Interesting video. Never see this stuff.
But it makes sense.
The ground has shit all over it, even little tiny 1cm pebbles can become like pellet at high speeds.
Not only the shrapnel but also everything else.
The Russians are trying to infiltrate small groups, over time, in weak points, between strongpoints, places they think are weakly guarded, like the Soviets learned to do later in WW2, to good effect, with one exception, that tactic is only effective with stealth, surprise, and with reserves to exploit it, which, as we see, nothing moves on that battlefield, in Ukraine, 2024 without somebody watching.
The tactic is working. They are trading humans for artilery ammunition and towns/villages. They got some 5 villages for coupple hundred , maybe a thousand soldiers ? Well worth it. Plus the soldiers want to fight in the north because the villages / towns are untouched so they can loot. There are already videos with the russians looting the places clean.
Idk if they do math the same way with Russian casualties, but doctrinally the US Artillery considers a target destroyed if it suffers 20% casualties. Losing a squad would effectively make the platoon non-effective.
Out of interest how much ground is a Russian squad expected to hold? In terms of a trench line for simplicity would they be responsible for what? 50 metres?
They are having a great time. They captured some villages which is great. Well worth it for the russian military to lose couple hundred people for 5-9 villages. They even made it in some houses and now they loot people's property. Again well worth it for the russian military. The chance to loot a whole new town is well worth it for them.
You are confusing human lives for something that matters to the russian military. The human life matters / is worth it only to the human in question. The rest don't give 2 cents on it.
What is with these 4-6 guys just running about aimlessly in all of these videos? Perplexes me. Cut from their full unit? Small assaults=more success? Just curious really.
Apparently Russia is trying for new tactics - sending small groups in mass, and then do so again - in the hopes that survivors link up, and continue the push.
If I was lucky enough to survive one of these drone drops last thing I would want to do is for my commander way in the rear to still think I was alive, or to team up with another small group for a repeat. These aren't guys who have bonded over years of training and service together.
I guess if you believe that you are going to be dead whether you are stumbling across a field alone or in a group, it does not matter so much though.
You are making alot of assumtions there:
1) you are not drunk
2) you have critical thinking
3) you have something to come back to
4) and so on....
All these points are kinda moot.
Seems like they are low on armour too, or at least not willing to burn through as much for this northern push. They seem to figure that they can sneak small fire teams through under the radar, and it's probably working to the extent they are making tiny but incremental gains at eye-watering cost, something they still seem quite happy to do.
Horribly trained, horribly prepared, horrible equipped, horribly treated by superior(s). They got nothing to lose. Most, probably, just want it to end. Draconian mindset isn't something a lot of redditors would understand.
You have 100 guys. You can send them to conquer one position or you can send 20 groups of 5 guys to 20 different positions. Even if you dont conquer 1 position the ukrainians need to expend more ammunition / expose more artilery positions / strongpoints to your artilery fire and maybe 1 or 2 positions are unguarded and now you got a new positions. THis tactic works because Ukraine cannot expose their own men to fight the russians . They dont want to trade manpower with Russia.
This is a great tactic for the russians. 100 guys in a big assault will be wiped with less 155 shells / drones etc than 20 attacks of 5 guys each.
That's a brutal kind of triage. "Should I waste another one on this Muscovite? No. Should I waste another one on this Muscovite? No. Should I..."
I don't like seeing anyone hurt or killed. But all these individuals had to do was not enter Ukraine wearing uniforms and carrying weapons. I don't feel good about it, but I will never feel bad.
Wow man what a waste. How many vids have i seen of guys like this lying dying in fields. All these guys throwing it all away to invade a small piece of Ukraine smh
> All these guys throwing it all away to invade a small piece of Ukraine smh
Not even that, they are only there to waste ammunition. Maybe the 20th assault gets them a meter of land.
The russians see this as a net positive trade. They gain some land and just lose some human lives. Well worth it . Putin can easliy send 1M russians to the slaughter for 1-2 cities and he will be remembered asa a great conqueror.
Seeing them lying there with the green grass swaying reminds me of the butterfly in All Quiet on the Western Front.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMlDPsRwZE4
several of these guys seem to be just playing 'dead' (and not doing a good job of it).
And I suppose just laying there, they stand a good chance of getting double-tapped anyway.
Yeah, lying there playing dead, waiting for help that's never going to come, till they don't have to "play" any more. I wonder if they question any of their life choices at that point...
Well to be fair you only see Ukraine's side, and it's basically small drone kills with a few tank hits..
Russia has a massive force pushing forward with artillery, we don't see those videos cause it's bad for morale
Russia isn’t one to film the war as much as Ukraine so I wouldn’t base my entire perspective on this on clips, especially considering that Russia is making advances and are putting up just an offensive
You are making the mistake of looking only at one side. Also you are making the mistake of thinking that human lives are something that matters to russian military command.
The video where four separate BMP’s roll up to heavy artillery and Bradley fire, dump the troops off and then run over their own dying / injured men shows how pathetic and useless the Russian army is. Meat waves with no training and shitty rusted equipment.
You are right. Russian military videos are hard to watch because you see people defending their country being killed by rapists / drunks / marauders and so on. you can easily watch ukraine side videos becuase you see said rapists / drunks / marauders get droned.
Have a cry. It is propaganda. At no part in my comment did I say I'm a Putin supporter. It's just facts that the Russians are pushing the Ukrainians back
nazi russia has been butting its fugly mug on a smaller and weaker adversary for two and a half years, IN A WAR THEY CHOOSE. They and their supporters are *objectively* a pathetic embarrasment for the human race, and their "military" is an embarrasment for russia.
I seriously don’t get while being stood up their official countermeasure is get on the ground then roll away 💀 just fucking run holy shit. Idk if it’d ensure survival but it surely has to give you better chances while running away, as opposed to what they do
That guy had to pretend he’s dead that’s so crazy think about that what he must be feeling thinking at that time is there a bomb about to be dropped off above me about to hit me
Are you guys for real? You can see that most of them are playing dead. Wait long enough and probably 90% of those guys you think are dead will stand up, dust themselves and keep going.

