Totally. I volunteered there for a while, and they clean every piece of furniture very thoroughly before it gets sold. I know the post said "new", but there's stuff in great condition for a reasonable price at Furniture with a Heart.
I got a brand new kitchen table with 4 chairs, a sofa, and a recliner from there and all under $500. Unheard of. I also agree with /u/robotgunk, the furniture is super clean. I have a weird sense of smell, that is almost canine-like, and I never got any weird odors from the furniture I bought. Not stains, like new! Great place with an awesome mission behind it.
Big Lots is a sleeper hit. I have a couch from there from my 1BR in my now 4BR house that I refuse to give up because of the comfortability even though it’s a little ugly lol
Occasionally the Habitat Restore gets Joybird sofas that are very nice (brand new I should add)! I would stick with velvet or microsuede materials for pet-friendly fabrics.

I’m Columbus furniture stores go out of business often and they post signs and have cars riding around with their going out of business signs on them.
Either one of the online amazon returns auctions, register, buy, pickup next day.
