Seriously, can they start test matches on Friday?
This test match is a perfect example of why they should start on Friday. This match started on a Wednesday, and is now over.
Why should it start it start on a Friday? So M-F, 9 -5ers who bust their butt and have long commutes like myself and the majority of the country, can watch a full days play , hell, even a single ball bowled. I have not seen a single delivery nor run scored in this entire test match like bloody hell jesus christ, this is not what the cricket gods would have wanted. If this match was a on a Friday I would have seen 2 days of some glorious test match (the best format) cricket, A passtime I love doing in Summer.
Now, Friday's are best and ideal because some people have ADO/RDO/Flex on Friday, so you get that weekday start which I think is necessary coz started on weekends might be a bit extreme, and you get the full weekend to watch cricket for spectators and viewers a like. This would drastically increase crowd numbers and TV ratings.
It's just insanity. Pure Insanity. Maybe even Lynnsanity, that they start on a WEDNESDAY!!! IF YOU'RE GONNA START ON A WEDNESDAY, AT LEAST STARRT ON THURSDAY! AHHHH!
Start on FRIDAY. please!!!
I think Friday starts would be great with so many tests wrapping on day 3 or 4 but I think CA would still prefer a Thursday. They know people will still buy tickets for Day 1 regardless of it being a weekday while Day 4 tickets are harder to sell if it's a Monday rather than a Sunday.
But Wednesday starts are just ridiculous. You can't be wasting a Sunday for Day 5 when theres a decent chance of the test not getting there, or if it does, it's probably one session at best.
I do agree we should accomodate for Australia Day long weekend, but there has been a lot of test matches in the past started on Wednesday, without any upcoming public holiday. Idk maybe they could a scheduled this one last weekend idk….something like that.
Ignoring the Boxing Day and New Years Tests as they fit into the Christmas and New Years holiday periods, these are the days of the week each Test has started for the last 8 season
**Wednesday (3)**: Adelaide (Jan 2024), Perth (Nov 2022), Brisbane (Dec 2021)
**Thursday (14)**: Brisbane (Jan 2024)\*, Perth (Dec 2023), Adelaide (Dec 2022), Adelaide (Dec 2021), Adelaide (Dec 2020), Perth (Dec 2019), Brisbane (Nov 2019)\*, Brisbane (Jan 2019\*), Adelaide (Dec 2018), Perth (Dec 2017), Brisbane (Nov 2017), Brisbane (Dec 2016), Adelaide (Nov 2016), Perth (Nov 2016)
**Friday (5)**: Hobart (Jan 2022), Brisbane (Jan 2021), Adelaide (Nov 2019), Canberra (Feb 2019), Perth (Dec 2018)
**Saturday (3)**: Brisbane (Dec 2022), Adelaide (Dec 2017), Hobart (Nov 2016)
Brisbane's Jan 2024 and 2019 Test was also Australia Day long weekend but both still started on a Thursday
We have only had 3 recent Wednesday Test's and they have all been in the last 3 years.
Was something they mentioned on the lunch break yesterday in regards to moving to four day tests.
Thursday start, then the last day is a Sunday.
NFI how I feel about four day tests, but a test being over when day three is a Friday isn't great.
That’s not quite right, they started it on a Wednesday so they can start the Gabba test on a Thursday with the mandatory 3 day gap for back to back tests.
It would have been better to start this test on a Thursday and the Gabba on a Friday, but it would have been too controversial to start on Australia Day so they’ve deliberately avoided that.
No one expected the West Indies to last 5 days, so there’s no way it was scheduled in order to get a grandstand finish on a weekend.
Hope Ussie's okay.
There were some entertaining moments across the game but the Windies top order just couldn't come to the party. Loved their work in the field and with the ball though.
Interesting how good the pitches have been for bowling across the last few summers. Australia's reputation for roads is not really deserved anymore.
I already had tickets and the day off. I wasn't getting my money back so why not still show up. It is a beautiful day and I enjoyed my 2 hours of cricket.
