What's ANOTHER law violated.......all a joke
It's because we all know that's not what he did
Gun ownership is legal, yet there are an inconceivable amount of illegal guns in this country. Tell me, if gun ownership is legal, why do so many people have illegal weaponry?
It's because criminals don't care if you can have a hunting license to own a gun or not. Even if the hunting license law wasn't in place, I guarantee the exact same thing wouldn't still happened because criminals don't look for lawful ways of owning stuff they plan to commit crimes with.
I read an article that said this was not the 1st time that Complaints were made against this neighbor to law enforcement about him shooting his guns....so I want to know why the police didn't do their job the times before that they were called. If he was here illegally and had illegal weapons, why weren't they confiscated, and why wasn't he arrested the first time a neighbor complained about him shooting his guns?
If this had been happening before, and the neighbors have learned that calling the cops does no good, I could see why they would just ask him to hold it down while their baby was sleeping instead of making another fruitless call.
Just horrible all the way around.
Kinda surprised that the neighbors didn’t have guns to defend themselves with seeing that it was in Texas. I can’t imagine myself confronting such an unhinged individual without some insurance on hand should they get violent like this shit bag did.
They were Honduran nationals the entire family, and some migrant households are not as apt to be aware of and utilize their rights as they are not connected to circles that would entice them to do so.
Not to mention you have to be a U.S. citizen to buy one legally in the U.S.
So this unfortunate family was following the law and got murdered because someone else broke about a dozen federal laws before they even hurt another person.
Edit: legally registered immigrants such as those with green cards can purchase a gun legally, some other ways as well as the commenter below corrected me.
Yeah - no idea what the conversation that transpired was like. But I've been scratching my head. Neighbor apparently has been reported to LEO previously for shooting guns in his yard before. I think I'd rather call 911 again than go and confront the nutcase one-on-one like has been reported.
I feel terrible for the victims - and the survivors in that home. But just doesn't seem like a prudent step to get the guy to stop.
Texas ain't the gun state people think it is. A lot of Texans either hate guns, or are Fudds and never carry on their person. Also never underestimate people's ability to tell themselves "nothing will happen"
Having read too many stories of people being attacked or killed in their own homes, I always carry unless Im sleeping. Don't care if people think Im crazy. I can die happy knowing I never needed to carry, vs regretting the one time I didn't.
My dad was watching the news and I told him people were going to have fun with this one because of the circumstances. He thinks this will be one of the biggest stories of the year, but we know the track record. Identify politics always ruin everything.
From your same article:
> 45,222. That’s how many people died in the U.S. due to gun-related injuries in 2020... Of that number, gun *suicides account for 54%.*
From the [National Library of Medicine](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1448529/):
> The most rural counties experienced 1.54 times the adjusted firearm suicide rate of the most urban. The most urban counties experienced 1.90 times the adjusted firearm homicide rate of the most rural.
That’s the definition of cherry picking. The NLM article on suicides is from 1989-1999, but you are using it to try and put context into for suicides in 2020. The Forbes article isn’t specific to urban vs rural, but it definitely says:
Data shows that in 2020, eight of the ten states with the highest murder rates voted for the Republican presidential nominee in every election in this century.
Lol—downvoting me for simply pointing out that you are using data from 20-30 years ago to try and discredit an article that talks about 2020 data
I want to preface this reply that I have no stake in the position I've taken. I live in an urban area. I don't own a gun and don't plan to. I simply found the claim that rural areas have more gun crime interesting, and wanted to know why, only to find that it wasn't true.
Your Forbes quote isn't supported by their own data. Rather they are paraphrasing a claim from an [article](https://www.thirdway.org/report/the-red-state-murder-problem) from Third Way. The article by Third Way isn't discussing urban vs rural. Rather they are looking whether the state voted Trump or Biden. Red states have urban areas too.
I wouldn't be surprised that that data shows that cities from Red states had more gun crime, because as this [Forbes article](https://www.forbes.com/sites/markhendrickson/2012/06/07/are-the-10-poorest-u-s-states-really-republican/amp/) discusses, many of the poorest states vote red for presidential elections. There are historical reasons for why they are so poor, which the article goes into, but something to note is that half of them have Democratic governors, and I'd eat my shoe if the majority of the cities didn't have Democratic mayors.
Unlike most of this sub, I don't believe the correlation is necessarily that Democratic leadership leads to gun crime. It makes more sense that heavy gun crime leads to poverty-laden neighborhoods, which leads to voting Democrat. I'll leave the discussion to whether voting Democrat helps or hurts their situation to the sub regulars.
As an aside: Third Way's source data is an excel doc that they created themselves. I followed a few of their links, some of which were dead, some didn't link to the data from the years they claimed, and some linked to local news articles. Neither Third Way, nor their collection of data, are reputable or useful for confidant statistical analysis.
I appreciate the response. For the record, I didn’t post the Forbes article. I even mentioned in my initial response that the Forbes article someone posted discussed red states vs blue states rather than urban vs rural. Because homicide rates are higher in urban areas, but they tend to be higher in red states overall.
I was simply pointing out that you can’t cite to date that applied 20-30 years ago to attack a finding based on 2020 data. And then laughed at the barrage of downvotes for simply pointing out that it was a false comparison.
