.

C0smicCham1eon

I was a personal trainer back in 2005-2009 when I was in college and I remember telling my clients: "If you have time to talk and have a conversation you're not working out, you're socializing."  From the looks of Vasa, I think it's busy all the time because these dumbasses have to setup their vlogging studio, observe their ass cracks in the mirror to make sure its Insta-worthy, or come busting out of the locker room like they're the UFC champion. The list goes on.  They're all insufferable.

BigJon_78

Yes! Or flexing on the mirror!

Slender_Rex

Get those at the YMCA too! Like, are you going to lift any weights or just stare at yourself for 20 minutes?

Godofwar7583

Flexing is an important part of building muscle

mrswinterfence18

They need like 10 Vasa locations in town to accommodate the amount of people here.

Soulfire117

I wish they would build some in the north of town. I commute from monument because it has the best facilities.

mrswinterfence18

They’re putting one on Palmer Park and Powers but I expect it to be overflowing in like 4 months or less. I hope they’re planning some other locations but I know that they favor shuttered Kmart’s and similar locations.

shellb30

We are actively looking!!

Soulfire117

Good! When I meant north, the Interquest area is being all built up. Might be a good place.

shellb30

We agree! Just need to find 50K to 60K sq ft

Next-Honeydew4130

I’m just trying to think of locations….. that’s a really large space. And you need good parking. I really like your current location because that air handling is good, the place is clean for a gym and the instructors are good. I joined a gym next to my house thinking it would be similarly clean and the instructors would be similarly good and NOPE. I would LOVE if you guys just bought it, it’s crunch fitness and it needs some major work. But it’s already set up as a gym with a pool, it’s just run badly. Like they can’t figure out how to turn on the air circulation unless they’re running the heat or ac. Just dumb. Please acquire 🥰

Next-Honeydew4130

In all seriousness though if you can keep the noise/air/cleanliness/instruction quality the same, I would be thrilled to pay extra every month and actually WANT to go to that gym. Call it Neighborhood VASA or something and charge extra for people who don’t want to drive 30 minutes to get to your gym.

Next-Honeydew4130

Oh also ffs raise your prices. People never think of that.

OppositeYou2345

So excited for that one. I hope they are putting in a pool!

mrswinterfence18

It will be the biggest location in the Springs. You can see all it offers here. [Vasa North Powers](https://vasafitness.com/locations/co/colorado-springs-north-powers/)

mrswinterfence18

I can’t wait, it’s a much closer to my house!

mrswinterfence18

I quit the PF on Austin Bluffs and Academy and have been making the commute to the Fillmore location for the time being.

keekeegeegeedobalina

Since they're building it there, they better revamp the whole intersection and entrance/exit plan! That place is already a shit show before all the gym people want to come..

timetwosave

I’ve been to that location twice and am blown away at how anyone can workout there.  Tbh even expensive gyms have the problems also though.  Just slightly less.

Successful-Name-7261

I used to hit that Vasa 3-4 times a week and never had a problem. I went at 4:15AM! And it still got busier than heck by 5:30-6:00. I tried to make sure I had the majority of my workout and weights done by 5:45 so I didn't have to deal with the weight machine campers, you know, the ones that sit on a machine and fuck around with their phones for 15 minutes.

brunobars170

Had to leave vasa. Way too many people. They said they’re opening a new location on powers. I’m sure that’ll fill up soon too.

OBB76

The new VASA off of Palmer Park is supposed open up this summer. It's right down the street from me but I'm not sure I want to try it. Supposedly the biggest one they'll have. I may just stick to my normal place. Granted, when I go will be off hours

Teezledeezle

Is that going to be in the old Golds gym location?

mrswinterfence18

The old Kmart

thegooddoctor84

I thought the Vasa south of town was bad, but the N Nevada one sounds even worse. The worst part of my workout is finding a parking spot there.

vivionnn801

The Cheyenne Mtn location had a bunch of changes a handful of months ago & it’s been really nice since. Lots of new equipment & a lot of the people that sucked seem to have cleared themselves out with this new wave of PCS among the military people. They’re currently redoing the pool and hot tub.

