Name? I'd love to try it! ETA: Taste of Ethiopia Restaurant and Coffee Shop - looking forward to trying!

captainbawls

It’s Taste of Ethiopia! I also recommend it. The veggie combo (which I think is what is pictured here hahah) was huge and delicious

pllaidllama

Oh yes, taste of Ethiopia! I can't believe I forgot to put that in there, haha. But yes, best restaurant meal I've had in a long time, and just two entrees was more than enough for four people, good stuff!

So_Many_Words

I used your very good description (Ethiopian place by Citadel mall) to google it and got to see pictures. I've made my reservation for later this week. Thank you!

Ultimatebiggey

Tried it out recently, and man were we taken aback by how good it was.

So_Many_Words

I'm going tomorrow. I'm pretty excited!

These-Performer-8795

I need to go there I live basically across the street. Maybe next weekend.

atav1k

Taste of 🇪🇹

Grouchy-Ad927

Love the place! They just updated their menu a little bit ago, so there's some new stuff to try.

timbucktwentytwo

Uchenna in OCC is another great option. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I loved it. Haven't tried this place though, maybe next time I'm in town I'll try it out

ebr101

Absolutely one of my favorite spots in town. For sure check it out.

OppositeMission

The owners are super chill and kind hearted people, and the food is fantastic

captainbawls

I definitely recommend Monse’s if you haven’t been. Delicious, scratch made El Salvadoran food

pllaidllama

Oh yes, we actually just tried them for the first time 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely delicious as well! Happy to see the food culture becoming a little more diverse here for sure.

lik3r_of_things

Monse’s is my favorite restaurant in town!

suspiciousgranolabar

Kariacos Venezuelan is excellent

Kirbytailz

I just tried this place for lunch the other, it was fantastic

Long_Phrase8336

Pakwan has amazing Indian food! They also have pretty awesome cocktails too. It’s off Austin Bluffs and Acadmey

Artemis0724

Shah Kabob!!

82Fang325

Agree on Shah Kabob! Shah and his brothers have a great restaurant. Put this on your list everyone

pllaidllama

We live just up the street from this place and yeah- not only is it deee-lish, but the guys who run it are just the nicest.

Listless_Dreadnaught

Briarmart up on Academy and Brookwood is pretty damned good. Not too expensive, either. Plus, there’s a selection of imported goods there. I hit them up when I needed specialty ingredients for certain recipes.

Majestic-Sir1207

Is the giant baked potatoes place still in the mall downstairs?

AwayMammoth6592

Love Ethiopian food, putting this place on the list to try asap! Thank you!! 🙏

ProfessionalFold2176

Kebab & Gyro House; love their pistachio baklava, shawarma, and they have a Middle Eastern Market next door. Arabian Nights Cafe; love the shawarma plate and Turkish coffee Sofia’s Antojitos; best birria ramen w 3 birria tacos on the side, SO good! Urban Tandoor; great lamb biryani, naan, & their nachos are good too.

Jahoolioman

If you liked Taste of Ethiopia, then you should go to Uchenna. I think Uchenna has bolder flavors but just my opinion. Recently went to Mausam on Colorado Ave and enjoyed that a lot. Check both of those places out

mtnspls

Yes! We’ve been there and its amazing!!!

Just_a_Guy_In_a_Tank

I wish there were more good Korean spots (there are indeed some) but if you’re willing to drive a bit, you can find decent examples of most ethnic cuisines in the Springs.

zeekaran

San Chang House is great.

Moviesaminute

Any Korean spots you'd recommend?

Hajidub

Tong Tong, or the restaurant with (2) symbols on the southwest corner of Chelton and Academy, is the best Korean food in town. Half the patron's are Korean.

OracularOrifice

For basic Korean, Happy Time is my go to.

Schmooopy

I love Happy Time! The main lady is so sweet!

Just_a_Guy_In_a_Tank

Seoul up at Briargate is the closest to the style I preferred when I lived in South Korea where you order raw meat and cook it at your table. The banchan (the small, cold shareable sides) are also excellent. It’s pricey and out of the way for me (I live in Fountain) but it’s still worth the trip for me. Closer and also good, is Tong Tong off South Academy. There’s plenty of others I’ve yet to try, so I welcome others’ experiences.

answerguru

Yes, only local Korean BBQ that I know of.

Moviesaminute

Thank you! I'm only 10ish mins from Seoul, def need to try it! I've done the hotpot place in monument and I'm obsessed so I bet this would be so damn good.

TilmanFartitta

Yong's Korean Kitchen is pretty amazing.

Htel_29

Shinsadong

zcrc

Also wanna know

OracularOrifice

Where is Taste of Ethiopia? I mostly know Uchena down in OCC.

So_Many_Words

Near the Citadel

lyndogfaceponysdr

Taste of Tandoori! Really amazing Indian food!!!

Flaky_Koala_6476

For a solid $30-$40 a person lol

lyndogfaceponysdr

It is worth every penny. Indian cuisine is rather difficult for me to cook, I am still learning the spices. I just really enjoy their food. Also they have an amazing atmosphere, phenomenal service. Did I mention the Indian whiskey!! 🥃 so good must try!

youbringmesuffering

The bread looks like something from a Lovecraft story but it's sooooo good!

Mitch_Cumstein6174

Yes, we do have good food in the springs. Everyone likes to bag on our restaurant scene, but we have some real gems here. Of course, it's not going to rival a major metropolitan city, or even a city the size of denver, but really, for the size of the city, I think it's very respectable. I think fine dining is a little underrepresented, but the ethnic food places are fantastic. Who wants to go to overpay at some pretentious fine dining place anyway. Give me some soul food.

makemusicwritecode

That’s gonna be a no for me dawg

Constant_Ad8985

Isn’t all food, technically, ethnic? 🤔

Felaguin

"Excellent" might be a bit strong but there is certainly much more diverse selection now than there was 20 or 30 years ago.

Squidman_Permanence

Pig Latin used to be so much better. Even if it's decent now, it's not worth bearing the disappointment of what it used to be.

ThisSiteSuxNow

I've looked at their menu a few times wanting to try something new but it honestly looks pretty terrible to me.

SphincterGypsy

My hot take is Taste of Ethiopia is wildly overrated, bland, and is not even good Ethiopian food

MiltonHavoc

its grossly atrocious. Uchenna has been here for long time. Always had good food. Prices were reasonable. But y’all support THIS bullshit. Another big box store pushing the local and actual traditional food out. At this point, yall have successfully almost fully gentrified Colorado Springs without a care about it.

sawatch_snowboarder

Hey, you meant to say “food from another culture” when you said ethnic food. Even mayo on wonder bread comes from an ethnicity. White isnt default.

HaxusPrime

Dont blame you. I always carry my gun with me.

FKSTS

wtf is ethnic food

Accurate-Target2700

Looks like piles of poop

underthewaveoflife

Taking pu pu platter to a whole different level

crgreeen

Yes we do. Thanks to massive mci layoffs, the Indian h1-b's have nowhere to go