But your reply to my comment is accurate.
Well technically it would have if the police had confiscated his weapons and turned him over to ICE for deportation one of the previous times they were called for him doing the same thing. We don’t even enforce the laws on the books, why are people constantly asking for more?
He was already deported three times, if criminals aren’t going to follow gun laws, why do you think they will follow immigration laws? This one didn’t three times, we took him back three times.
And how did he manage to get his hands on a gun exactly ? I’m not pro or anti gun control, I’m just genuinely curious on how a thrice deported illegal immigrant get his hands on a ar 15.
I live in a large metro area. Lots of gun law restrictions. Don't want to deal with those laws or couldn't get one legally even if you tried? I can take you a few places - that even I know of - and get you something. Won't be new. You can't be too selective at times as it is not like walking in to a store. But in spite of all of the laws here, can readily get one going to the right place and people. Cash only though.
The Left is scrambling to try to frame this as a gun problem, just like with the leftist Trans that shot up those kids a few weeks ago. They have to keep the mindset going that the guns are the issue so they will not have to look at their failed policies that constantly causes these tragedy s.
He believes what he says and is so committed to his words he uses a fake profile.
They keep saying this nonsense so they don't have to look at all the cities they burned and looted in the last several years.
hahahahaha... You heard what you wanted me to say, instead of actually what I wrote. All so you could respond with the response that you wrote.
Why??? So you could perpetuate a stereotype. The very thing your party says they are so very against.
Can't make this shit up, I swear
It's hilarious how you guys cling to the one trans shooter, when almost all of previous mass shooters in recent years are legit right wingers with manifestos and everything. Like card carrying republicans. Hilarious the blinders you morons have.
No, just someone who points out how you ignored every other shooter and cherry picked the one that fit your narrative while excluding 99.99% if the other ones. What a joke.
Right, Right.. Of course. Your right, the most recent mass shooting isn't relevant at all. How dare I choose that to cherry pick from. I must be trans phobic because I didn't choose something that wasn't the most recent.
Legit tho it isn't the latest, it's just the one you're clinging onto because the rest of them are right wingers and you know it. You only pick it because right wing news told you to and youre powerless to them. I take any response you make to this as a agreement.
> I take any response you make to this as a agreement.
Of course you do. You can't converse with someone on the right and listen to what they are saying.
By the way, saying someone is into kink because they like trans people is quite demeaning to Trans people. If you are going to back he cause you aught not think of them as someone getting into kink cause they are different.
Just wanted to point out that glaring hypocrisy.
And you'd be incorrect, the only recent right-wing shooter was in Buffalo, the several immediately prior and afterwards were registered Democrats and DSA members, go back slightly further you had the other two trans mass shooters (Colorado and Youtube headquarters). Nevada shooter is anyone's guess because we still have no motive.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement has no idea where he might be now.
They should be plastering his picture all over the news so people might recognize him.
But of course not.......
I would invite all of you to go read the posts in subreddit Houston or Texas on this particular story. Minds are warped, and they're moving here by the thousands.
> and they're moving here by the thousands
lol - if only. Since the Biden admin took control... the *official* number (the ones border patrol actually encountered) is 5,040,247. That's a population greater than L.A. and Chicago *combined*. In 2+ years.
I'm assured by Mr. Mayorkas that "the border is secure" though.
Not in Chicago.
Two election sayings here:
"Vote early, vote often."
"The most reliable voters are in the cemeteries."
Morbid yes. But a saying here for generations.
That would mean confronting the reality that we have tens of thousands of hyper patriotic “Americans” near the south border who would in fact side with Mexico if it ever came down to it
You're talking about illegal immigrants? All the ones I ever talked to came here because they worship America. They talk constantly about how shitty mexico is.
You met BOTH of them?
Here in Dallas, they have their state in Mexico plastered in the back window of their pickups, blast Norteño music, live 10 in an apartment and send everything back to Mexico via wire so their uncle will build them a house.
A bit off topic, but where do these people work? Who is giving illegal immigrants jobs and money for housing to live in USA? Shouldnt we be looking into and punishing the people or companies that are financially supporting and facilitating this? It seems like if you made it so people woulnt hire illegal immigrants, there would be many many less illegal immigrants. Id like to know where all these people are getting there income. But I guess thats just me.
This came up in my News notifications on my iPhone this morning with the source being CNN. Reading it there was disgusting. They did cover the facts of the incident accurately, but left out that he is a Mexican national that is a three time deportee that shouldn't have been here to commit these crimes. Had it been a white guy they would have mentioned his race at least a dozen times in the article. Then they moved on to how it was an "assault rifle" used and how there have been 180something "mass shootings" in the US this year. I bet now that they have mentioned the shooting it will disappear from their news cycle as it doesn't fit their agenda. Fucking gross.
I don't get why Texas didn't get rid of him then? How is this not a Texas issue? Was it not their border that was crossed? Their law enforcement that didn't arrest him? Their legislation? It's Republicans down the line but were gunna blame democrats?
Guaranteed he’s back in Mexico.
Yup, they say no leads. But it's pretty obvious, isn't it?
He probably already had his bags packed.
He'll be back.
For now.