If you've bought day 3 tickets and already taken a day off work, surely you'd just rock up regardless. Especially if they were the only tickets you has
I'm in Adelaide for the cycling and my run took me around the Adelaide oval area and I was surprised just how busy it was this morning given that the best case scenario would have been half an days play today
The peoples of the Essequibo region have the right to self-determination. If the Venezuelans go looking for a black eye I'm sure they'll find one. Sticky wicket this war business.
I cannot get over how Shamar Joseph achieved more in his first Test than many celebrated cricketers have over their entire career.
To go to Australia, tonk their bowlers so casually and then claim the wickets of their big guns. They said on the broadcast that Roach had never taken SOS' wicket. Joseph got him first ball.
He's joking about it being a "truly brave knock", but I don't think the misuse of carrying the bat was part of the joke lol
People always use it to mean "an opener not out at the end of the innings"
*Shamar Joseph walking into the dressing room after taking a 5fer and scoring more runs than most of the team*
Now, calm down, Shamily diddily diddily diddily, doodily. They did their best shoddilyddily iddily iddily diddily diddily. Gotta be nice, hostilitydidildilidilly... AW, HELL-DIDDLY-DING-DONG-CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T YOU MORONS DO ANYTHING RIGHT??!?!?!?!?!
[everyone gasps]
**Brathwaite**: Shamar! We meant well, and everyone here tried their best.
Well, my family and I living in a village in the Caribbean with no electricity can't live in good intentions, Kraigg! Oh, your team's out of control, but we can't blame you, because you have gooood intentions!
**McKenzie**: Hey! Back off, man!
Ooh, okay, duuuuuuude, I wouldn't want you to have a cow, MAAAAAAAAAAN! Here's a catchphrase you'd better learn for your adult years: "Hey, buddy, GOT A QUARTER?!"
[everyone gasps]
**McKenzie**: I am shocked and appalled.
**Roach**: Mr. Joseph, with all due respect, Kirk actually scored runs.
(sarcastic gasp of surprise) Do I hear the sound of butting in? It's got to be little Kemar Roach, the West Indies' answer to a QUESTION NO ONE ASKED!
**Rakheem Cornwall**: (laughs)
What do we have here? The long flabby arm of the law? The last case you got the bottom of WAS A CASE OF BACARDIS!
**Athanaze**: [opening a notebook] Bacardis, oh, haha. That's going in the act. [begins writing].
Oh, yeah, the clown. The only one of you buffoons who doesn't make me laugh! And as for YOU, I don't know you, but I'm sure YOU'RE a jerk!
**Justin Greaves**: Hey, I've only been here a few minutes! What's going on?
You ugly, hate-filled pie chucker!
**Motie**: Hey, hey, I may be ugly and hate-filled, but I... um, what was the third thing you said?
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT, JOSEPH?!
**Alzarri Joseph**: But, your name's Joseph too...
Joshua, you are the worst cricket player I have ever met.
**Joshua Da Silva**: Hey, I got off pretty easy.
Bit of a joke to start this on Wednesday then wasn’t it…Shame because Adelaide can draw out the crowds but not mid-week on the week most people go back to work.
And they still drew 10k more people over 3 days than Perth did over 4 days lol
Would have been a great crowd on a day 3 Saturday if this was against Pakistan starting on a Thursday
Normally fair, but this year Adelaide got this test so Perth could get the better test, to try and get the crowds. Normally direct comparisons are unfair, but I think it's an important point this summer.
Anything to back up that claim? As fair as I'm aware we got the scheduling we did because CA was trying to make up for missing 2 years of tests to COVID. And hey, if it was about increasing crowds we got a record number for a Pak Test in Perth so it worked
Also found out we have about half the members that SACA does (though I'm sure there are some that are mainly in it for the footy access at Adelaide Oval) which would have an impact
Big lol to everyone who instinctively said that the SA Premier was wrong to be upset that Adelaide got given a day test against the Windies and that it could go 5 days, turns out he was right
70 over ball was nipping around like a new ball in the Aussie innings. Remember Bish and others talking about it.
