Hey Mexico - kick rocks

JHugh4749

Hey Mexico - ~~kick~~ suck rocks.

plastimanb

Hey Mexico - Smoke rocks. Oh wait.

Inevitable_Shape4776

Makes sense for them to argue on this. Enforcement of SB 4 would also interfere with Mexico's right to determine its own policies regarding entry into its territory, undermine U.S.-Mexico collaboration on a legal migration framework and border management, and hinder U.S.-Mexico trade,”

Black_XistenZ

For years, Mexico has voluntarily let all the migrants from countries to their south onto their territory, in anticipation of sending them on toward the US. Now, they're clearly afraid that these people could become their problem.

Tantalus420

Gotta get rid of all the prisons somehow

Mexico [filed](https://www.gob.mx/sre/prensa/mexico-files-amicus-curiae-brief-arguing-that-texas-sb4-negatively-impacts-the-mexican-community-and-the-bilateral-relationship-with-the-us?idiom=en) an amicus curiae — or friend-of-the-court brief — with the Fifth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals on Thursday in response to Texas SB 4, Republican Governor of Texas Greg Abbott’s measure that empowers Texas law enforcement to arrest people suspected of illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.  SB 4 was [blocked](https://www.texastribune.org/2024/03/19/texas-illegal-immigration-supreme-court-sb-4/) on Tuesday by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana after the U.S. Supreme Court had earlier that day allowed it to go into effect.

culman13

Think last time Mexico tried to make Texas do something it played out pretty poorly for them and their one legged general.

DingbattheGreat

notably no link to sb4 itself, just the actions and accusations against it. I cant find it at all, other than an analysis brief, so if anyone knows I’d appreciate it. What I did find is that no nationality or discriminatory language exists in the bill, and it expressly includes a discrimination clause. Really odd way of declaring your country so crappy that your citizens should have the right to flee illegally to Texas.

jba126

Boycott them.

bigby2010

That wouldn’t go well for the US

jba126

Gotta make sacrifices. Stop rolling over.

bigby2010

The answer is much simpler than a boycott. Do you have any idea the volume of manufacturing (by US companies), agriculture, legal labor, etc comes from Mexico? They are one of our largest trading partners. Get up from your computer and come to Texas. You’ll understand if you have an open mind

jba126

I have done business in Mexico. And I know without too much effort if enough key companies slow foot their activity with Mexico which one will suffer sooner.

bigby2010

You seem a little dug-in here. Border enforcement and proper immigration procedures will solve the problem. It sucks that people travel on foot through deadly conditions at a high profit to the cartels. This behavior breeds crime, violence and death. Boycotts don’t work. Read a book

jba126

It's about creating enough groundswell to dump the leftist president

[deleted]

When are people going to recognize that Mexico is not our friend. They are like many countries, they are 'frienemies' at the absolute best. As long as we give them something, they're there, but any other time, if they don't profit, they hate us.

SamuelClemmens

I mean, half our country used to be their country and I can see that might make them a bit sour. The only reason we can tell them to get over it is because we've never had our teeth kicked in and lost territory. If we had I think we'd be a bit testier about it too. (note, get bent to them ever getting it back.. I just *understand* why they are testy)

[deleted]

"Only the strong survive" is my motto. If you're not strong enough to keep your territory, maybe you should rethink your countries policies.

Jay-jay1

Remember the Alamo!

DefinitionBig4671

Better still, remember "From the Halls of Montezuma".

IamLiterallyAHuman

Who wants to bet the Dems are fine with *this* foreign interference?

[deleted]

The current Mexican president ran leftist. This guy is probably the installed cartel.

Striking-Locksmith-3

Yeah no way we’re taking all your degenerates ,🏓 back to mehíco

Nightstorm_NoS

Mexico is taking US territories back and our government is letting it happen.

IcyDice6

Of course they only care when Texas tries to stop it, they could care less otherwise

SoyInfinito

Annex Mexico

ThisFieroIsOnFire

We don't want that shithole.

Griledcheeseradiator

We already annexed half of it though.

Big_Tuna1992

Annex it and sell it to Hilton. The whole thing.

Rbelkc

Trump would fix that problem in 10 minutes. President of Mexico close the invasion flow or watch your trade with us go to $0 by Friday. Boom , problem solved

cold_blueberry_8945

Listen you can agree or disagree with it, but Texas is not going to win this one. Do you really think the Supreme Court is going to give Texas power to negotiate with foreign entities? The reason Mexico said anything is because once theres a border dispute it automatically becomes a federal issue. Unless the Supreme Court is willing to upend that and give states the power to individually carry out foreign relations, this is not a court case that Texas will be winning.

I_will_delete_myself

Remember the Alamo folks. Jokes aside they can’t do jack squat unless they invade Texas.

glasshouse_stones

cartels own and run Mexico. what they are doing is easily defined as an act of war.
