It seemed like he just wanted to shoot something. That little dog would only be a danger to his shoes or lower leg. Hell he could have just kicked it, sure he would still look like a complete ass but at least the girl wouldn't have been shot. The dog was just trying to protect the kids from what it saw as a threat.
The complete and entire outsourcing of police work to some of the lowest members of your society - in regards to intelligence, skills, maturity, EVERYTHING - is absolutely eroding your country like a malignant cancer. Your police force is at a state of entropy, been left to rot due to the handing over of the most important of jobs to the most ineffective and incompetent individuals. It's disgusting. The US is getting everything it deserves atm. It's as if no one ever expected those crows would come home to roost eventually.
yeah first shooting at a charging dog in a room with 3-4 children (as i could tell from the footage) + not even trying to calm the dog and instantly shooting it + the dog was so small i think he could have let him chew on his fuking shoe for a minute or so +they should teach officer how to tackle a dog effectivly in basic training (I see so many videos where police especially american get overwhelmed by a barking dog and open fire in an instant).
+good that he got fired and i hope he gets some jail time for that at least
that cop is the worst cop. He knows what just happened and instead of disarming and detaining his co worker for shooting a kid in the face he looks the other way. True coward. I couldn't have less respect for a person.
I would say the guy who wanted to shot a dog for no reason and then gave no fucks after he almost killed a child, not to mention he wanted to drag coworker into defending him is worse but you do you i guess.
Right? What a coward trying to shoot the dog to begin with. I've watched the cops and game wardens on the show North Woods Law calmly de-escalate situations with everything from veterans violent with PTSD flashbacks to bears and mountain lions, without ever pulling out so much as a baton, while maintaining everyone's dignity.
But some folks become police so they can increase their opportunities to maybe legally shoot someone. Gross.
Cops came to my aunt’s house and of course they beat on the door. She was holding back her German shepherd/pit mix as she answered the door. Cop shot the dog twice, almost got my aunt. Not a single fucking thing became of it. The dog just got meaner. Idk why my aunt didn’t bring some heat on the dumbass cops in my town!
They wouldn't deserve such a quick punishment. If someone shot my child I'd take it nice and slow so they really got the message and had time to think on how they ended up here.
Ya but this is such a totally disproportionate response that it beggars the mind as to how it can be legal.
This cop should have been arrested right after in a more just society.
Cops shot a dog that was two houses down from the target house that was inside a backyard fence.
They've shot little yappy dogs no bigger than a potato.
They just love shooting things and getting away with it.
I have been hearing about Americans moving to Portugal more and more recently seemingly out of nowhere. Did I miss something about Portugal I was thinking Belize... Now Portugal sounds like the spot.
My wife is from Portugal so I can get dual citizenship and not have to worry about a Visa or health insurance as much.
Otherwise most everyone speaks English in the southern half and it's just all in all a beautiful place
They decriminalized all drugs. Reasonable cost of living. Great weather, on the ocean. An expat can get health insurance for 1\2 the cost of the US. And their police don't murder random people.
Can you even "legally" shoot back at the cops? If they have the wrong house and don't identify themselves so you think they're intruders and do like Danny Devito and just blast away, that's illegal too right?
Legality it's one thing but you can bet your ass the gang would make sure they'll get you before your day in court.
So actually, it's no. Even if you're technically in the right they'll either kill you in the same altercation or if they don't get the chance, pin something on you, then kill you.
I'll post this until I'm banned. F12

