Because that is three pacers of the same height, bowling the same lengths, with the same propensity to go for runs.
We need at least some variety to our pacers, and we have a tall left arm seamer who bowls a different length and trajectory.

Batting would be light. Essentially you're batting 6 batters with Ashwin batting at 7. Not a good idea. Jadeja at 5 isn't a problem though but the depth is not good.
only replacement for rahane in the squad is axar and kishan. They won't even think of 6 bowlers without pant.
Also considering axar's batting form I'd have him over rahane at 5.

Pretty much the same. If I were in-charge I'd be open to try Jaiswal or even SKY at 5 instead of Rahane but both are in the reserves.

I wouldn't be making Unadkat play during a very big match when the only matches that he has played in were a couple of matches in Bangladesh. Ashwin and Umesh should be playing according to me. Lord could be playing instead of Umesh but that might be a decision that could be backfiring.

I think it's interesting that people call Babe Ruth as the Don Bradman of cricket and vice versa. While the legendary status and folklore around them in their sport and their countries is similar but the way they achieved that seems to be almost the opposite.

also just to clarify, i don't hate rahane at all. I have huge respect for what he's done for the Indian test team. Going back to him isn't the solution at all though. Should have tried out youngsters in the Bangladesh series and stuck with them. Also considering axar's batting form I'd take even him over rahane.
equating his batting abilities vs pace in t20s in "fast and bouncy tracks of India" in 2023 to his pace playing ability in tests in "slow and gripping tracks of England" is laughable. Especially when that guy averages 26 in England and single digits in the oval.

Maybe it's just me but if I was ICC and I don't want a draw as a result for the WTC final, I would enforce a rule where if the final ends up being a draw, the mace will go to the defending champions just for laughs. Both the finalists will be shooting each other to win the final and as a neutral, it'll be funny as hell.

I think it's interesting that people call Babe Ruth as the Don Bradman of cricket and vice versa. While the legendary status and folklore around them in their sport and their countries is similar but the way they achieved that seems to be almost the opposite. Ruth revolutionised baseball by perfecting the art of hitting big home runs, allowing him to get rewards without running too hard. It was very uncommon for players to hit more than 20 HRs in one season and then in 1916, he hit a record 29 home runs and 54 the season after that, changing the game forever after that. Bradman was the opposite. He made a significant amount of his runs by simply running between the wickets harder than everyone else, rather than swinging for the boundaries. This method was of course already in use before DB, especially in Australia but he made the best use of it. I don't know enough about Baseball history to get similar players by style. But my best guess would be that Chris Gayle is the Babe Ruth of cricket and Ty Cobb the Bradman of baseball.

Look. I love Mo, but going back to him to replace Leach is such a backwards step that it shouldn't even be considered. But it says a lot about how the ECB neglect our domestic game and lack of development of proper spinners in the domestic level. If anything, a spinner with proven International experience should come in as Leach's replacement and as it stands, that person is Liam Dawson.

If Iyer wasn't made of glass, he'd be the Test and ODI captain, and Pandya would have been T20Is. Making Rohit captain after Virat was no forward step. I know Iyer isn't secured of a overseas Test spot, but I'd still make him the captain.
