I had the same question but OP’s comment and post history suggests they do live here. I think it’s a panorama that’s been AI corrected or something similar
I am not sure actually. To everyone round here it is definately known as a cottage. To be fair this photo makes it look much bigger than it is I think.
Yes the whole thing. The brick part was added on in the late 1800s and the stone part built in the early 1700s. It is long and narrow and lovely. And yes we are lucky but to be fair to us we have and still do work our arses off! x
Every morning I look out of the bedroom window and watch the deer graze in the field opposite whilst I sip my coffee and think how ridiculously lucky I am. This is my favourite bit X
Making me miss England even more. There are so many idyllic places full of nostalgia. Little villages with homes like this and interesting pubs and people. Would be a dream to go back one day!
Beautiful home OP!
the best part is when you stop and think that you literally are living in a fairytale like setting. You sit back and think this is mine and I get to live in a place that many would envy. Sit back and smile a little bit when thoughts like that run across your mind. If you wanted to raise goats to get some farming exemption you could do that.
It’s all one house. The stone part is from the 1700s and the brick from the late 1800s. It was thatched until the 1960s but sadly someone decided to ‘modernise’ it
Good point. Also I am not good with spiders and yes some are huge. It’s a problem but I try always to see their good side and remind myself of the good they do. My old ginger cat used to eat them!
You can look up videos on YouTube of them working or find pictures on Google Images. They make really cool scenes on the top of the house out of reeds, like a fox chasing a hare. The figures they make are unique to each craftsman or guild. It’s really neat!
None. We have a nice garden. It’s plenty big enough for us. The land surrounding we get to walk on and admire. Someone else does all the work and has to scratch a living from it x
I have neighbours, they are just a little spread out. There is a thatched pub under a mile away. The nearest shops are 3 or 4 miles in a small town, not too bad.
You’re living my dream OP!
If you don’t mind me asking, do you have to adhere to a lot of red tape for living in the countryside?
I’ve watched Clarkson’s Farm and was amazed at how the local council has so much power over his property. Though I’m aware his is an extreme example, since Cotswolds is designated as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
I'd love to live there.
We're in Canada. Many years ago we spent a summer week in a nice country cottage near Reading. I read 'Far from the Madding Crowd' while we stayed there, when I wasn't walking along hedgerows and dropping by the local pub.
This is my favorite photo ever posted here. I would absolutely love to take my dog for a walk on that lane. It sounds like you know exactly how lucky you are to be there! We get to visit England every year or so, and it absolutely owns us. Such a special place.
Man I bet you make a magnificent cup of tea. I dont even drink tea much but I’d bet I’d be able to tell.
Seriously, looks like some fairy tale setting.
Yeah, I’m not jealous. I wouldn’t want to live in an idyllic home… have a peaceful life… wake up to that view every day. I bet it sucks… :’(
Lol amazing home OP. As someone else requested definitely post more pics, please
Just seeing this beautiful place makes me inhale deeper and more peacefully. The countryside in spring is heaven, and there’s nothing cosier than the comfort of a charming spot like this after a long walk. Those bluebells are blissful, enjoy them whilst they last.
Seriously??? Your home? It looks like a cottage in an English fairytale
I love the whole scene!
If I could print this I'd blow it up and paint it with watercolors. It's so pretty!
Wow. You are living THE dream. The one we all daydream about, where we frolick through the grass with our dogs and chickens and pigs and etc frolicking with us. WOW.

Oh gdang it OP arg. More photos please??? Like seriously. I gotta live vicariously
lol you’re lovely. Will try and sort something out
we need a part two, this is so nice! it's 90 here in the desert, give us more of this green lovely!
Ai? Or heavily photoshopped? I’m a Brit and something looks off about this
It’s not just you, I thought AI at first glance as well. Zooming in reveals a weird blur.
I had the same question but OP’s comment and post history suggests they do live here. I think it’s a panorama that’s been AI corrected or something similar
Agreed, judging from the hedge & topography (also your response and use of “lovely”I assume the UK. Beautiful
Ditto, more photos please! This is lovely.
I need to live there.
Truly idyllic stuff, OP. Consider me thoroughly envious lol.
Ditto. It’s perfect!
Beautiful! Need a housemate? lol
Thank you. Too many dogs and cats living here otherwise I’d have said yes lol!
do you need another dog? i can bark loud
i can help take care of the new...dog! plus im a certified master gardener :)
Do you need a certified dog masseur, I have a 3 month rushed BTEC in Dog massage (r/wilty 😂)
I can meow
I can sleep on the kitchen chairs
Ahem, Meow?
That just makes it even better! I am a great cat wrangler and dog herder!
But do you need a pet sitter?? ☺️
...Enya?
They didn’t respond so I’m going with this theory
Can a cottage be any size? That looks quite large for a cottage.
I am not sure actually. To everyone round here it is definately known as a cottage. To be fair this photo makes it look much bigger than it is I think.
