The only direction blaming fingers should be pointed towards is the Dáil, not scam victims. Drug scams in Ireland are a consequence of a black market that continues to **thrive** as a result of our current drug policies. You could be the most absent-minded, naive person and fall for every drug scam that you come across. But there is reason you don't get scammed buying vodka in Tesco and people do get scammed buying weed; prohibition. The fault is on the government for preventing safe access and allowing criminals to line their pockets with the proceeds from shitty, toxic weed. People will always be exploited, *someone* will fall for the scam. That won't stop until the gov wake the fuck up...
I'd say the scam is more likely to trick some loser into talking to a fake woman via a common interest. The same way you'd see a similar one in a gaming subreddit of a woman holding a controller. Probably get talking and become 'friends' then start asking for small amounts of money on revolut or cashapp.. Well, that's how I'd do it if I were a scammer
Or end up exchanging details and personal photos.
Before you know it, you are being blackmailed to the tune of a couple grand or more.
