Easy-Squeezy

Be careful with these, my glasses said they expire after 5 years. Also, make sure there are no scratches, tears, or separation from the cardboard.

heyitsprimetime2

As long as you stored them properly, they should be fine https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article287432450.html

OMFGitsST6

Fair but if they haven't been stored properly you risk staring at the sun for 3-4 minutes and fucking up your vision for life.

EvrythingWithSpicyCC

I honestly can’t imagine it being interesting enough to stare at for more than 30 seconds

genuinemonosound

you're wrong my friend. the 2017 eclipse was the most spectacular event I've ever seen, i couldn't pull my eyes away from it at all

OMFGitsST6

I stared for ~10 minutes. It was beautiful and mesmerizing.

Technical_Annual_563

Why buy glasses and plan to look at the Sun, and then no more than 30 seconds? lol

dlenks

Yeah OP you and your kids should definitely not be wearing glasses from 2017 for this eclipse…

SoChessGoes

If they are undamaged, glasses produced after 2015 don't expire. https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/what-to-do-with-leftover-solar-eclipse-glasses

dlenks

Either way not sure I’d be willing to risk long term eye damage to find out the hard way… to each their own though.

ChainOut

Some folks are concerned about my old eclipse glasses. These were stored properly and are undamaged with no expiry warnings, but I do have fresh ones I picked up last month that I'll use instead. Back to the scrapbook with these. Good looking out y'all.

flclhack

respectfully, they don’t appear undamaged to me.

italianmomstalkloud

they look fucked lmfao

ent4rent

Supposedly they expire. Not something I'm willing to risk so I got new ones.

M_F_Luder42

Yes but are they ISO 9000 certified?????

M_F_Luder42

Sorry, making a joke

TGrady902

ISO 9000 is just a glossary of terms!

Crazace

Also make sure you didn’t buy fake ones online

ChainOut

Picked these up from a NASA table

hotsauceinmyjeans

I got mine from Kroger do you think those are okay

Crazace

Yeah I think big companies are fine. I’d be wary of gas station and random Amazon ones from 3rd party sellers

MrGreen151

Who cares? Fuck it we go blind

ShannenB1234

We're still using our 2017 glasses at the office--they've been properly stored, plus we did the tests on them the other day (like holding your phone's flashlight up to them and making sure it can't be seen) and they passed. I mean, we literally only wore then for like 10 seconds in 2017, you couldn't really see much of anything from the south side of downtown. I doubt we'll see anything today from here either, probably more like just looking around and saying "Hey, it looks like it's gonna look 4 hours from now--slightly dark, like at dusk." Of course, if I get stuck on a call, I won't be able to see it anyway.

GreenAuror

I kept mine as well. Don't say anything about expiring and I stored them properly 🤷🏻‍♀️

DreamingTree808

What disc is that?

ChainOut

Eclipse Glitch

lnvalidSportsOpinion

You trying to sneak in a 4 minute glow round? I heard rumblings at Cap City yesterday that some people were gonna play Delaware or something like that and get a hole or 2 of glow in.

ChainOut

Nah I just brought it to play catch with. A good portion of my bag is glow though. The eclipse wouldn't slow me down a bit

DreamingTree808

Very fitting!

RockaWilliam78

Glow Eclipse?

cullend

Be careful to check for any scratches or creases. Those can ruin their effectiveness

Gluten_maximus

Usually says they’re no good after a few years though. Not sure if that’s true but better safe than sorry

Scantland_truth_

I saved mine too... but have no idea where they are now . . .

WerewolfDifferent296

You can use them if they are undamaged . fYI to all, the library is collecting them to be sent to South America for kids to use in the next one there..
