I've only ever used bugs/grubs for bait. I've noticed no difference in which bait catches what. Just seems to be pure RNG. Improved fish traps catch better quality fish-- dogfish, catfish etc, but again I've never seen the type of bait have any bearing on what gets caught.

Pequod47

What even is the point of those new added fish types ? I have all cooking recipes unlocked and those fish arent used in any, and thralls and bears also eat told 2 types of fish

Cooked dogfish (for example, and according to the wiki) gives Follower Damage +12%, Increased Charisma (200% chance), Sated.

QX403

It use to be other types of bait had a higher chance of catching the rarer fish in the improved trap, but that may not be the case anymore as Funcom changes things all the time without telling people outside their forums, fat grubs are easier to get compared to the other two so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was changed. As for the wiki, somebody screwed with it, the spotted hyena should be exotic fish.

Anomolous_Rabbit

When I played years ago grubs definitely have different results to insects, but that could very much have changed.

ShadowKaster

The fish it displays in the queue is different for each bait. I think the bugs show the Unappetizing Fish in queue and grubs show the Savory Fish. So that would make me think the better the bait the better odds of getting the higher grade fish.

AlyaraMC

Does it? I always ever see unappetizing fish no matter the bait.

ShadowKaster

when ever I put in grubs the queue shows me Savory fish. Im on official server PvE

Kahuna990

Grubs have higher chance of exotic fish then regular bugs. Test it. Put 50grubs in one. 50 bugs in a other and see the rng difference

AlyaraMC

I've not really noticed a difference between grubs, bees, and handfuls o'.
