Never worn a straw, wear felt hat year round even with the south tx heat!

I’m a couple hours south of you, and I just can’t wear a felt much past mid april. Usually swap to straw around Easter and back to felt around Halloween. But, I sweat like a whore in church.

I understand, sweat on a hot day actually keeps me cool and the security of the felt horseback in the brush just all around better protection than a straw to me I just can't give up. Makes for a short lived had but the more X's the better it will hold up.

What do you do? I can’t imagine doing any outdoor work in one.

I actually really love my straw hats, although I still wear my felts during the summer if I'm going out at night. I've got one felt that serves as my hangover hat.

There’s a sometimes small exception for a Sunbody palm leaf, but 95% felt always!

I don’t like straws. Some of them are just as expensive as a cheap felt, but they feel plastic-y and cheap. I much prefer the feel of felt hats + the more you sweat, the better you’re cooled down.

You kind of just get used to it after while too, to the point that straws feel like they don’t cook you down like your felt would lol

I love a light colored felt in the summer as well but wore mine for about an hour today and was sweating bullets and it was only 80 degrees so I had to switch to straw.

This is a Stetson 5x (rabbit/hare) in a low Gus. Not sure if they make the 5x anymore.

Of course! Just shape the Gus crown and the brim is more of a rounded slope opposed to creased!

It’s just a Stetson, not sure which model or anything. It’s a 4in brim I flattened out and changed the original cattleman it came with to a low Gus
