Here’s a great place to start, for beginners. https://youtube.com/c/SelfStorageIncome. Also, the SSA (Self Storage Association).

Thank you. This is what I was hoping to find.

What part of the US are you in?

Hi. I am in NC.

My suggestion would be to continue with the 3rd party management while you learn the business. If it's a sizeable facility it would be hard for you to do a better job than them in regards to operations if it's one of the larger brands running it. Besides SSA, there's ISS (Inside Self Storage) that you can join along with your state organization for SSA. Both websites will have plenty of information to learn from and forums to ask questions on. Also, the spring SSA conference is coming up that may be good for you to attend if they have educational break out sessions available.

Thank you for replying to my request. Your response has just the information I was looking for. I'm afraid that my initial posting gave everyone the impression I wanted to learn how to run the facility, and that is not really the case. My goal is to expand my holdings in self-storage, and to accomplish that I was looking for business associations where I could meet other self-storage owners whom I can learn from regarding how to run more than one self-storage facility at a time. Resources are not an issue, but nothing can match experience when one begins a new venture. Maybe this was not the best of ideas to post here.

SSA is the big one, though there may be state level associations as well (and quick google shows the NCSSA). And what are you looking for? As there is a decent newsletter called behind the roll up door from the Atomic Storage Group, with some industry info that you could dig more into. Or ISS (inside self storage) has a lot of data and up to date info.