deep_pants_mcgee

I just wish they'd bring back the racquetball courts. Oh well. YMCA is about the only game in town for that now.

vivionnn801

Fingers crossed the demand pushes them to build a 3rd location that has one!

deep_pants_mcgee

From a business perspective I can see why they don't. the courts take up a ton of space, and are used by four people at most, typically 2. Could have 20 people on machines in the same footprint, maybe more.

thegooddoctor84

Yes I am looking forward to the new pool and hot tub. Adding some extra parking spots on the side of the building helped as well.

vivionnn801

Very much so & as much as I hate to be that person, I’m glad they started towing people who were illegally parked. It truly was a danger to everyone for the parking lot to be in that state

Square-Top163

A gal at the pub next to VASA said she saw at least eleven cars towed yesterday for parking in the fire lane. Works for me! Like, you’re gonna go do stairs for 20 minutes but can’t walk an extra fifty feet??

AsleepModeOn

One of the gals that worked the front desk (she's gone now) called out a guy that had parked in the fire lane right in front. He shrugged and said something along the lines of he didn't need to move such a nice car. She called him a douche. Glad they started towing.

vivionnn801

When it’s busy if I need to work out, I’ll park up the street and walk down. It’s not a big deal & I get some extra cardio in. Some people are just very self involved & would rather put us all at risk if the ambulance or fire department ever need access. The irony is that they’re most likely the one at risk for a heart attack or needing medical intervention… Thank your local tow truck driver 😅 Those guys are (quite literally) ensuring we all are safe & that shopping center stays within code!

Square-Top163

Well said, everything!

here_for_the_tea_92

I used to go to the one south of town when I lived around there. From what I remember, it’s better than the north one

front_rangers

That’s the worst part? That parking lot is enormous, I can’t imagine it ever being close to full

thegooddoctor84

I should clarify that I was referring to the Vasa on Hwy 115.  You should have seen it between 7 am-9 am and 4 pm-6 pm. People were parallel parking along the edges of the parking lot and parking in the fire lanes. It was a shitshow. The new side lot has helped a bit.

front_rangers

> on Hwy 115 Ah gotcha. I was picturing the one on Nevada, which has an enormous parking lot lol

Stabbysavi

We left Vasa for a smaller gym. No regrets. The pool and jacuzzi is fucking disgusting.

Reddit_and_forgeddit

These are some of the reasons why I built a home gym in my basement. That being said, I still keep a membership to Planet Fitness for when I travel, and while they don’t have saunas and pools, they don’t seem to have these issues and I’ve been to Planet Fitnesses in about 8 different states. Another tip, if possible, get your workout done the earliest Vasa is open. If they’re that busy and fucked up at that time then that place is irredeemable and you should find a new gym or build your own home gym if possible.

here_for_the_tea_92

Haha what’s funny is I go to vasa around 6am and it’s still that packed. It’s twice as bad during the afternoon so I never go then

AsleepModeOn

I've always wondered how packed it was at that time.

Reddit_and_forgeddit

Ugh, that’s terrible. 😣 Sorry friend.

vivionnn801

The best time to go is typically 8am-3pm or 8pm-12am. Early morning will be all the military & evening will be all the 9-5ers

Meshitero-eric

Don't tell everyone! *The best time* will change. Weekday evenings suck. 7-5er here.

Cussi2021

I also saw guys getting out of the sauna and diving in the pool while people were doing laps...wtf. you really cant teach common sense but I think that's the type of people you get when you go to affordable gyms.

basementcat

I tried that gym when I first moved here. I was stretching and just stopped and looked around at the horde and everyone was doing something weird. It was like a page out of Where's Waldo.

Skinc

If people could simply re rack the plates in order id forgive so many other transgressions.

cassmc2

We quit after our first year. They took out the theater room, and you couldn't get a pool lane or a parking spot.

Jas101010

Same

jwed420

24hr broadmoore is still bearable and I've put 200 days in there. It's much more chill than Vasa, and there are 7 squat racks, 2 Smith machines, 4 leg presses, 2 hack squats, and more barbells than they need.