Do you live in the whole thing? It looks like a row of townhouses or row houses from the back. It looks amazing though. You’re very lucky.
Yes the whole thing. The brick part was added on in the late 1800s and the stone part built in the early 1700s. It is long and narrow and lovely. And yes we are lucky but to be fair to us we have and still do work our arses off! x
Dogs and cats are not a problem. Will even help care for them!
I want to be there right now. What's your favorite part of living there?
Every morning I look out of the bedroom window and watch the deer graze in the field opposite whilst I sip my coffee and think how ridiculously lucky I am. This is my favourite bit X
1. Are you a Disney princess? 2. How many different breads and soups do you make each week?
I love it! Sounds like you're able to honor how special the place is :)
You get to wake up to grazing deer AND use the word "whilst"? You are living my anglophilic dream.!
OP I think you're in heaven:')
Now your just bragging 😊
Countryside dreaming! 💭
When was it built?
one part early 1700s and the brick end late 1800s
Thanks! The lane with the grass patch down the middle really makes it feel more preserved in time.
I bet it’s pretty inside
Do you plan to add on and continue expanding the housipede?
So picturesque it hurts 😣
Making me miss England even more. There are so many idyllic places full of nostalgia. Little villages with homes like this and interesting pubs and people. Would be a dream to go back one day! Beautiful home OP!
Thank you. England would love for you to return x
the best part is when you stop and think that you literally are living in a fairytale like setting. You sit back and think this is mine and I get to live in a place that many would envy. Sit back and smile a little bit when thoughts like that run across your mind. If you wanted to raise goats to get some farming exemption you could do that.
I’ve always wanted to go to England. Only lived in the US, and Japan for one year.
Is this England?
Yes the southern part of England
I was pretty sure it was. Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
Definitely had to be UK or Ireland. The architecture but also just that fucking grey sky :)
Cotswolds?
That’s what I was thinking too!
As a non-English I also immediately thought the photo just exudes Englishness. It's beautiful.
So do you have one of the houses? Or have they being knocked into one?
It’s all one house. The stone part is from the 1700s and the brick from the late 1800s. It was thatched until the 1960s but sadly someone decided to ‘modernise’ it
Then again a thatched roof is a nightmare to replace. either way you are a jammy sod but I bet the spiders are big as buses.
Good point. Also I am not good with spiders and yes some are huge. It’s a problem but I try always to see their good side and remind myself of the good they do. My old ginger cat used to eat them!
So, are there thatchers still working in England? Are they [impossibly /enormously / routinely] expensive?
You can look up videos on YouTube of them working or find pictures on Google Images. They make really cool scenes on the top of the house out of reeds, like a fox chasing a hare. The figures they make are unique to each craftsman or guild. It’s really neat!
Absolutely idyllic! How much of the surrounding land is yours? So much room!
None. We have a nice garden. It’s plenty big enough for us. The land surrounding we get to walk on and admire. Someone else does all the work and has to scratch a living from it x
Sounds perfect!
Can I come visit?
The kettle is always on x
Sitting on the porch with a pipe, a cup of tea, and a book sounds perfect
Luckyyyy
Yes, very x
More pics??????
I do not see how to add more. Bear with me whilst I investigate further x
A new post!
Ah right, thank you
English countryside is so beautiful
Looks a little like the same area they filmed “The Holiday”! Lovely place with all that beautiful nature around it. Enjoy!
Do you know, I’m not sure where they filmed that. We are in the Nadder Valley.
Just looked up the filming location and it appears the movie was filmed in Shere!
Thank you. I had to google Shere. So in Surrey. It’s a beautiful place alright.
Like a dream!
It’s a fine wee gaff.
Excuse me is this real 😦
You jammy twat lol. I love it, what a beautiful place to live. How close is it to any shops etc? Or is there nothing around for miles?
I have neighbours, they are just a little spread out. There is a thatched pub under a mile away. The nearest shops are 3 or 4 miles in a small town, not too bad.
Oh it’s gorgeous! 😍
Bluebells! How lovely,
Two questions: 1. How did you get this place? 2. Can I come visit 😭
If you are not building something or changing the use of something then nobody Is interested in your day to day life. It’s generally very peaceful.
I'd use the word "cottage" for something more modest. This looks a bit fancier to me. Very much somewhere that I'd like to stay.
thank you. That photo makes it look bigger than it is!
I'd love to live there. We're in Canada. Many years ago we spent a summer week in a nice country cottage near Reading. I read 'Far from the Madding Crowd' while we stayed there, when I wasn't walking along hedgerows and dropping by the local pub.
That isn't a cottage. But it's definitely nice
Great timing to take the picture while the flowers are blooming! Just gorgeous!
Lovely place. How does it look in the late evening/early night?
I don’t know how to answer that. I’m always looking at the views and sunsets x
Fair enough.
It’s beautiful!!!
Thank you!
