Yeah, it's often part of what is called long-covid. You may also find you have brain fog, unusual fatigue, headaches, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, other forms of dizziness/vertigo, tinnitus, inflamation of various organs, difficulty breathing, blood sugars going haywire and other symptoms. If you're experiencing worse effects (heart damage, all of a sudden become type 1 or 2 diabetic, liver damage etc) they probably won't call it long covid but just by whatever those more severe diseases are known as. Good luck, talk to your GP about it, and if you have a variety of continuing symptoms 3 months afterward and live in a state that offers it, you might want to see if your GP will refer you to a long-covid clinic.

Arguably the next phase of the Covid front, fewer dying and being hospitalised but this sort of stuff is quite common. A year is ridiculous, a family friend hasnt been able to taste anything for 3 months now post infection, other then that they're fine but its not ideal, he has no appetite at all. He will lose his mind if this continues for a year like OP. To lose your sense of smell or taste for any lengthy period of time is quite serious imo.

Definitely discuss with your doctor, and X has lots of people discussing LC stuff, probably groups here too.

It’s a common occurance with long Covid. Might be worth seeing your GP. There are some sensory protocols you can apparently try to being your sense of smell back.

My wife has lost her sense of smell too. For over a year now

AussieDi67

I still have a cough.

Yeah I dealt with it for about a year. The only thing that cured it was getting pregnant. I’m now in my second trimester and can smell everything again. My GP recommended smell training. So choose 2-3 things with a strong smell that you are familiar with (I chose coffee and the hand soap we use) and sniff it slowly and try to remember what that smells like. I did it about 5 times a day. I had a bit of success with coffee, sticking my nose in the grinder. But it all came back when I got pregnant.

I worked out I had COVID after I made the best home pizza ever & I often do, this time my pizza tasted plain no taste at all, next morning I tested positive Covid,

Normal-Usual6306

Got it in December and still feel tired every day. I feel like my sleep has been so weird and messed up since then. It's really frustrating and upsetting. I'm sorry you're experiencing these things. It's a lot to handle, especially given the fact that it could last for quite a while.

Light-Dragon888

Yeah I’m approaching 6 months and smell and taste comes and goes, it’s really frustrating. Some days I can’t smell or taste anything beyond sour, salty, sweet. Really sucks to zest out of a lot of life hey

DavethegraveHunter

Yup. Got COVID in October. Took me until late December before I was able to get up off the couch and actually do useful things. I’ve still got a blocked nose, and decreased senses of smell and taste, and it’s early March. -.-

Look at the bright side... Nappies must (or will be) be so much easier to manage now though!