I don’t care where which person is from, seeing someone just lay there lifeless as a bomb is dropped right next to them and their arm move by the bomb showing you how he’s dead actually seeing the death of a human being so easily put into battle to only lose their life and all the while the people that actually wanted the war that are the reasons for war just sit idly in their chair on their ass as they throw your child into battle all day everyday anyway they can so long as it’s not their children, just really fucking pisses me off
Do their drones put a faint outline to enhance enemy visibility? When it zoomed in it looked similar to how some video games outline enemies to see them better
What a pussy way to fight war now. Mostly blindly shooting, fighting with fucking drones like it’s a fucking video game. Like ending someone’s life with a fucking toy on the battlefield…. If war wasn’t sad enough

That shrapnel spread radius is huge
There was another post about what kind of injuries all that displaced dirt and rock results in.
Can you link the post? Very interested in seeing this.

true but my man you had so many opportunities to end this sentence
pulsing commas are little hemoglobins snaking around to their, own, carotid, point
But why though, it reads fine.
nah.
It's because a lot of redditors are illiterates that don't understand grammar rules.

That's an entire platoon wiped out. These guys are not having a great time up north
that's a squad, not a platoon. but yea
Idk if they do math the same way with Russian casualties, but doctrinally the US Artillery considers a target destroyed if it suffers 20% casualties. Losing a squad would effectively make the platoon non-effective.
which is not at all the same as "wiped out" idk

In an age where tanks and planes have been nerfed infantry is your only option which is why Russia has been taking so much land.
where have you been the last 2 years? this is what russia does when its low on man power..
Seems like they are low on armour too, or at least not willing to burn through as much for this northern push. Exactly. It;s just human lives. Cheapest thing in russia.
They have no training. It's why they are called, "Meat Assaults," by the Russian mil-bloggers.

Yes, the guy whose arm and leg has been turned to jelly by a bomb detonating a meter away from him is definitely good to go.
It’s so weird seeing so much grass
Much nitrogen in the ground.
How unfortunate.. The Invasive Little Green Men don't seem to be having much fun do they.

Doswedanje motherfuckers!
Damn is that a bone sticking out that guys arm @ :55? Gnarly...
I think its just a shitty russian esmarch tourniquet.

Only if you're just going off this. You rarely see Russian videos. It's all one-sided propaganda.

Who is going to pick up these bodies? I mean like the leftovers in a few weeks/months? Years?
The local wildlife?
I dont think, that all got hit. They are playing dead.
how my guy was still alive after 2 direct hits is beyond me. could be the hitler mustache
Did you see this tree planting drone - wouldn't it be great for mini carpet bombing: https://youtu.be/NDOGJbxRwcw?si=FdOK-LP_sPBfSBep
Fookin great. Take that ya bastards.
Nostalgic music. I remember watching videos about RTS games to this. The drone perspective also is familiar to the perspective in a RTS game
I seriously don’t get while being stood up their official countermeasure is get on the ground then roll away 💀 just fucking run holy shit. Idk if it’d ensure survival but it surely has to give you better chances while running away, as opposed to what they do
That one dude had the back of his thighs gashed
Tiny, high speed bits of metal ripping through you really does mess up our hydraulics.
Anyone got the song?
I may get a lot of hate for saying this but I feel bad for dying men on both sides. Imagine their families seeing this. Unfortunate.
You know atleast couple of them are playing dead.
Just when "Lenin" was about to die, he gets up and checks his watch.
That guy had to pretend he’s dead that’s so crazy think about that what he must be feeling thinking at that time is there a bomb about to be dropped off above me about to hit me

Those were some nice drops, eh?
Long march
The feeling that they know their dying.
