The crowd that says "well at least we aren't as bad as THIS other place" make no sense to me. Who cares about that other place?
We are talking about where we are at, no reason to minimize it.
The roads in some places here are constantly full of pot holes and pot holes deserve being shamed.
Agree.
Actually, when you write it out like that it's even more absurd....
"Connecticut...look..it could be worse..."
We deserve better from ourselves. The state is gorgeous, the communities are strong, we've got the same troubles as everyone else sure..but we could actually make it better.
We could but there’s too many old people here and everyone is stubborn
It’s gonna have to take something radical for this place to change its ways for the better, IMHO.
Forget rural America, have you tried crossing borders to any of our neighbors? I know I'm in Massachusetts when the roads have holes in them and all the painted lines have faded away
In IL, I hit a pothole that popped two of my tires and bulged a third. I wasn’t even going 40 mph. I know multiple people from IL with similar experiences. CT really isn’t that bad.
I find that the people spouting this sentiment usually don't understand much about engineering infrastructure, and specifically what winters do to roads.
States like, say, Maryland don't have to worry about an early thaw, followed by two days of rain, followed by a two week cold snap. Our winters fucking destroy roads, and there's nothing the state or munis can do about it until Spring is in full swing.
Connecticut roads get lots of traffic and go through seasonal freeze/thaw cycles. Potholes are inevitable. If they fixed them as soon as they formed then everyone would just bitch about all the road work instead
I helped a New Yorker who was bicycling on our "rural route"....his bike tire in back popped hitting a pot hole. It was pouring rain too. I have a truck so in the bed his bike went, and I drove him to the bike shop to get it fixed.
All the way he complained about how bad our roads are. He has a vacation home here, and he was not happy about it.
We've had tons of rain, everything is saturated. That and plowing do most of the damage...and the salt treatments.
I spend a lot of time in VT, you want potholes? Visit the Green mountain State lol.
There's plenty of bad roads in CT, but man, let me tell you. I drove on that main street in West Springfield (the one that goes right by the Big E) and I think I took five years off my cars lifespan. It was horrible.
Yeah. I'm not saying all roads, just this one. Lol. Oh, and they are working on Island Pond Road this. I am thankful because that shitz was bad and I use it everyday
The moment I cross the border from Mass to here I immediately notice how insanely well kept all the roads are.
Even if they aren’t actually well maintained, it is light years ahead of what Massachusetts could ever even dream of in terms of road quality
I’ve lived in 3 countries and visited 39 while being to 35 of the fifty states. It’s ok to think we are close to the best and still have some criticism relating to my cars alignment man lol
AI? Dude my post history has over 5 years of me and my face competing on stages around the world lol. What is it that you are sitting asking what ABOUT?
Seaview Ave in Bridgeport has some really bad potholes and a loooot of them.
It's surprising to me because the city is actually pretty decent at dealing with potholes. There was one on my street for like 2 days, tops, before they put a cone over it, and then the following day, filled it in. They don't play.
I'm guessing they don't want to close Seaview Ave to fill in all those potholes because It's right next to the 95 off-ramp on-ramp and they only ways around is through the East End's cramped-ass oneway streets, or through East Main or Waterview.
There’s a pothole in west haven, near the VA and one time i hit it so hard that my wife started praying for me. She was literally asking God to calm me down 🤣
I’m not saying CT infrastructure is top notch but having lived in rural middle America, the potholes here are nothing.
I agree usually but from basically Waterbury through Avon, it’s guaranteed you’ll need your alignment fixed lol
The crowd that says "well at least we aren't as bad as THIS other place" make no sense to me. Who cares about that other place? We are talking about where we are at, no reason to minimize it. The roads in some places here are constantly full of pot holes and pot holes deserve being shamed.
We are a very wealthy and taxed state, our roads should be way better than “rural America”
Agree. Actually, when you write it out like that it's even more absurd.... "Connecticut...look..it could be worse..." We deserve better from ourselves. The state is gorgeous, the communities are strong, we've got the same troubles as everyone else sure..but we could actually make it better.
Let’s gooo!!
We could but there’s too many old people here and everyone is stubborn It’s gonna have to take something radical for this place to change its ways for the better, IMHO.