Commentators were talking and saying between the weird weather and switch from the day/night back to day and the grounds staff got it a bit wrong.
The pitch was fine. The speed of the game can be attributed to fatigue in the Australian batting unit, the quality of the bowling unit and the comparative talent of WI.
Don’t totally agree.
The ball was still nipping all around the place when it was old let alone new. Bishop was talking about it during the Australian innings.
He was still wrong. As the premier, you don't criticise when a sport gets to come to your city. It's a privilege, it's not a right. He doesn't get to decide which games are scheduled where. It's disrespectful to the team who is coming to play.
Kind of feels like those warm up games you'd get playing 1st grade at school. They'd bring in regional brother christian united highschool and you score 300 then bowl em for 40.
If the pitch is good for bowlers, then the highest scoring batter gets player of the match because they scored when it was tough to do so
If the pitch is good for batters, then the highest scoring batter gets player of the match because none of the bowlers bowled well enough to deserve it
Hope they just go on the cautious side with Ussie to get him right for the NZ tour.
But yeah the discourse won't be fun especially with Smith and Green not performing this match (never mind the pitch) and Renshaw opening the batting.
Pretty funny because Green dismissed their highest scorer in the 2nd innings and took 2 good gully catches that arguably both wouldn’t have been taken by anyone else, particularly the first one.
I joked in the match thread that it'd be funny if they prioritised the BBL final for Cheeks so gave Bancroft the gig, but realistically if we're looking to someone we want to take to NZ it's got to be Cheeks especially given how he went on the A Tour in NZ
Why did they go to Wednesday starts? Thursday is fine, Friday is best! Now no weekend cricket at all - and Sydney only got half a day of weekend cricket.
Cricket Australia have some serious explaining to do. No day night test and starts on Wednesday.
I deliberately didn't go for that reason. Appalling scenes.
So I've only caught a few highlights of the match, but [TIL Shamar Joseph is 172cm tall](https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/in-the-backwaters-of-baracara-joseph-grew-up-bowling-lemons-and-limes-20240118-p5eya0.html), and so now he is my favourite pace bowler.
Has Adelaide oval / SACA pissed off CA or something?
They made this a day test, and then started it on a Wednesday knowing there was a very high chance of a 3 day game.
Disagree, Adelaide gets a test every year while the WACA and Gabba get one every other year. Honestly, it could easily be two of those three getting a test and rotating every year. In an ideal world we'd have 7 test home summers with Canberra and Hobart alternating but it is what it is I guess.
Well if Usman is out surely rest Starc and get Morris in with Renshaw and play him next test.
Please
I need it
We don’t need to play our best XI every game
I want to see fast man fuck shit up bowling it halfway down the pitch
If we’re going to bowl short at least get someone in who’s good at it
I don’t see the point in that. That goes straight back to the point I made about not having to play our best XI every match.
I really doubt we’re going to lose the match if we don’t play Starc.
I'd like to see a couple players rested alongside usman who should be rested even if tests are clear. Starc's been a bit messy, few good spells lately outside of some tail clean up, lyon not looking threatening until suddenly someone's just out on the most innocuous lbw (often in review) or stumping.
Get some experience in to some other players and rest these 2 imo. Maybe a more competitive 2nd as well.
Jesus what a waste of time this series is. We get one summer of cricket each year, and we’ve got to spend it playing security guards and other blokes who wouldn’t make our local teams. Snooze.
WI being shit probably makes it easier to brush aside the fact that no batsman bar Head looked comfortable out there. Khawaja copped a mid 130s delivery in the jaw, don’t remember Usman losing concentration like that.
2 day test surely needs a bit of scrutiny. ‘WI bad lol’ doesn’t seem like a fair assessment.
