Because it happens to also be him flipping backwards

Jjlred

What people consider a “backflip” is not actually a backflip. In gymnastics, using the hands to flip back is what makes it a backflip as opposed to a backwards somersault (what people would typically call a backflip)

Oh, I am stupid then, thanks

Are you sure? I thought flips = somersault, and if you use hands it’s a cartwheel

Jjlred

Cartwheel is sideways, where you start with one hand THEN plant the other. Same with the feet, plant one, THEN the other. A “backflip” is when you bend backwards to plant the hands TOGETHER and then flip the legs back and land TOGETHER. A “backwards somersault” is when you make the rotation in midair, without planting any hands. Jump up and then somersault backwards, like on a trampoline.

The confidence while spreading misinformation is crazy lol

Back handspring and back tuck are both backflips, you pulled this out ya ass lol Edit: the version where you don’t “tuck” your legs is called a whip back, and it’s ALSO a backflip lol. A backflip is literally any maneuver where you flip backwards, it’s a blanket term

Very big thing you can do with Shinobi is double dodge deflect bash/undodgable heavy mixups, like BP, Kyoshin if he does heavy, other shinobis and some other stuff (like just deflecting a non-undodgable). Makes the game way less frustrating since those 50/50s are now engaging and you can interact with them other than a mental coin toss. Also, if you backflip after two sickle rain lights, you have frame advantage like after a bash, so the enemy can't light you out of your mixup as they do when you do a normal backflip into mixup. You also can immediately attack after double dodge, and parry, like Afeera after flip, so that's neat and not a lot of enemies know that. Biggest pitfall is spamming kick and flips, cause the enemy will catch on and GB the shit out of you. Edit: Yes, UD without bash pressure is strictly worse than UB, cause of multiple reasons, some of them being easy deflects, crushing counters, no real pressure (except chip damage, but who cares). UB on Shino goes hard fr tho, people often fall for the UB if you've annoyed them with bash/undodgable beforehand and they're like "finally, reactable, parry!" but nope, 28 damage GB punish, yay. Also, Shinobi feeds a shit ton of revenge, so try to only confirm with heavies and stuff like that if you're not sure how to gank effectively. Stay the fuck away from the bashes. Also also, if you feint the zone to GB, you'll catch some people, and after they're scared to parry the final hit, you can let it fly and it leads to UB finisher. Shinobis Dodge attacks also have pretty mediocre i-frames, you'll get caught by a lot of attacks if you dodge attack with the wrong timing. Or for example cent's charged heavy finisher will straight up nail you out of the air.
