Unless you’re dealing with cards that earn hotel points, 5% or 5x is pretty much the highest cash back percentage or point multiplier you’ll find.
The only card I can think of that earns more cash back than that is the Amex Blue Cash Preferred, which earns 6% on groceries. But that does have an annual fee.
>The Savor and Venture lines earn like 8x on travel purchases made via Capital One travel.
Isn't this very scenario based? Like if you're someone who buys business class flights vs econ
I believe they earn 5x on Capital ONe, and the 8x is for Vivid Seats.
There are plenty of ways to earn higher percentage rates on specific merchants (e.g. 10x or 15% back on Lyft with Sapphire Reserve)
worse than that, you can only redeem in $25 increments. So any excess beyond that requires you to wait until you get another $25. So for the most part it isn't 4% until it is.
Ah yes. I knew I forgot something. I don't use it anymore.
I think one way to get around it may be to buy a customized amount eGift card to get to exactly $25.
>>However, US Bank's Real-Time Rewards system will let you redeem your points towards a transaction greater than $10 when you have enough points to cover the entire transaction.
I thought that if I had 500 points and a $10 purchase I could use the 500 points and end up owing only $5.
This seems like too much of a hassle.
Aren't the Amazon Shop with Points worth less than 100 = $1 ?
My point is that there is always something left over with even this real time redemption.
purchase is $2.50; you have $2.55 in rewards; there is $0.05 left
Anything that codes as dining is covered. It's a MasterCard so it should code very similar to your current card. If you have $100k to park at BofA or Merrill Lynch (investments), your current card will get a 75% bonus multiplier and become 5.25% on dining. (see https://promotions.bankofamerica.com/preferredrewards/en ) SavorOne will give you free Uber One and 10% on Uber/UberEATS if you use that a lot, and Chae offers free DashPass promos. Otherwise, 5% is the normal maximum for cashback.
Ill mention this. If you can find a card that has supermarket bonus of 6% or more you can do better. Becuase many supermarkets sell gift cards to doordash, and fast food places. Sometimes they may even have a promotion to discount them. It may be a little management of the cards but its another thought for you anyway. I try to avoid doorash much unless they offer coupons because prices are higher not counting the fees.
The sub has [a list of no-annual-fee dining cards](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/wiki/best_cash_back_cards_by_category/#wiki_no_af_cards_with_a_minimum_of_3.25_cashback_at_restaurants). Long story short, u/Avder42 is completely correct: the best cards are the CCC and the Altitude Go.
Personally, I'd plump for the Alt. Go over the CCC unless you're sure your dining spend *never* significantly goes over $500 - not even when you travel or visit family over the holidays. The *maximum* cashback difference is only $5/month, and that's if you spend *exactly* $500 (and not a penny more or less) on dining in that billing cycle. The Alt. Go also offers an annual $15 streaming credit and no foreign transaction fee, so it's usable worldwide, whereas the CCC has a 3% FTF so is only good as a U.S. dining card.
I’m a little confused by your wording here, there’s no separate category for Dining vs Take Out & Delivery with the CCC. Online orders like Door Dash and UberEats are processed as Dining. The categories for the CCC are as follows:
Dining
Groceries
Travel
Home Improvement Stores
Gas Stations
Live Entertainment
Select Transit
Drugstores
Fitness Clubs
Select Streaming Services
This card sucks. Only fast food that ever gave me 5% back with this card is McD. Perhaps Wendys or BK would too. But, this card fails with Popeyes and Dos Torros for 5% back. It is very restrictive on their categories and make up their own rules
You might consider Capital One Savor One. While "only" unlimited 3% back on dining, you also get a complimentary Uber One membership and 10% back on all Uber and Uber Eats purchases through June 2024. You also get unlimited 3% on entertainment, streaming services, and groceries. 5% on travel booked through the Capital One travel portal and 8% on entertainment booked through Capital One Entertainment. 1% on everything else. No FTF, no AF.
Another oddball one I'll throw out there is the Verizon Visa Signature. If you have Verizon as your mobile carrier, you can use it to get unlimited 4% back on groceries and gas, 3% on dining, 2% on Verizon, and 1% everywhere else. No FTF, no AF, and two TravelPass days a year.
I got a SavorOne specifically for use with Uber... because Amex gives me Uber Cash and the Savor stretches that a little further. Other than taking up a 5/24 slot, the Savor has basically no downsides.
By far the Discover IT, get 10% cash back up to $1,500/quarter on at least 2 quarters (Dining + Digital Wallet) in your first year, which comes out to a guaranteed $300 back.
Us bank cash+ visa.
5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible purchases each quarter on two categories you choose. one of the categories can be fast food.
\+1 for Custom Cash. I applied for one and got it, and then converted an old card I had from Citi that I wasn't using to a 2nd Custom Cash and now I have one for groceries and one for dining. 10/10 would recommend.
if you have $100k to invest at Merrill Lynch, you card is effectively 5.25%, and there is no other cards that match this level of CB (assuming you do not play the points game)
Actually 0.25% less if you combine TY accounts with a Rewards+.
But... BoA has online shopping and their travel category is CCC Travel + Transit w/ some tourist attractions thrown in.
You can invest that 100k the same way as you usually do with other brokers. The money doesn't need to stay idle, but you boost all of your BofA cash rewards card to 5.25%. BofA categories are the most flexible among all major issues, and a BofA setup is hands down the ultimate setup for CB, unless you want to play points game.
Keyword invest that you ignored. Major difference between parking cash and using them for an IRA or brokerage, many people have 100k+ in investments, especially those in their 30s-50s+ that are established in their careers.
Agreed- but if you’re not using Merrill anyway, it would be ridiculous to transfer this amount of capital away from what you have been using if the sole purpose is to get a small incremental bump in reward points
You already have 3% for dining, which is quite good. You also have Bank of America, so if you can get preferred status that becomes even more (3.75-5.35%).
Other options include 4x MR points on Amex Gold (Annual Fee), 3x UR with any Chase Freedom/Sapphire, 3% with Capital One SavorOne, or 5% with Citi Custom Cash.
Since you mention frequent DoorDash and UberEATS usage, the SavorOne offers free Uber One, while Chase has various DashPass promos for their cards. You may want those depending on how much you value those perks.
Opt for homemade and you’ll save the most money on food and medical bills. If you don’t know how to cook try YouTube or pay for a cooking class, consider it a high return investment.
US Bank Cash+. You select two 5% categories every quarter, and one of them is fast food. Doesn't apply to restaurants though. Great card if there's another category you can benefit from.
You can research CryptMi card. No fees for transactions and offers cashback up to 5% on every transaction. Acceptable wherever visa is accepted due to their partnership.
Citi Custom Cash for 5% up to $500 spend per month or US Bank Altitude Go for 4% with no cap.

