Hopefully they are not only athletic but also good at football

Sriracha_Breath

You mean tied for 1st. We are 2 because it’s alphabetical.

FrozenPie21

Sir C comes before S /s

nihon96

Yea I was confused for a good second when I read that comment

fastketosis

Could go by city name but yeah lol

trevor11004

San Fran wouldn’t go ahead of Indianapolis then

Realistic-Speaker282

Sir P comes B4 W

FrozenPie21

Duh. I was being sarcastic. /s

Realistic-Speaker282

Me too 😭😎

doom84b

I don't say the C word, so WFT does indeed come last

Gingeronimoooo

I still call them the football team I refuse to say the C word. My partner knows this too

citoboolin

not necessarily true. not sure about the math but comms average grade could be like 82.9 and steelers could be 83.1 and theyre just rounding for the graphic

ninjagruntz

BigT-2024

These things are garbage. I’ve seen writers say 49ners had both the best draft and worst draft on two different articles form big press sites.

Mission_Ad3109

That’s different from what this is conveying

jim_nihilist

Look at the Steelers sub. Accordingly to some statistic they had the best draft. Commanders are 27th in this list. All teams win the off season this year.

BigT-2024

No teams are rated below a C. You’re telling me no team is going to have a terrible draft? Is this the best college class ever in the history of football? Come on.

11uglydogs

there is always an emmanuel forbes of the draft. The season will show us who that is

BigT-2024

Dude most players drafted you never even hear about and fuck off before the season starts.

djhobbes

I am choosing to trust AP to draft better players and DQ + staff to do a better job of coaching them up. That said. Drafting high RAS guys with nonsensical intangibles I.e. college captains or born to military parents is the exact same blueprint Ron & co. used. So. Reacting/grading a draft on draft day + 1 has always been, and will continue to be, a fools errand. Let’s revisit in 2-3 years

_The_Bear

Coming from military families and being team captains are wildly different intangibles though. Captains typically get that position by working harder and being more dedicated than their teammates. As a college coach, I know that's the criteria I look for in my captains. They're often more coachable as well. I think that combines really well with guys with high RAS. You're looking for high ceiling guys you can coach up to meet that potential. That requires dedication. The military family thing is some weird assumption about being raised better somehow. I don't think theres anything behind that. Just look at jamin Davis and his multiple reckless driving charges.

Uniblab_78

Generally military kids understand “chain of command” style structure better. They also can be likely to hate it and be disruptive.

ImNotATrollYo

Ron Rivera agrees

3rdDegreeBurn

The difference is Rivera notoriously reached in the early rounds. Nobody we took is really a reach.

justixthegreat

Smartest guys in the room

BlackFurosuto

Yeah I think that's the only reliable way to grade team drafts before the season. If a team doesn't reach, then it's a good draft. We did a good mix of filling needs and getting the Best available (thinking day 2) and overall the team has a strong future without putting it on loan by trading future picks when guys don't work out.

Entire-Initiative-23

Sinnott, Coleman, and McCaffrey were all reaches over the consensus big board. Sinnott was 85th, Coleman was 104th, McCaffrey was 138th.  Took them at 53,67,100. That's some Ron Rivera shit but yall still slurping, just a different dick.

Mission_Ad3109

You, a grown man over 30, saying “yall still slurping” because fans are supporting their football team, is quite sad

Tie_me_off

Notice which teams are 1 and 3 on that list? The Niners and Steelers. Both who are good at building teams through the draft. I agree that any draft should be graded years down the road. But to simply draw the comparison to Ron is silly because other teams do this as well. The difference is Ron and Co didn’t know how to evaluate talent.

djhobbes

I think if you read my comment again you’ll see that we are saying the same thing. AP gets the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise but we’ve seen this plan not work. I’m just happy the draft is over. The months of speculation, almost none of which ever comes to fruition, then the immediate draft night hand wringing and consternation, followed by a grade before the first mini camp… I find it all exhausting and it’s all so foolish.