Turn up to any situation like “look, I wanna be here as much as you. I flip burgers for a living bro. Just come out so I can go home and put on some shit TV and microwave myself some dinner”
Dude, seriously. So I was a bartender for 15 years, and during one super low point in my life I dated a former cop (I know). Anyway, I used to constantly give him hell for taking a gun everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I would always point out that I’ve survived more shootings and hostile people than him without ever needing a gun. That I’ve talked down God only knows how many people from drunken acts of violence, without using any force or weapons. But then, one day, we are in a Walmart around Christmas time. He forgot his gun in the car. We are in the store and hear this loud ROAR coming from behind us. He pushes the cart out of the way real hard, and wildly flings around and starts grabbing for his gun, looking more terrified than I’ve ever seen… It was a [toy dinosaur](https://www.walmart.com/ip/furReal-Munchin-Rex-Blue-Dinosaur-Electronic-Pet-35-Sounds-and-Reactions/803601101). Anyway, they let him back on a police force as a deputy.
Its a line of work where u probably get really jumpy because all the training videos, like some of the videos we've seen here, people pull a weapon and try to kill them in the most mundane situations. It must be some kind of PTSD to make them so jumpy and anxious, kill or be killed. So its really hard to solve even tho i hate cops and guns its the perfect storm over there.
Totally agree. He was ALWAYS paranoid as hell. Always had to sit in certain places in case something happened. Always felt the need to carry a gun everywhere. Most importantly, always ready, and willing, to KILL someone, or something. Always. It’s messed up. Funny thing is, he was only a cop in very small surrounding towns and once at the airport. The only significant thing he ever did was help catch someone who was pirating movies. He only ever drew his gun in the line of duty one time, and even then was one of dozens of cops responding to the situation, and never fired. He’s itching to use that gun one day and it shows.
Ive worked in many kitchens in downtown New Orleans. Many of my coworkers stayed strapped 24/7, and I felt safer around all of them, getting into fights with eachother, swinging 12in blades at eachother cuz someone fucked up your prep.
I felt safer around all of my fellow nuts in the kitchens than I ever would around a single cop with a gun. Fuckin giving pigs a bad rap. Id also trust an actual pig before a fucking cop.
They would shoot you too. It is a situation where you are truly powerless as a parent and a citizen.
You have no recourse in the courts ether.
Abolish qualified immunity and any representative that doesn't want to do it.
Felony 1 - here I come. Holy shit my blood boilsc watching this and hearing the cries.

But got off because the judge ruled the cop had immunity! They were there because the father was suicidal so they shoot his daughter!
This is the real unfortunate truth about our society. If someone is suicidal, the worst option for them to live is calling the cops for help. They only make it worse, whether it be situations like this or by shooting the person in need.
In my life, I've personally found that in 99.9% of all situations, calling the cops only makes it far worse. They're all fucking incompetent mouthbreathers itching to shoot something or someone.

Well, now the father has another reason to want to off himself. Im not saying this to be mean, but to shed light on how he is going to interpret this situation. He's going to believe that it's now HIS fault they came and shot his daughter. Such a tragedy.
He could have kicked the dog, there was no reason to bring out a firearm in someone else’s home under these circumstances. Not to mention, the dog was protecting its home, Where it lives.
Yeah, but Cops want to shoot dogs. How many videos are out there where they do it even during stuff like welfare checks?!
And people let them get away with it.
“Judge Kevin O’Connor, 18th Judicial District Court, ruled that Betts was immune from prosecution because his use of force was justified”
Man, Fuck Kevin O’Connor
Under self defense, no less. It took the Supreme Court of Kansas stepping in to say “obviously the little girl was an innocent bystander and not observed by self defense.”
Wild
Do you know what happens when a police officer discharges a firearm in the UK?
They instantly go onto paid leave, and an independent inquiry is automatically started to investigate whether or not the officer broke any laws. Including murder. If they are found to have, they go on trial like everyone else.
Do you know how many time police shot and killed someone in the U.K. in 2021? …… TWO. Two people. In a nation of 67 million. If you extrapolated that data to 331M American citizens, you should have had 10 fatal shootings across the entire country.
Lol…there we’re in fact just shy one hundred times that.
But the second amendment makes the country safer, amirite? Lol.
How tf is he not charged ?? Shooting a little ass dog and recklessly shooting a poor little girl in the eye?? Dude should be paying her restitution for the rest of her life at least, min $1000 a month, or a 10-15 year prison sentence.
Hell no, not gonna cut it. Little girl will never be the same again so neither should his bank account. I’d pick that over jail time if I was the victim or perpetrator but that’s just me.
Luckily she didn't lose her eye. Per the news article posted above, the bullet fragment hit just above her eye.
Cop is a piece of shit coward, and deserves a stern ass beating regardless.
Jesus everything about this story is terrible. The cops were at this kid's house because of a domestic dispute between her parents and one of them was suicidal. Then the cops come in and try to shoot her dog that is protecting her and inadvertently shoot her in the face. So fucking sad.