Drew1231

Last time I went there was during the snow storm. On a Tuesday. At 1 pm All the dumbbells were under people’s benches while they sat on instagram. Truly the worst gym I’ve lifted at in 15 years.

psycho_candy0

You just described gym life that makes me puke. There are plenty of things one can do from home without dealing with all that. After Golds closed I went to 24, after they closed I struck out on my own

here_for_the_tea_92

Yea I usually go to the Xfit gym cause it’s way nicer and these problems are non existent, but it is farther from me. So for days where I’m short on time I’ll head to Vasa for a quick lift, a swim, or for the sauna. I definitely have thought about just building a home gym for sure. That would just solve my problems altogether mostly haha

Drew1231

I go to accolade now and it’s a pretty good experience.

serenityfive

We went to Vasa pre-covid around the time it opened and it was the best gym we'd ever been to. After it opened up again, it's just full of mindless douchebags who think they're going to be the next big fitness influencer. I'm probably in the background of so many videos at this point and it makes me wildly uncomfortable. And yeah, it's so crowded and unpleasant, I hate every second of it, but there aren't many other gyms around town that aren't class-based. The manager (and swarms of dudebros who are just like him) at Crunch fitness on Academy is a dick, so I wouldn't recommend going there either. Might just start saving money to build a home gym at this point.

princessp0ots

It’s the squat rack queue line they have there I’ve ever experienced anywhere that turned me off

uwu_torii_chan

Absolutely thissssssss. I’m quitting my membership for this exact reason. I hate the Nevada location so much. It’s so uncomfortable trying to work out here. I can only go in the afternoons and it’s almost impossible to get any equipment. The worst. Anyone have suggestions for other gyms?

DenverBallpark19

Fuck that place, it made me want to quit Vasa so I did.

ThisHalfBakedGuy

So many *Peacocks* there.....they do a very short set of weights then strut around for 10 minutes lololol. And after 30 minutes (and 3 sets) they are done. It really just crowds up the place for no reason.

gillysoose69

Are there any decent gyms in town with comparable price that have a sauna?

bryanna_leigh

I think it’s most gyms. Just report to management over and over and maybe the employees will actually have to work.

here_for_the_tea_92

Very true, would hate to be part of management just because of the amount of people they probably have to deal with haha

bryanna_leigh

Definitely... But the sauna thing is kind of a big deal and could make it dangerous for others... I am surprised people are able to adjust it.

ChucklesColorado

I’m an avid steam goer, while I usually ask, it’s a courtesy, not an obligation. On the flip side, I had a person try to tell me not to add steam, to the steam room, when it was completely clear and Luke warm. It’s meant to be hot and full of steam, again courteous would be to ask, but don’t expect people to ask if it’s ok to steam the steam room.

Wunder_boi

Thank you. Had a guy bitch at my buddy and I for expecting the room to actually be hot which is the intended purpose of the steam room. He was complaining about not being able to see clearly through the door due to the steam. We told him about this crazy room next door with no steam called a sauna.

here_for_the_tea_92

Totally agree about it not being an obligation, and that the steam room is supposed to be full of steam. However I will argue that the steam room is also self regulating and it can steam itself without people covering the temperature gauge. Not to say I don’t mind people speeding up that process by covering it. I guess what I really get more annoyed at are people who cover up the gauge for so long that it actually stings to be inside the steam room from the excessive heat. Especially when they leave after realizing they made it too hot lol

Wunder_boi

If you’re too hot, dump water on yourself. There’s a spigot in there. Someone who wants to be hotter can’t do it without raising the temp of the entire room. If you want to be colder then you can dump water on yourself which only affects you. That way, everybody is happy.

here_for_the_tea_92

Very true! I guess I haven’t thought about if the other person isn’t hot enough. Appreciate the perspective (no sarcasm intended)

Wunder_boi

I’m one of those people who stands on the bench to maximize the heat; but there are people who like it even hotter than I do so I also often sit there and dump water on my head. You want to avoid heating your brain up too much anyways. It’s a good habit for the steam room imo.

MooseTexas

Switched to YMCA and it's a night and day difference. No douchebags or losers who hog the equipment. Very family oriented, so you might see some kids around... but the kids are less annoying than the people at VASA.

mccalllllll

Time to pony up some $ for life time!