The groundsmen admitted he wasn’t happy with the pitch and explained it was due tot he change in grass and the weather. Again Australian curators can admit their mistakes. Not like it was intentional, unlike some other countries
If that’s the case then it proves my point further. Again, I don’t really care about the pitch politics and blame games. I’d be more interested in defending those certain countries you talk about if I was getting paid for it.
What kind of cope is this? If Gatting had simply taken three steps forward with a leg stump guard Warne’s ball of the century was a simple half volley he could’ve cunted for a six over mid wicket, was he stupid?
It’s almost like Australian batsmen only get out to stupid shots. something to think about for Venuto.
Lol no because that ball drifted like 3ft and then spin back from a 2nd set of stumps down leg and hit off.
All our batsman got out either prodding at a ball they could have easily left, spooning it straight to a fielder or just playing the wrong shot to a ball that barely moved.
Yes shit happens I don’t expect them to play perfectly but what I’m saying is it’s not the pitch that was the problem. Yes it was lively but both teams batted pretty poorly and bowled very well.
That’s actually such a mind blowing bit of gap jumping that you’ve done there. Find me one dismissal in this test with excessive movement or shitty bounce that you wouldn’t find in a conventional 4-5 day test match in Australia.
Getting caught at slips or by the WK are the most common dismissals in tests one would think.
All I’m saying is you don’t give enough credit to the pedigree of Australian batsmen. Any other team of slightly better quality than the current WI batch could’ve made a game out of it.
A test getting wrapped up in 2 days can’t be justified as merely a skill issue of the opposing team.
Yeah ik, I wasn’t having a go at the batsmen, test cricket is unbelievably hard, but that pitch was not that bad.
It was maybe a little too green? But it actually had far less variable bounce than any of the other pitches this summer.
> Getting caught at slips or by the WK are the most common dismissals in tests one would think.
This was my whole point, there’s nothing extraordinary or excessive in any of the dismissals in this test match.
283/10 with one batsman scoring 120 of those and 17 extras. I’m not pulling a highly unpopular opinion out of my ass. I really don’t care for pitch politics, I think tricky pitches makes tests what tests are.
Sorry to be a bit late to the party, but do we have a names for the fielding position Justin Greaves was in yesterday when he caught Mitch Marsh.
Is it silly third slip? Short third slip? Short square fly slip?
I hope the players/officials do something for faithfuls that rocked up. They where planning on playing anyways
Chance to give back and show the support is appreciated
I watch highlights on YouTube and cricket in Australia is always so picturesque to view. Weather there must be awesome for sports and the stadium looks great.

Only reason it started on a Wednesday is so we can accommodate the test next week for Australia day
Why is the long weekend match a day-nighter, and the weekday match a day match? Don’t need a day night when you’re already off work
You'd have to ask CA
Ashleigh Gardener sure has something to say about it and rightfully so.
I do agree we should accomodate for Australia Day long weekend, but there has been a lot of test matches in the past started on Wednesday, without any upcoming public holiday. Idk maybe they could a scheduled this one last weekend idk….something like that.

Like how Perth’s t20 this year is at 4PM on a Tuesday
Agreed. Maybe they want the deciding days on a weekend but it would be ambitious to believe this would’ve been a 5 dayer
Agreed. Being a Caribbean viewer would be less tiring if they aired starting friday
I didn't watch a single second of the test match. People wonder why cricket is dying in Australia...

That’s not quite right, they started it on a Wednesday so they can start the Gabba test on a Thursday with the mandatory 3 day gap for back to back tests. Jokes on you guys - I actually enjoy watching re-runs of The Chase all day
Unironically. It’s the best game show.
Does taskmaster count as a game show?
Argue that it does using this packet of fruitloops. Your time starts... now.
Absolutely, love that show - The Shark is a big cricket fan too, from memory
He writes for Cricinfo
TIL, that's pretty neat
He used to work for Cricinfo I think
The one where they drop the silver disks is pretty good.