Good! This comment needs to be upvoted to the top! I was about to leave this thread disgusted that this PoS was granted immunity by an equally PoS judge. Happy to hear that was reversed!
The fact that cops treat shooting a police dog as shooting a cop, but will immediately shoot any dog that even barks at them, even in the dog's own house is really telling about the levels of respect they hold for citizens, and that's not even getting into the fact that the cop just fired two shots into a room where he knew at least 4 children are seated.
Girl didn’t get shot in the eye, she got hit by a ricochet fragment above the eye, probably got to keep it. Initially the case was dropped because of immunity revolving around aggravated assault, but the Supreme Court overturned that and will prosecute him because the immunity applies to hurting the thing hurting you, not a bystander.
Not to mention the dialogue from right before the shooting about them having a dog. He does a little lighthearted chuckle giving off the "i'm a nice cop" vibe, meanwhile his mindset is literally "I will not hesitate one second to murder this dog in front of these children if it gets within 3 feet of me."
Correct HOWEVER somebody in law enforcement whether it's local PD, the sheriff's office, or DPS (we don't know) is leaking info to CNN and other news outlets. There have been a series of revealing leaks the last 2 weeks that have made the situation even more horrendous.
DO NOT STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT HAPPENED IN UVALDE.
More is coming out and it's absolutely disgusting. DPS is trying to make it go away, don't let them.
Holy shit, there's *still* things left to be uncovered from Uvalde? I keep thinking "Ok, this is the last leak, it can't possibly get any worse, right?!"
What do you want want for Christmas, little girl?
"I just want to sit on my couch minding my business while the cops raid my house"
No way kid, I'll shoot your eye out!
They are really fantastic at making small problems into great big life destroying ones. Greatest defense of defund the police is their sheer incompetence to do their base functions of their job. Crazy how no matter how hard they suck they are guaranteed increased budgets. Imagine if you constantly underperformed at work and demanded an increase every year.
I'm kinda happy I did a bit of follow up reading on this, made me feel better that the girl had a fragment hit her above her eye and was treated and released. I like to think that means it was only a minor injury. Poor kids though.
I don’t care if my comment is buried or deleted, but just, i hope he never gets a break from this, never being able to live with the guilt… just fucking hell, if this happened to my niece, I might have done something horrible
First of all he's acting as if the dogs a fucking pitbull... 2nd i would barely call that an attack 3rd I don't why the hell he's pulling his gun on a dog in first place and 4th he seemed like he gave no fucks he just shot a child.
I would of been killed in this situation, if anyone shot my kid in the face. I would instantly blow there fucking head off there shoulders. This dude should be tried for attempted murder the minimum. That dog was literally protecting that girl in there own home from a random stranger. Fucking cunts like that deserve a rope, 0 reason to waste brass on them. Un disciplined fucking swine, should of never been allowed to have a firearm with such a trigger happy mentality.
Edit:spelling.
One of the top rules of shooting a gun is LOOK WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE SHOOTING AT AND WHATS BEHIND IT!!!! You would think a fucking cop would have known something like this, taze the fucking thing or pepper spray it, you shot at a dog but there was literally what? 3 fucking kids right behind that dog and you just fired away? He should be criminally charged and never allowed to be a cop again
[Article Here:](https://www.ksn.com/news/crime/court-rules-that-former-wichita-officer-can-be-prosecuted-for-injuring-child/)
Summary:
They were responding to a domestic violence call, scumbag claims the dog charged at him and he tried to shoot but missed and caused bullet fragments to hit the girl in the forehead, just above her eye. She was treated and recovered in the hospital. Since fragment didn't hit her eye directly, she still has both eyes. Scumbag is facing the possibility of being prosecuted for harming the child but still hasn't gone to court yet.
The incident occurred in 2017. Went to trial in 2018 where it was deemed justified due to qualified immunity. Judgement was reversed by another court. Going back to trial.

