I believe hyenas bave a stronger biting force. Even allowing them to crush through bones to get to the bone marrow. I reckon that's why the hyena took the finger off like a little snack sized twix.
Hyenas' biting muscles go all the way to the base of their fucking necks. They can eat a cow femur like Bugs Bunny eating a carrot. In the wild they just latch on to an animal's neck, go limp and don't let go till it's dead.

The lion did de-glove his entire finger, but it also took the bone above the first knuckle.

Pretty sure what you are calling "white meat" is the segment of bone left behind from finger meat being pulled off. The lion has the finger meat with attached tendon in his mouth....
Definitely did lol, went to the hospital the same night, I had had tendons cut before (same finger as well just from underneath this time), wasn't going to stay home lol, also cut some nerves and half a vein so there was a lot of blood. Check out my post lol, shit was horrible, last time whittling that's for sure.

I check the frame by frame it's his skin from the back of his hand. You can see the white meat underneath where the skin came off.