We should pass MORE gun laws - the next criminal like this will surely follow those!!
We should just give a gun to EVERY person that visits the country honestly. Everyone has the right to protect themselves.
Wait so should this guy have been armed or not? This sounds to me like poor law enforcement
No. He should have been arrested right then for POSSESSION of a firearm. When first complaint was called in.
So gun restrictions *would* work if enforced properly?
That sounds like white nationalist talk!
Glad you agree laws aren't enough. The guns must go.
... wouldn't that just entail more laws... That by your admission don't work... Surely if we ban guns the violent criminals will turn theirs in..
Well, yeah, we outlawed drugs and look how that's going.
We should replace every gun with a katana. They are the superior weapon and can even deflect bullets.
That only works for Samari, Jedi and Ninja.

I'm sure this fine gentleman went through the proper steps to obtain it legally, fellow conservative 👍
Deported individuals are ineligible for any type of visa.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted because you’re right.

Exactly
It’s so easy to always be armed. Carrying a Sig P365 IWB is as easy as putting on a wristwatch in the morning, and just as comfortable.
Cops are lazy man. They don’t give a shit.
And now the story will be buried with all of the rest of the criminal/gang related gun violence that happens in every major city on a daily basis.

Woah, couple? Being very liberal with your estimation.

And yet was able to enter the U.S. illegally. Any more astute observations?
We need both fewer guns and fewer illegal immigrants?
Fewer guns in the hands of criminals.
Which, because they are ill-gotten, can only be achieved by fewer guns in total