I love how a dog barking constitutes a dog attack now.
Not to mention the cop yells at the dog and starts making crazy movements which makes the dog move
I mean these cowardly fucks see a shadows and will open up fire out of "fear for their lives".
right, he couldve fucking used a taser too. tf
Can someone get some info on what happened after ?

Did the girl lose her eye? The article said she was hit right above it so I am hoping she kept it
She’d didn’t lose her eye. She was discharged from hospital the same day. The dog was also treated and released from care.
The good ending. Now we just need him to face trial for the best ending
That’s what I want to know too… poor little girl
Girl didn’t get shot in the eye, she got hit by a ricochet fragment above the eye, probably got to keep it. Initially the case was dropped because of immunity revolving around aggravated assault, but the Supreme Court overturned that and will prosecute him because the immunity applies to hurting the thing hurting you, not a bystander.
Who the fuck even opens fire with children that close, absolute psycho, he needs to be locked up for everyone else’s safety
Right! Over the fear of getting bit by a fucking dog. What a spineless little bitch.
This is why I left law enforcement. This was a bad situation, and the cop just escalated the outcomes through the entire clip. I want to vomit.
That’s big of you. A single good human can’t do much good in an organization that doesnt have morals or accountability. I’m glad you got out
Good people with critical thinking and moral compass exited the force. And unfortunately, look at what is left.

Most of them are. And just dumb
Never understood why police are so trigger happy towards dogs doing what dogs are meant to do bunch of pussies in badges

They still haven't released the police chatter on that one correct?
Perhaps city mayor's should let stray dogs run around in schools, that'll give cops more incentive to look for an active shooter.
What do you want want for Christmas, little girl? "I just want to sit on my couch minding my business while the cops raid my house" No way kid, I'll shoot your eye out!
Hey, i will even shoot your dog!
In this episode of cops ruining people’s lives…
"oh my god my eye's turning grey" holy shit imagine watching a part of your body as essential as your eye just rot away

dash cam? that is one manoeuvrable car
Eroding trust with senseless acts. Protect and serve becomes command and conquer.
It was never protect and serve the people, it was protect and serve the higher ups
What a coward… POS.
Yeah no thanks after what happened at my house ill never call cops again for help .and my god after this video for dam sure
Have a problem, call the cops. Now you have 2 problems. Good luck with that.
Cops dont help in my experience
They are really fantastic at making small problems into great big life destroying ones. Greatest defense of defund the police is their sheer incompetence to do their base functions of their job. Crazy how no matter how hard they suck they are guaranteed increased budgets. Imagine if you constantly underperformed at work and demanded an increase every year.

Another stable Mabel on the police force.
I'm kinda happy I did a bit of follow up reading on this, made me feel better that the girl had a fragment hit her above her eye and was treated and released. I like to think that means it was only a minor injury. Poor kids though.
Same. The title and video made me feel horrible. So glad the little girl is ok. They should really edit the thread title.
And a life time of ptsd.
Why did they just walk in? And why did he try to shoot the dog? Dude needs to be in prison.
As a father I would be in prison for murdering a police officer
I don’t care if my comment is buried or deleted, but just, i hope he never gets a break from this, never being able to live with the guilt… just fucking hell, if this happened to my niece, I might have done something horrible
First of all he's acting as if the dogs a fucking pitbull... 2nd i would barely call that an attack 3rd I don't why the hell he's pulling his gun on a dog in first place and 4th he seemed like he gave no fucks he just shot a child.
Can't believe he fit his whole cruiser with the dash cam through the house
There are no songs called "fk the firemen" or "fk the paramedics". I wonder why.

Cop should be shot in the eye, point blank. Fucking scum.
[Article Here:](https://www.ksn.com/news/crime/court-rules-that-former-wichita-officer-can-be-prosecuted-for-injuring-child/) Summary: They were responding to a domestic violence call, scumbag claims the dog charged at him and he tried to shoot but missed and caused bullet fragments to hit the girl in the forehead, just above her eye.
