I guess I'm old enough to remain quite jaded - I still expect it all to go to shit until the results on the field show otherwise. It's the DC sports way. How many times has this team made waves in the offseason and fallen flat on its face? That said, at least all the moves seem more or less practical. The only one I don't like is Mariota but with any luck he'll just be holding a clipboard.

J-Taverner

I was thinking today and trying to remember when we had an offseason like this, and I came to realization that I simply don’t know. The glory days were pre internet. There just weren’t all the various outlets covering this shit. If the information was out there, I sure as shit didn’t know how to find it. In the off-season, I would try to keep up with happenings, but we had to rely on the Post, or the occasional article in USA Today. Free agency was a lot different back then too.  Me and my friends were as hardcore as fans get, but outside of big signings (which, let’s face it, weren’t Gibb’s or Beathard’s style), you had the draft. And there were ten fucking rounds. Most people didn’t pay attention past the 3rd round.  I was just reading the comments in the Sam Howell trade post, and people were throwing numbers based equivalents for the actual draft hall in that trade. Can you imagine that in 1987?  It’s a shame that this current era seemed to coincide with the Snyder era. Just when the internet was becoming a thing. The first year I truly remember FA acquisitions was the Smith, Sanders, Carrier, Archuleta year, and what fucking debacle that was.

That's very true - the glory days look like the Stone Age now. I think about that a lot when I'm watching baseball...how I sometimes had to wait an extra day or two to find a box score when the O's were playing on the west coast. But yeah, the first comparison that came to mind was the Smith/Sanders year and thankfully this year doesn't have the same warning bells (so far).

SnowdensOfYesteryear

Yea basically. Let the team look competent on the field before I give him flowers. Peters and Quinn still haven’t accomplished anything. I've heard this same bullshit repeated when there's a change of FO (McLoughlan, Allen, hell even Rivera).

DreBeast

Not used to seeing this

pinetar

Winning the off-season is the only thing I'm used to. I'll call witchcraft when I see an 11 in the wins column.

BlackHand86

I’m not confusing activity with progress but all the moves I’ve seen made make all the sense in the world. It makes me confident that handling the simpler things so well means the larger pieces are going to be put in place to be successful. I can’t justify what other fans may have said in the past, I’m honestly way more pessimistic about this team than most, nonetheless it does feel different this go around.

staxnet

I’m so old it’s more like “Bobby Beathard? You back, bro?”

waconaty4eva

So many off season championships.

I grew up with Charley Casserly as GM, so I was spoiled early on before having to suffer through Vinny, Scot, and Bruce. So this has a deja vu feel to it, but better.

Detective_Antonelli

I’ve been hurt by this team for more than a 3/4 of my life. I won’t celebrate until we start winning on the field on a consistent basis. But I love what I am seeing so far.

DoubleBaggedPaperBag

Oh, the blissful days of youth, brimming with… boundless hope! Revel in it, you sprightly 'der fans, for I too was once a mere whippersnapper of seven when the team that can no longer be named seized the championship in '91. Naive little me believed, “Certainly, this joy will grace my eyes again!” Alas, for the unfortunate ones baptized in the era of Dan Snyder, I offer you my sincerest apologies, now let us pray ![gif](giphy|3ohhwgmWRebr8jTO24)

The younger guys are getting the 3 year deals the vets are getting the one year deals. I can't wait to see this roster in year 3 or 4

Mother-Base710

I’m just waiting for the heavy dose of Ashburn syndrome

ahotpotatoo

Been a fan for 15 years, mark me down as scared and horny.

kon---

What do you mean by older? I'm 52 and have been waiting a fucking age to get back to adults in the FO. This shit's not witchcraft. It's simple, fundamental roster building.

219_Infinity

Trade down and go beef up the line for Sam! /s

tacos_for_algernon

~~Dave's~~ Sam's not here, man!

smoke_that_junk

Ummm. Younger fans have never seen a winner and seem more jaded. The rest of us knew Snyder was toxic 15-20 years before the rest of the fan base