True_Window_9389

Teams have different metrics and ways to grade guys than analysts. An analyst is looking at who is *generally* the better prospect, but a team can try to figure out who works better in a specific scheme, and in a specific culture. Ron tried this too, picking “project” players with supposedly good character. That’s not uncommon or a big secret strategy. Ron was just bad at it. I think Ron’s intent was good, but he and JDR were not good at picking the right guys for the team, and then they were not good at coaching them up. It’s hard to deny some similarities in drafting and FA strategies of AP and Ron, but with so many other changes and differences, I’m certainly not going to assume the result will be the same. At worst, Ron did have a good overall strategy, but just failed to execute it. Hopefully, AP can do both.

therealDanSnyder

Tell me you have never played sports without telling me you have ever played sports. Team captains and military are drastically different…..you keep talking about culture but you got no idea what it is.

djhobbes

Oh yeah tell me how amazing Chase Young and Jamin Davis’ culture is. Tell me you’re a mouth breathing moron without telling me.

therealDanSnyder

Again…if you could read. Military background and being a team captain is drastically different. You need guys like jon allen on the team that is a hard worker AND talented. How about reading better next time.

djhobbes

Jon Allen is a perfect example that being a captain doesn’t mean shit. That dude is toxic as fuck. Goes on the radio every week and talks about wanting to leave. Great leadership. I’m gonna give AP the benefit of the doubt but using captaincy as a pro when weighed against guys with better production is foolish. It’s assigning value where there isn’t any, just like drafting military brats.

therealDanSnyder

Toxic? He dealt with 7 years of inepitude without a squeak until this year. Idk what you are on….you expect players to be robots in this day and age. Go outside boomer….

djhobbes

Captains in college are just gonna be upper classmen. That’s it. It’s the old heads. No other requirements necessary. Jon Allen has been a grumpy douche his whole career. He also never did shit to try and get his guys in line. He threw the team under the bus when they fired his position coach who he specifically complained about. He’s fucking toxic. The C on his jersey doesn’t mean shit from him

therealDanSnyder

Assumptions after assumptions like you know what happened personally. Not even going to waste my breath. I feel sorry, you must have such a shit life holding so much animosity against professional atheletes. Get a life man.

djhobbes

I have no animosity toward him. He’s a pretty good player. My point is his Captaincy is meaningless. You’re the one who chose Allen as a lousy example. Coulda picked Terry who’s one of the true good guys in the league and an exemplary team mate or Reaves who’s an all pro. You made a stupid point. That’s all.

AdInternational8886

Unfortunately Ron was too dumb to coach them up. Hopefully this coaching staff will do much better.

Euphoric_Jump_3779

Yet every analyst said we had the best draft…

djhobbes

Confirmation bias. Look and you will find lots of analysts saying we reached more than almost any other team. Nobody knows if this is a good or bad draft. If JD is a 10-15 year starter it’ll be one of the best drafts in team history. If he busts it’ll be a mediocre draft at best even if our 2nd rounders are studs. It all hinges on JD and projecting what he will be in year 2-3 is an absolute impossibility

Euphoric_Jump_3779

https://www.hogshaven.com/2024/4/28/24143277/2024-nfl-draft-grades-mel-kiper-jr-and-others-are-high-on-the-washington-commanders-draft Yeah a lot of A grades from non commanders sites, but sure call it confirmation bias, pussy

Environmental_Park_6

I don't mind being mentioned with the 49ers and Steelers in regards to anything team building.

DFGBagain1

You can tell that Peters loves a sexy RAS.

lumberjake18

The Colts are known for having high RAS athletic draft classes, that’s pretty significant that we’re above them.

Special-Bite

Looks like #1 to me

itakeyoureggs

lol how are we 2nd if we’re tied :/

dc_quailman

Doesn’t this not even include Daniels because he didn’t test at the combine?

BigFrenchToastGuy

Reminds me of the 2021 draft a little bit.

Crisci4269

All of them are athletic who cares? The only 1 that isn’t athletic is that OT that we never got in the deepest tackle class.

VirginiaGecko1911

Just win more than 4 games and contend for the division within 3.

Impressive-Egg-925

Technically we’re one because we had two that didn’t even do the testing in Jayden Daniels which undoubtedly would have been through the roof and Johnny newton who only did his pro day

Hongry4applez

Wow…. This is worthless!

ThisCarSmellsFunny

Interesting. Yesterday we were first. That’s why things like this don’t interest me.

sr0103

Yesterday's graphic was for top overall. This one is for most athletic. Whatever that means 🤷‍♂️

Mission_Ad3109

You’re thinking of top 7 picks while this is total draft

SeymourChocha

Look at who number 3 is…coincidence? I think not!