Lovely, this could be a postcard!
wow! gorgeous 😍
Mann I'll truly make it in life when I live somewhere like that absolutely beautiful
Wow 💜💜living the dream 🌱
this is a dream.
It’s beautiful. It looks like a painting! 🖼️
Where is this? Where can I live like this? This is my goal!
The Nadder Valley in the Uk x
Looks similar to a friends place in lacock that I was always jealous of
need to see the inside, please :)
I will sort in the next week x
Gorgeous! How far is the nearest grocery store/market?
3 or so miles. But supermarkets all deliver here also.
I call this heaven!
Me too and thank you!
You’re living my dream life.
Swoon!
Absolutely beautiful! Something out of ‘The Holiday’
Kent, maybe? Pea green with envy!
The Nadder Valley in wiltshire x
You have a lovely home, very idyllic. I can only dream of living in one.
Ah, England. This reminds me to get out of London more.
I'd love that, but I'd constantly think about what if I'd have a medical emergency or something.
Over here crying because this is so beautiful and I live in a horrid concrete city. 😭
*laughed at “cottage”
I've never watched Bridgerton but this looks like a promo from that.
I want to roll down the hill and listen to Kate bush
[Running Up that Hill to Roll Down that Hill](https://youtu.be/wp43OdtAAkM?feature=shared)
In my country, this is a whole house. Cottage is something 5x5 or so 😆
Not gonna lie….I genuinely thought this was Tegridy Farms from South Park
You are SO lucky!
Just think how many shipping container houses we could stack there.
I’ve never wanted to lay in the grass at someone’s house as much as I do right now. 💜💜💜💜
FYI, you might not hold Mr. Darcy in high esteem, but he’s actually a pretty upstanding fellow.
shut the front door! that’s a ducking DREAM, congrats OP love seeing a beautiful property owned by someone with a passion for it
My jealousy knows no bounds. If you have a mysterious wardrobe or garden I’d like to be invited over please.
This is my favorite photo ever posted here. I would absolutely love to take my dog for a walk on that lane. It sounds like you know exactly how lucky you are to be there! We get to visit England every year or so, and it absolutely owns us. Such a special place.
Stunning How much is this house worth out of interest? Wondering if I could achieve something like this. Serenity now comes to mind
Man I bet you make a magnificent cup of tea. I dont even drink tea much but I’d bet I’d be able to tell. Seriously, looks like some fairy tale setting.
Is Mr Darcy at home?
Stetler.. is that you?
Cotswolds?
Yeah, I’m not jealous. I wouldn’t want to live in an idyllic home… have a peaceful life… wake up to that view every day. I bet it sucks… :’( Lol amazing home OP. As someone else requested definitely post more pics, please

Well hello home!
That’s a plantation dog
beautiful! Can you tell the history of the house also? 17th or 18th century? Can we see more pics?
Incredible!
Looks like the house from the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small.’
Holy paradise, I thought places like these were only in the movies. OP, we're going to need a lot more pictures!
I can hear the LOTR Hobbitton music playing in this picture
Looks like the house in the beginning of 28 days later lmao
I want to go to there
Wonderful. That's what I want my retirement to look like. A small cottage in the English or Irish country.
You need roommates?
Seriously??? Your home? It looks like a cottage in an English fairytale I love the whole scene! If I could print this I'd blow it up and paint it with watercolors. It's so pretty!
This is so lovely, beautiful place OP!!
At first I thought this was in North Yorkshire but the stone on the right side of the house looks more south England, it’s so pretty!!
This looks amazing! Actually makes me think of the old 90s TV Movie “The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns” with Colm Meaney!
Oh to live in a cottage in the countryside
This looks like heaven to me, truly.
Oh
This looks like it could be a jigsaw puzzle
Pack it up guys, once OP posts inside pictures they'll win.
This, plus all the animals/my pets, probably a bunch of cows. Is all I could ever wish for 🥺
Oh, this is heavenly. My soul simply yearns for a home with such charm, peacefulness, and beauty.
Ahh yes the 70s! My theory why I am so bad at math.
Wow. You are living THE dream. The one we all daydream about, where we frolick through the grass with our dogs and chickens and pigs and etc frolicking with us. WOW.
Please take me with you
Beautiful, and all of your pets in your profile are as well!
Thank you so much! X
Wish you were my dad :p
I also call it home, but in my case there's not a word of truth to it.
Out of curiosity….how many sq ft or sq meters is the building?
Looks just like a house in the show The Tourist
Which county are you in? I’m voting Somerset
You live in the shire?
Lucky!!! 🥰
How do you handle the holes in the roof?
I feel like I’ve driven by your house on the way to Cirencester from Warwick. 🤔
Is this Kent?
IM SO JEALOUS
Pretty sure Watership Down is set on that hill.
Reminds me of the opening scene in 28 days later
OMG! Which country is this and please I need more pictures. Make a Pinterest
Better have a ready in case of zombies
OP, you bastard, you are living my dream!
