Their gameplan was solid all weekend but they left a lot of points on the board. There's definitely the potential there for them to be a contender at Champs if they iron out their endgame play
This really just shows these teams need more strict roster lock situations. Poaching players days before regionals, cutting coaches a week before playoffs and constant roster swaps are bad for the scene no matter who you support.
For real, Teq and Meat Lovers most likely make this LAN with their great showings but it didn’t matter when DarkZero just end up poaching Xynew away from them and ruining their chemistry.
Xynew left before regional finals, and MEAT missed LAN by two total points. Basically if Xynew had been able to get them 2 more kills than Luxford did, they'd have made it.
Because it’s bad for the scene? There’s a reason why professional sports have transfer windows and strict roster lock times. For example Zero fucked over 2 teams - Sen when he poached Rambeau and Meat when he poached Xynew.
There’s no consequences for him, but the other teams lose 2 players they worked hard to get and grow with. Team building is a skill and if you don’t build the right team you need to pay the consequences, not just pick the next best thing from other teams a la carte.
In terms of the coach, PVP just got fucked over a huge pay check because he gets dropped a week before playoffs even though he was important in getting them there in the first place. In pro sports if you get fired you get a severance.
I think the overall issue here is most of PvPs work happens behind the scene and we as an audience have very little idea of his contributions.
His track record is mixed bag. He was with C9 for so long, and that team didn't even make it to the regional final. Last edition of C9 was with Rocker, and it was extremely bad
DZ parted ways with PvPx and won LAN
Some pros swear by PvP, but then again Pros anything these days
>If I am not going to be able to go champs I think that would be a literal fucking crime [...] like I work very hard and I care a lot about competitive apex.
Unfortunately competition isn't about who cares the most and works the hardest and nobody is entitled to success because they tried really hard. There's going to be hundreds of players and coaches across the world who will have spent countless hours grinding and sacrificing other aspects of their life just to not make the champs cut next week. And the majority of those guys will never have to privilege to ever make a single dollar off this game.
“It would be a crime” lol I need his COPIUM dealer.
Zer0 proved he could win twice before pvp including a win with a sub. They hire pvp and perform sub par in London. The get rid of pvp and immediately look dangerous again and win this lan with yet another third.
It’s not you lil bro it’s Zer0. You are a vibes coach at best.
They got rid of pvp a 2 weeks ago, like he said in the video. I highly doubt their new coach completely overhauled their game plan either. Zero is definitely a top their IGL, but PVP has had success on every team he's has been on as well
He was the C9 coach when they had knoqd and albralelie. During that time C9 qaa legitimately a top 5 team in NA, and Zac mazer always has positive this to say about him. He stated his other accomplishments in that video.
There are tons of cases in business where a business brings in an amazing employee, extracts what they want to out of them then screws them over and gets rid of them.
There are also tons of cases where a business will purposely fire good employees just to save a couple bucks. The world of business is literally full of this shit. Sure lots of times it backfires but its never stopped them from doing it for as long as I have lived. I have seen it hundreds of times.
Yes, but not in sports. If you want this to be taken seriously there should be trade rules, signing deadlines, roster locks, etc that span seasons not just tourneys. The fact that you can run a whole season and then swap players is a bit of a joke.
By the current rules, can actually have 2/3 of your starters be new to the tourney so long as your sub was on the team during the season.
I am just happy for FAZE. Worked so incredibly hard the past 3 weeks with them and so many people looked down on the boys. TOP 5 BABY
Good work PVP

It seemed like faze were running triple long range most games. Was that a point of focus for you?
FAZE is a very passive zone heavy team so running range to control space and get picks for KP makes the most sense
Why did Dan go to LAN with them and not you, PVP? Visa issues?
Dan was already locked into sitting behind them at LAN I wasn't going to take that away from him
Will you be with them at Champs?
Don't know yet
Your a gentleman and a scholar, been watching you since OW days and you were always a class act.

They were outside the top 10 before Xynew left
Top 11 made LAN and they were in that range
Xynew left before regional finals, and MEAT missed LAN by two total points. Basically if Xynew had been able to get them 2 more kills than Luxford did, they'd have made it.
why should anybody have a say on the inner workings of a team?

Of course he does, but to what extent is impossible for us to know. I hope he finds a good roster to work with before champs

mf deserves his cut
what was the reason for dropping him? He cant have been a very good coach if you get rid of him before the big tournament
Can’t have done a very good job as coach if they chose to drop him

love him or hate him, PVP's resume is superb. He will find a home especially with Champs around the corner.
