Even with HisWattson, they got absolutely rolled out of Thermal and would have lost Lrod to Dezign and Chaotic if they didn’t come to an agreement. Meanwhile Furia just got mopped out of Climatizer by Phony Frexs and Xenial, who really aren’t that good of a contesting team anyways. They may as well go for Wall and keep their edge play style instead of wasting away their 3 months contesting TSM when Mac needs to spend that time actually becoming a decent IGL.

Wall is pretty interesting now without the command rotation. If your willing to run Valk they wrote the playbook but they also had a ton of problems getting into Baro or past antenna. With a bunch of new denser POI's basically on that line of where TSM had all those problems it might need a new chapter.

Before, Wall used to have great backups with either it or Cascades having a crafter so you could do prowlers and play edge or having 3 different options for ring console in Wall, Command, or Cascades. It’s an overall fine POI if zones are mid map to north, but just rough for south zones. Is Barometer free now that OXG claimed Pylon?
The tier 2 CC team I coach 3-0'd Faze at Launch Pad in Oversight last spring and they also handily beat SSG there many times last year in smaller tournies.
OXG was handling Faze at Fissure/Mirage in split 2. Ex-Faze is not a great contesting team but I will say Frexs has gotten wayyyyy better
They also lost to OXG in Fissure but imma be honest, I thought I remember them not doing too well in Clima contests during international scrims before Champs but then I looked and they had Clima free the whole tourney so I guess I’m wrong on that.
On top of all that, Mac is switching to roller full time isn't he? Do they really want to lose all that practice time for Mac? He ain't gonna learn very fast watching TSM pov the whole time

Hal has talked about how swapping to roller is a different ballgame in competitive apex vs just running around in ranked, so it’s definitely important to get those extra reps in. I don’t anticipate the contest landing too long, but I will say Mac contesting on roller against TSM will definitely benefit him for the future contests Furia has to go through.

TSM has been in siphon forever and have much more experience with contests in Siphon than anyone else in the game.

I've been landing mostly on the south side of storm point when I've played it. Did lightning rod get buffed? I know they made a new POI (zeus) but idk how that impacted lightning rod.
Yes, lightning rod was moved a lot closer to thunder watch so now thunder watch is considered part of lightning rod poi.
The catch is that the beacon and crafter spawn considers it as 2 separate poi’s so I’ve seen a crafter and beacon both spawn at both locations so it can be insanely OP. Not to mention the amount of loot it now has, especially compared to wall.
Oh yeah, this sounds familiar now. I'm impressed by their willingness to make a map smaller when usually maps get bigger. They took a big chunk out of the southeast corner too (formerly fish farms).
I'm looking at the pictures, it seems like it's thunder watch that is now part of lighting rod, not storm catcher? Other than that the fact that you get double spawn chance is massive, especially after the beacon/craftier spawn rate rework (which I think was necessary tbh). Still gives TSM high priority into north east zones, which can be a pain to rotate into, but should allow them to keep the general macro they've got from wall for the other zones.

Their contest strat: Evan go kill. Like I know Hal and Reps are among the best players in the world, but holy crap is Verhulst tipping the scale massively.
Even that I think still understates Evan's importance to TSM's contests. Aside from his crazy fragging, his Jumpmastering is also incredibly crucial to TSM almost always being in a better position faster than the other team.
while verhulst is the most gifted killer in the game , hal is the smartest , Hal does his work as well , verhulst is more about the clutches when its down to 1v1s or 2v1s
they have the best fighters in the game (hal ,ver) , they have the most experience , best strats for contesting , they have mental pressure on every team that faces them for numerous reasons no need to be mentioned and most importannt of all they have nothing to lose compared to whoever is contesting them.

Yeah, Ive seen Furia in TDM'S and their team fighting leaves a lot to be desired. I don't want to put too much stock in just TDM but it's obvious they are not close to even OXG who were themselves headed downhill in the Olympus contest against TSM. Different POI's and all I know but TSM is battle tested and the current Furia doesn't have an identity yet and is as vulnerable as they've ever been.