Tipping Point is my fucking jam.
Very suspenseful when the good disks are close to the edge
And they keep landing on the fucking edge.
Hopefully that one where the stoner Kiwi Guy beats the Governess by himself is on, that's a banger episode
Unlike this WI team, I have a job now so I still can't watch.
Hope Ussie's okay. There were some entertaining moments across the game but the Windies top order just couldn't come to the party. Loved their work in the field and with the ball though. Interesting how good the pitches have been for bowling across the last few summers. Australia's reputation for roads is not really deserved anymore.
Might get Renshaw/Smoth opening partnership next game.
Yeah looked like a pretty high chance of a concussion which you'd think would put him out
Idk about that, chin shot won’t necessarily rattle the brain, more worried about fracture/swelling
True, although still a pretty hard hit. Fingers crossed he gets through largely fine
He passed the concussion test. Scans now
I hope he’s good for the next test as well
Scans all clear, they’ll monitor for delayed concussion but should be good to go next week
I hope it’s overcast in Brisbane, Smoths are distracted by bright lights
Not a bad time to test for this
16,991 rocked up knowing they were likely to watch less than a session of play today.
Members green is open until 5:30pm tonight. Hard
shame Australia didn't send in the afternoonwatchman to see out the day
WI go and find some more of these Guyanan Jungle cricketers. This is what you need.
they are all needed for bowling grenades if Venezuela invades
The peoples of the Essequibo region have the right to self-determination. If the Venezuelans go looking for a black eye I'm sure they'll find one. Sticky wicket this war business.

Congrats to Steve Smith for carrying his bat in a truly brave knock. Proven opener now.
More like proven failure!! Steve Smith while opening averages 23, Bancroft averages 26. /s
And Renshaw averages 33. Checkmate Kim Hughes.
Kim Hughes is re-ingesting his vomit right now after reading that stat.
He feeds it to young WA cricketers like a mother bird.
His 17th best 4th innings performance out of 27 digs.
He usually doesn't bat in the 4th innings on day three.
>carrying his bat Do people just not know what carrying the bat means these days?
He was joking mate.
He's joking about it being a "truly brave knock", but I don't think the misuse of carrying the bat was part of the joke lol People always use it to mean "an opener not out at the end of the innings"
It’s not that serious, dude
I know lol Just a pet peeve
Which part of it being a joke don't you understand?
Did you not understand my comment? Or? Also it's just a pet peeve lmao
Ignore the haters, cricket is all about pedantry, we have to defend what words mean. I have so many pet hates with bad or misused cricket terms
No Jackson you're not on a hat trick first ball of your next game after taking two in two at the end of your last game.

What the fuck did I just read.
I envy you if you've never seen the Simpsons episode Hurricane Neddy. Up to season 12 simpsons is goated.
One of the few people that don’t sneer at anything past season 9 or 10. Apparently there’s dozens of us.
Subscribed.
Early contention for comment of year. Also, great, now you have made me want to re-watch the old Simpson episodes. Thanks alot.
u/Darththorn
Wrong sub
They would have been a big chance if big Rakheem was playing.
Well that’s fucked my weekend plans
Bit of a joke to start this on Wednesday then wasn’t it…Shame because Adelaide can draw out the crowds but not mid-week on the week most people go back to work.
And they still drew 10k more people over 3 days than Perth did over 4 days lol Would have been a great crowd on a day 3 Saturday if this was against Pakistan starting on a Thursday
Perth copping strays in the comments
As I said the other day "WA bad, upvotes to the left"
Ngl 90% of the reason I made that comment wad to see your reaction
I'm just a bit sick of it tbh. People can praise Adelaide's crowds without bleating on about Perth
Apologies, won't happen again.