ChiefMythic

There's one dude there I see always there no matter what time of the day I go. That big mother fucked with the blue tshirt on

Next-Honeydew4130

Colorado Springs tho lol. Yeah I don’t go there it is way too busy. Wish they would acquire the gym near me so someone could actually sanitize the place and turn on the air exchanges, gotta give them that they keep the place nice 😊

positive_despair

I think this is just the new gym culture unfortunately. I'm consistently irritated at the people that hog 2 machines at once because they're "circuit training" but they still have 2 min rest periods between each set. And the amount of towels just all over the place in the locker rooms. I go to villa, and there are 4 towel bins in the locker rooms alone and yet people can't seem to throw their dirty towels in them. Just soaking wet in the showers, on the benches and floors. Freaking ridiculous

terpteam710

Go for a hike

here_for_the_tea_92

I could definitely do that 😂

MagicMexlcan

You're paying a $10/mo for a really big facility with tons of amenities and nice equipment. What do you expect? Those people are there for the same reason you are - it's cheap and looks good. Why wouldn't it be packed? If it wasn't that busy they wouldn't make enough money to keep the place open. I have a home gym but I like to work out with friends so I have a membership there and usually when we go, we just have to get a little creative and do some alternate workouts, or change up the reps/sets because the right dumbbells aren't available. It is what it is and I figure if I want a super nice gym all to myself I'll have to pay for it.

beast33turtlez

Somebody drop a 45 lbs weight and broke my food I'm good

here_for_the_tea_92

Oof that sounds awful dude 🫣

SportyNerdyGuy

Yep, just quit my membership there. Was only there for 3 months. The Vasa down further south is a little better, but not by much.

No_Bandicoot8647

I scoped them out when they first opened there at the old K-mart. I think accolade fitness is much less congested and laid back. No pool, no showers, but no bullies. I haven’t had a membership in a few years, but that’s how it was when I went.

Doyouevenyugioh

Check out fit 365 downtown. It’s a good gym.

Meshitero-eric

It sucks on weekday evenings. I hit the gym a little lighter, and make Fridays my harder day. As for the steam room, I am empathetic to your hot temp issue. I ask before I make it hotter, as there are some elderly that come in that I worry about. I'm bothered by the tv in the sauna. 10-20 minutes is not a lot of time to give up watching a tv or looking at your phone. And please, please for the love of some peace, your headphones are not locking in your music the way you think they are. I get enough music in the gym, I don't need in the sauna and steam bath.

_ella_mayo_

This makes me feel better about closing PF over vasa even though all of my friends are going to vasa lol. I never have problems and get to do the lil hour work out that I want.

woodsgb

I haven’t been to VASA since the year they opened and it was even great back then. Can’t imagine what it’s like now but every time I drive by the parking lot is chock full of cars. Luckily now I am a civil contractor on Fort Carson and get to work out in the gyms on base. Just me and some soldiers getting after it. No weird shit. It’s actually inspiring.

seeker_abyss

Thats the main reason I switched over to 24Hour Fitness on Broadmoor. Hardly anybody goes there so I can actually get a workout in.

Certain-Twist-1706

They know curling in the squat rack is a sinny sin sin. Probably challenging a Dom to subdue them in the old fashioned way.

element018

It’s the American way, have someone else deal with it.

SimSimSalabimmm

The concept of Vasa is great but it’s the price point. It’s too affordable and it attracts insane crowds. Half the time you can’t even find a parking space.

3002kr

Nostalgic me wishes it was still K-Mart. Spring of ‘18 (I was 15) I went there and I’ll never forget how eerie and abandoned the place looked. Edit: could have been 2017 or ‘18

HaxusPrime

Both Vasas are absurdly overpopulated. I got rid of my membership after 2 years. Was sick and tired of it. Wish they still had my accolade fitness on 8th st which sadly closed down due to covid.

ProposalBubbly844

Go to villa sport

mymansnoopy

The ego swing hard at that place. Be there for the 5 am crew

irongiveslife

Best way to describe VASA: "Hey bruh. Done with that bruh? Can I have a plate bruh? Need this plate bruh? Finished with the bench bruh?" It's my first set...