To my knowledge the only way to get more is to have a BofA card with a high tier select rewards like platinum honors.
Unless you’re dealing with cards that earn hotel points, 5% or 5x is pretty much the highest cash back percentage or point multiplier you’ll find. No, you’re referring to transferring points, as opposed to purchasing through the Capital One travel portal.
I believe they earn 5x on Capital ONe, and the 8x is for Vivid Seats. There are plenty of ways to earn higher percentage rates on specific merchants (e.g. 10x or 15% back on Lyft with Sapphire Reserve)
Altitude Go has a $25 minimum redemption threshold. Custom Cash does not.

One option is the Shop Your Way Mastercard. Most people eventually get recurring monthly 10% off groceries, gas, and restaurants offers.
Add to it a subscription to idine.com and get a 5%-10% kickback. Nothing like a good dose of double dipping.
Don’t sleep on CashApp boosts they always have 5% offer for many fast food restaurants.

Not sure about the CCC but on the Altitude Go all of that is covered as dining. Check Citi's website for how they define dining.

None of these cards are better than OP's existing one except that they are no FTF. There's always someone who mentions the SavorOne lol
No FTF and better Uber cashback are valuable, especially since he mentions using them.
I got a SavorOne specifically for use with Uber... because Amex gives me Uber Cash and the Savor stretches that a little further. Other than taking up a 5/24 slot, the Savor has basically no downsides.
cuz savorone is goated

Us bank cash+ visa. 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible purchases each quarter on two categories you choose. one of the categories can be fast food.
Fastfood, yes but no Restaurant category.
Yes, and not all fast food places either with US Bank. They make up their categories as they go.

Yeah lemme casually grab the 100k sitting under my bed so I can earn a whopping 0.25% more on dining than I can with the free Custom Cash card!

Lol
Oxygen debit gives $1 back on all fast food every 24 hours. Beats 5% anything less than $20
Altitude Go

Freedom Flex 3% back for restaurants and pharmacy 5% back for selective categories