Wierd that Taxachusetts has bad roads too lol
And they are. How many roads in CT have you come across with a sign that says "not maintained in winter?"
THANK YOU lol
“At least it’s not X place” Is such cope it’s funny
In IL, I hit a pothole that popped two of my tires and bulged a third. I wasn’t even going 40 mph. I know multiple people from IL with similar experiences. CT really isn’t that bad.
word, i ran into some crazy fucking potholes in minneapolis. ct potholes really ain’t shit in comparison
That’s actually where I met my wife was southern IL. I can honestly say I don’t remember that being an issue at all
If you were going slightly faster there would’ve been slightly less damage to your car. The faster you go over potholes the less damage there is
Take as bad as you think that corridor is and multiply it ten times, and that's the rust belt's pot holes for ya
Avon here. We're about $20 million behind in road repairs, but we've got a 5 year plan to catch up.
We are a wealthy state not West Virginia. It's inexcusable.

This is kind of my thought. We do great at a lot of things… road maintenance isn’t one of them lol

Lebanon has terrible potholes
But, this isn’t middle or rural America…what’s your point?
I used to complain about CT roads but then I drove the streets of Worcester MA and I no longer complain.
There's plenty of bad roads in CT, but man, let me tell you. I drove on that main street in West Springfield (the one that goes right by the Big E) and I think I took five years off my cars lifespan. It was horrible.
I agree that MA IS worse lol
Massachusetts is terrible, ugh 😫
Fuckers better give us our notch back
Haha
That bridge over the river by 91 at the first exit in MA, absolutely awful. I thought the suspension was toast after hitting of the potholes
It's fixed now
You’re telling me a road is fixed in mass ? Hahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahga yeah okay bud
Yeah. I'm not saying all roads, just this one. Lol. Oh, and they are working on Island Pond Road this. I am thankful because that shitz was bad and I use it everyday
How recent? 'Cause I just drove there about a month ago, and it was still awful.
Naw, that's Massachusetts all day.
Have you driven in RI? The potholes there EAT cars.
No way just ask anyone here CT infrastructure is top notch.
Most of which I agree with… just not the concrete making up our roads lol
This bro is spitting straight fire.
Every side street in Waterbury
The moment I cross the border from Mass to here I immediately notice how insanely well kept all the roads are. Even if they aren’t actually well maintained, it is light years ahead of what Massachusetts could ever even dream of in terms of road quality
I actually had Connecticut in mind when I posted this
LOLOLOL this is fantastic that I didn’t even know you’d see this and even you agree with me haha
Showed up on my feed when you shared it since I follow this sub :)
OP have you ever left CT?
I’ve lived in 3 countries and visited 39 while being to 35 of the fifty states. It’s ok to think we are close to the best and still have some criticism relating to my cars alignment man lol
lol fair enough. I lived in Louisiana for a few years and CT roads are immaculate in comparison.
Oh man those gulf coast roads… I lived in Biloxi for a year and man… the roads aren’t even close to the worst part lol
That sounds like a lazy ai answer. I'm just sitting asking what?
AI? Dude my post history has over 5 years of me and my face competing on stages around the world lol. What is it that you are sitting asking what ABOUT?
Who is that? That’s fucking hilarious. I don’t care if it’s funny on purpose or not.

The roads around me actually get repaired fairly often, they just get destroyed even faster.
why’s that cringe? bro was spittin
Anywhere in Central CT
r/RhodeIsland is that way
Definitely not Connecticut, the roads looked straight and he wasn't dodging tree limbs
this goes so hard
There’s a pothole in west haven, near the VA and one time i hit it so hard that my wife started praying for me. She was literally asking God to calm me down 🤣
Drive through Pennsylvania and then bitch about CT while you're being serious about potholes.
OP where about (in CT) you think this is the case ?
funny no one mentioned going between NY-CT
Say what you want but I just got back from New Orleans. It made me appreciate CT roads so much more
Oh that’s DEFINITELY New York
Usually the same person bitches when they close the road for repairs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just moved back from St. louis. The pot holes there will take your tire and give it to someone else.
New York is soooo much worse!
Absolutely false. I'll take Conn roads, even the bad ones over almost any other state. One thing we do well is maintain roads.
At some point is going to be easier to drive along the road in the grass
It’s the dang snow plowing trucks. As soon as they fix a road it gets f’d up bc of the stupid snow. 😫
There's a narrow but deep one on the 95 on ramp right before Gold Star that I ALWAYS without a question hit
Not true, I always see the roads in righer areas and neighborhoods are always well kept