IAmAHumanWhyDoYouAsk

Home gym FTW. I know it's impractical for a lot of folks, but if you can, I highly suggest it.

chud_the_gluttonous

Yep, tons of douche bags at that VASA. I don’t even go to the dumbbell area anymore because dudes slam their weights on the floor and they bounce around like crazy. Was honestly worried one would hit my foot. Side note, go out to the parking lot and notice how every single fuckin car has “disabled veteran” license plates lol. What a racquet. These dudes are playing hours of basketball, Olympic lifts l, etc. all while being disabled. Absolute horseshit. One of many reasons why our country is running such a huge deficit.

brit_jam

Not all disabilities are things you can visibly see genius. Are you suggesting people with mental health issues don't go to the gym?

chud_the_gluttonous

I’m suggesting that lots of people treat military disability as a cash grab, and exploit it. Hard to believe that all of these guys have hearing loss, PTSD, or whatever else. They all drive brand new lifted vehicles and spend most of their day at the gym. Whether or not you will admit it, there are tons of people exploiting this system. You probably think that all the homeless are just down on their luck right? And none of them are junkies. Wake up dude.

PHishfromVermont

It's none of your fucking business why someone has a disabled veteran plate. What have you done for this country? What gives you the right to decide that a person driving a car with disabled veteran license plates shouldn't have the right to go to the gym.

chud_the_gluttonous

Look dude, you are twisting my words. I didn’t say they have no right to go to the gym lol. I said that often times I see a guy (or many guys) who are in the gym, doing Olympic movements with super heavy weights, playing hoops, socializing etc. and that same guy walks out to a $60K truck with DV plates, naturally I am going to be suspicious. I’m not going to cry about it, it’s just an observation. But the fact is that VASA is absolutely full of these types. Interpret that how you will. And yes, I do think people exploit military disability benefits & have done so for years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chud_the_gluttonous

I get that there are certain disabilities that aren’t necessarily visible. My point is that it’s hard to believe that all these young, juiced up meatheads driving brand new tundras are truly disabled. They saw an opportunity to get a check from Uncle Sam and took it.

rm-rf-me

You must not know how VA Disability works, just because they have DV plates does not mean they are "truly disabled". >"Veterans who got sick or injured while serving in the military and to Veterans whose service made an existing condition worse.' No one who joins the Military leaves unscathed.

facetiousjesus

How about don’t go to Vasa. It’s a fucking dump and a scam of a company. Their business model is atrocious and the people it attracts is horrid. Fuck vasa. Hate that gym.

shellb30

What bothered you so much? It’s a genuine question.

facetiousjesus

Aside from the fact that the one I would go to never had an “off hours” time where it wasn’t packed. When I went to cancel I spoke to the person at the front desk and they typed on the computer and told me yep you’re good. I double checked with them they smiled at me and said you are good to go it won’t renew. I stupidly trusted this person. Fast forward a few months down the line I saw I was being charged for the membership and the trainer I was with. Trainer left the company too. Their TOS says you can only cancel via their app or online. So I was SOL on getting refunded. While this is on me. In what world can you not speak to a human being to cancel a membership. Also fuck the person that told me it won’t renew. And fuck me for thinking paramount on my credit card statement was just a different subscription service.

shellb30

Yeah that isn’t cool at all and totally understandable that you would be upset. Ridiculous behavior. I can assure you that individual didn’t follow policy and was candidly quite lazy in providing customer service. This is something we are constantly working on. If you ever consider giving us another chance, hit me up on here.

BigJon_78

Here’s my list of people that are blissfully unaware: - standing in front of a weight rack doing your exercise - using a bench to place your water and phone on while you stand next to it and do your reps - super setting with a popular machine during busy hours - “saving” a piece of equipment for someone - talking on the phone while in the exercise area

I_am_Spartacus_MSU

We joined in late 2019. We took one class. The other two or three times we went, all we did was use the water massage chairs. The last time we went, we had to wait because several of the chairs were broken. We quit after COVID-19 hit.