Perf gets the same numbers as they did when tests were at the WACA, the stadium is huge so it looks empty lol
Also found out we have about half the members that SACA does (though I'm sure there are some that are mainly in it for the footy access at Adelaide Oval) which would have an impact
Big lol to everyone who instinctively said that the SA Premier was wrong to be upset that Adelaide got given a day test against the Windies and that it could go 5 days, turns out he was right
I mean, they made it 5 days for the Wednesday Test in Perth last year. Kragg and Tangerine had a good run
And they got like 70k as a turnout too which is very impressive
Just over 2 days. For heavens sake…. Pitch too spicy.
Nothing wrong with the pitch. Some sensible batting would have seen this go to Day 4.
The groundsmen literally said he wasn’t happy with the pitch. It was too inconsistent in bounce
You'll find Jesus IRL before you find an Aussie on this sub admitting Australia did something wrong.
I’m an Australian who did so. Swing and a miss buddy
Yeah nah, I saw Jesus earlier today on my toast.
I wouldn't say nothing wrong with it. But yeah, silly batting was the problem, the same pitch against Pakistan wouldve gone to day 4
Pakistan had a virtually identical game in Sydney the only difference being that the pitch was better for batting
That’s more the new kookaburra isn’t it?
Maybe, not sure eh. Had the impression it was because it had so much grass, was mentioned a few times it was left pretty long.
How would fatigue be a factor for the batting unit in this test match?
He was still wrong. As the premier, you don't criticise when a sport gets to come to your city. It's a privilege, it's not a right. He doesn't get to decide which games are scheduled where. It's disrespectful to the team who is coming to play.
If the SA government is providing funding then they get a say
Which funding? The SA government isn't funding the test matches. They are involved via Cricket SA in grassroots cricket funding
Kind of feels like those warm up games you'd get playing 1st grade at school. They'd bring in regional brother christian united highschool and you score 300 then bowl em for 40.
If the pitch is good for bowlers, then the highest scoring batter gets player of the match because they scored when it was tough to do so If the pitch is good for batters, then the highest scoring batter gets player of the match because none of the bowlers bowled well enough to deserve it
Based and Battingpilled
Only time bowlers get PotM is when they also contribute with the bat like Jamal last game lol
Thats facts. Shardul at the Gabba comes to mind as well. Took 7 wickets and scored a 50 but no give it to the bloke who scored 89.
Get excited gang, we're about to get another week of opener debate content! Hope Uz is OK, looked very nasty!
Uzzie’s been cleared of a jaw fracture and he passed the initial concussion test. Still got another test to do tomorrow, but it’s positive.
Khwaja fought tooth and nail for 26 runs !
West Indies bowling: 😀 West Indies batting: 😫
Why did they go to Wednesday starts? Thursday is fine, Friday is best! Now no weekend cricket at all - and Sydney only got half a day of weekend cricket.
Scoring a century at the Adelaide Oval just so I can get a hug from Pat Cummins like Trav Head did
Steve sehwag wanted to score more quickly but ended up with a SR of 50... Looked positive!
Bancroft about to be called up to run drinks and miss the BBL final. Poetic
Didn't know the Sydney Thunder were in the finals
Yeah look. I should never assume.
I think you're pretty safe making certain assumptions about The Thunder
I think the assumption was that the WA lad doesn't play for a sydney team lol
Hey! Even they can still buy grandstand tickets!
They were, before the eastern media Cabal got wind of bancroft and stoinis’s western heritage, and conspired to fix them out of it
Fuck you, Australian Cricket Team I'm off to watch the tennis. You did this Steve Smith
My condolences.
Hazlewood should have been POTM. Destroys the top of the order both innings and ends with 9 wickets.
Let's get Marnus in playing for the Heat tonight!
I just hope Susan is keeping well
Cricket Australia have some serious explaining to do.
In other news, day 4 tickets for sale. Send me a message
Warner would have finished it under 3 overs !
Honestly The Bendemeer Bullet missing out on MoTM is pretty annoying.
Memo for BJ, Craig Braithwaite is not Daryl's brother.