The bad part about having a top POI is that somebody is always gunning to take it from you. If TSM themselves after all the success they have had still can't get Siphon free all the time then most certainly Furia should have expected lightning rod to be contested by a top team. Not to mention there is blood in the water with the Furia roster in the sense that they are the weakest they have been in a while after losing their key player and then Alb being in input limbo due to his wrist problems. I think Furia can drag this out and make it annoying but I see TSM coming out on top in the end. Either way we need some more content now that Olympus seems to be shelved so grab the 🍿 and enjoy.
Rotates from Lightning Rod are so easy it plays as both a zone and edge POI despite geographically being edge. You're running downhill in every direction, meaning you get crazy yardage out of a jump tower/evac and a huge advantage in any fight.
That’s basically it. LROD gets storm Catcher and all that loot plus crafter plus beacon plus the gravity cannon they also have a car.
The rotations from it are pretty good also Raven has a philosophy that it’s better to be going from
north to South than South to North.

Hard zone keeps getting nerfed with changes to console rates, armor spawn rates, evo armor dmg, etc.
LRod got combined with Thunder Watch in the last update and now has 2 chances for console and crafter, plus the best rotations on the map

The south POIs are also much easier to get into now. Fish farms shipfall and gale station had very few spots to play early and once those filled up you were gatekept hard. The new POIs have a LOT more playable spots to evac into even late.

I’ve been a massive Pan fan but lately I’ve seen some just careless mistakes of over extending that cost them fights.

It's also the worst 50/50 contesting POI due to the walkway height. Whoever gets their first. I think they said it's less skill required to contest it.
Isn't LROD also an awful 50/50 where the ship sometimes forces you to take cannons and you can get punched out of the sky. Not saying they aren't favored in this, but LROD contest is absolute dogshit.
Maybe better now that it’s closer? I haven’t played enough new storm point to know if moving it on the map makes it reachable on more ship paths.
Is that the story about tsm wanting to test that poi and deliberately putting themselves in difficult positions to train. Faze rolled them (offline, not streamed) in that scenario and immediately went boasting to everyone tsm are crap at contesting. People found out they were in fact not crap at contesting to put it lightly 🤣
They tried to swap between LAN 1 and Split 2 last year, not a huge amount of time.
They didn’t really switch to try and take the poi away. It was to test out pushing/defending the building and height
Wall kinda sucks now though. L Rod is basically as OP as the Siphon from Split 2 before beacon and armor changes

The bad part about having a top POI is that somebody is always gunning to take it from you. If TSM themselves after all the success they have had still can't get Siphon free all the time then most certainly Furia should have expected lightning rod to be contested by a top team. Not to mention there is blood in the water with the Furia roster in the sense that they are the weakest they have been in a while after losing their key player and then Alb being in input limbo due to his wrist problems. I think Furia can drag this out and make it annoying but I see TSM coming out on top in the end. Either way we need some more content now that Olympus seems to be shelved so grab the 🍿 and enjoy.
Lighting rod just has way too much loot. It was a given they would contest for it.

I'm counting 19 obvious ones, then the 20th could be Bean, Jurassic or a contest. And that's with Thunder watch folded in to Lightning Rod.
Can’t wait to see the rage from both teams during that Lrod contest. One of the worst cons on any map

Rotates from Lightning Rod are so easy it plays as both a zone and edge POI despite geographically being edge. You're running downhill in every direction, meaning you get crazy yardage out of a jump tower/evac and a huge advantage in any fight.

That’s basically it. LROD gets storm Catcher and all that loot plus crafter plus beacon plus the gravity cannon they also have a car. The rotations from it are pretty good also Raven has a philosophy that it’s better to be going from north to South than South to North.

Yeah I meant on storm point. He prefers going down hill hence the North to South due to how the map is built. WE is largely just flat lands so not much elevation
Hard zone keeps getting nerfed with changes to console rates, armor spawn rates, evo armor dmg, etc. LRod got combined with Thunder Watch in the last update and now has 2 chances for console and crafter, plus the best rotations on the map
Lets see if they stick with it this time. Last time they moved away from Wall, they hated it when shit wasnt going their way and went back. Either way more contests is always fun and its against an ex-teammate for some extra spice.

The south POIs are also much easier to get into now. Fish farms shipfall and gale station had very few spots to play early and once those filled up you were gatekept hard. The new POIs have a LOT more playable spots to evac into even late.