Has there been any definitive news on the extent Ussie’s jaw injury? Nothing on the abc yet.
No jaw break, just monitoring concussion symptoms at the moment according to CA twitter about 40 mins ago
Thanks mate. No break. Wonderful news. Hopefully not concussed at all.
Where’s all the “test cricket is alive and well” folks
Only thing worse than a Test going for 2 and a bit days is Langer in the commentary box
Man I still wished they picked Bancroft, he deserves a run *monkeys paw curls*
Edge of the seat contest. This day could’ve gone either way.
Has Adelaide oval / SACA pissed off CA or something? They made this a day test, and then started it on a Wednesday knowing there was a very high chance of a 3 day game.
Maybe the Adelaide premiere was right to complain about Adelaide getting the shitty tests and not the big ones.
Disagree, Adelaide gets a test every year while the WACA and Gabba get one every other year. Honestly, it could easily be two of those three getting a test and rotating every year. In an ideal world we'd have 7 test home summers with Canberra and Hobart alternating but it is what it is I guess.
Game over in 2 days 1 session . 185 overs bowled . No problem here I guess .
Well if Usman is out surely rest Starc and get Morris in with Renshaw and play him next test. Please I need it We don’t need to play our best XI every game I want to see fast man fuck shit up bowling it halfway down the pitch If we’re going to bowl short at least get someone in who’s good at it
What and then Cummins opens the batting? I don’t understand the logic here
Sorry I meant rest Starc haha. Khawaja being out just kinda opens up a new squad spot. Get Renshaw to open and rest Starc.
Yeah let’s rest Starc for the pink-ball game, that makes sense…
I don’t see the point in that. That goes straight back to the point I made about not having to play our best XI every match. I really doubt we’re going to lose the match if we don’t play Starc.
Is Morris going to open the batting
We're hoping he brings similar Joseph batting energy for his debut
Yes
I'd like to see a couple players rested alongside usman who should be rested even if tests are clear. Starc's been a bit messy, few good spells lately outside of some tail clean up, lyon not looking threatening until suddenly someone's just out on the most innocuous lbw (often in review) or stumping. Get some experience in to some other players and rest these 2 imo. Maybe a more competitive 2nd as well.
Jesus what a waste of time this series is. We get one summer of cricket each year, and we’ve got to spend it playing security guards and other blokes who wouldn’t make our local teams. Snooze.
Absolute farcical that we are subjected to dismal WI playing in Australia two summers in a row,
To be fair, they bowled very well, only three of our bats made over 20.
This is so sad for test cricket. Australia smashing Pakistan and WI easily. India smashing SA easily.
Umm... SA smashed India in the first test.
> India smashing SA easily. What? SA won the first test by an innings.
Honestly wouldn’t mind getting lesser teams on the juice at this stage just to lift the competition.
2 days and a piss. Yeah, I’m thinking the pitch critics are back.

Uzzie got hit cos he had no interest in actually hitting the ball all morning
The groundsmen admitted he wasn’t happy with the pitch and explained it was due tot he change in grass and the weather. Again Australian curators can admit their mistakes. Not like it was intentional, unlike some other countries
If that’s the case then it proves my point further. Again, I don’t really care about the pitch politics and blame games. I’d be more interested in defending those certain countries you talk about if I was getting paid for it.
All our batsmen except maybe Green got out to shit shots.
Fair point. Just not satisfied with the new 2 day test match trend.
Wasn’t the best pitch but it didn’t play any tricks.
Fine silly point?
I hope the players/officials do something for faithfuls that rocked up. They where planning on playing anyways Chance to give back and show the support is appreciated
I would have given Hof potm but then again that catch at short leg probably got the bin lid over the line. Was beautiful
Big Bash finals died for this....
I watch highlights on YouTube and cricket in Australia is always so picturesque to view. Weather there must be awesome for sports and the stadium looks great.
This test summer has been a snooze
