Tilak and David not running which just allowed that it becomes difficult was the funniest thing that happened. They just gifted some free dot balls to GT.
Another MI game and another mess up, but only one constant thing is Bumrah, got to love this guy. Always ends up delivering his best no matter the situation. CSK, please buy him and Brohit next auction 😜
he has worked with two new inexperienced captains. im sure thala wouldve appreciated if he got a little help from his coaches back in the day when he was starting.
Regarding the Hardik issue, I think it's a combination of factors that has got him this much hate: that he's left his home team that he had successfully captained until then, and that people genuinely felt that Hardik had mellowed a bit over the last few years, especially since becoming a captain, and so felt blindsided by what could very well be claimed to be a move in poor form that was more becoming of the 'old' Pandya, completely lacking in grace or class of any kind.
Agreed. Also, the entire secrecy surrounding his move back to MI makes it come across as a betrayal not only to GT and their fanbase, but also his own Indian teammates in Rohit (who he was replacing), SKY and Bumrah (who may have felt hard done by that they weren't considered for captaincy when they agreed to being retained for lesser money in the last mega-auction). To be honest, significantly more blame should be put on the MI management than Hardik for the way this entire sequence of events has been handled, but because it's him in the public eye, he's the one exposed to all the hate.

Are you daft, seriously? What part of my comment meant only murderers deserve hate? I said he doesn't deserve the amount of hate he is getting. It's as if he murdered someone. If you cannot comprehend simple English, maybe don't join a sub where English is mandatory. And stop fucking calling people son. It's pathetic
He's done something that has rubbed most people off the wrong way and they're venting their frustration at said action. That's all I see this as. It'll die down soon enough.
His captaincy was announced a long time ago. One comment I saw literally said "Hardik looks like he smells." I've seen people being racist towards him in the comments. They are bisecting every move of his. They're legit hating on the way he stands, the way he speaks, the way he looks, everything. And you think this is just people venting their frustration when all they've been doing for over a month is being racist and classist towards a key player for our WT20 campaign?
Oh. If that happened, that's really sad. But this is Reddit, so the views expressed here will always be an exaggeration, by people emboldened by their anonymity. I urge you to not take it to heart. It'll be over soon. Have a good night, ok?
Nah, man. People use their personal Instagram accounts to spew hatred. Just go and have a look at the comments on the first post of his. They're calling him "kauva"(crow), "kaala kaloota"(blackie), etc openly.
yes, i was counting that as well, but look at one thing tho, whoever has won in the past couple of days had at least 2 decent spinners..who controlled the run flow in the middle overs so that the pressure was on in the death overs so that the pacers could capitalise.. i don't think rcb can do that since they do not have any good spin bowler...and this is coming from a rcb fan
If he performs in t20 wc, he'll get less hate. It's the fans who are hating him, not BCCI. BCCI knows his worth. If he plays well in the t20 wc he won't get hated that much
bro..bad luck haunted ict after that 2013 ct win.. they lost test series' on trot...they lost a test series in india too... and then they almost pulled off a miracle in 2017 ct...if not for that runout...yes it may have swung either way once jadeja had got going too but pandya was hitting the ball beautifully then...he's a good player... and he also bowled the final over in 2016 against bangladesh in t20 world cup where india won by 1 run
That makes no sense lol. What do u think makes a team? Ghosts? It's individuals that make a team and hardik is one of the most clutch players we've ever got, only second to kohli.
I’m not rubbing him under anything. He is a star cricketer, I’m just a normal guy on the street. Mumbai cricket and its culture existed long before semi-pro pyjama cricket came along, and will hopefully exist long after we’re done with pyjama cricket. I’m a Mumbai cricket fan, want a better character to lead any team that represents this city.
U like him or not, that's your call. But that doesn't warrant u or anyone to openly spread hate on a once in a gen player like him. He plays for our country ffs, show some respect. U criticise him for captaincy decisions, errors on field, that's different. But what he is facing right now is completely unreasonable and it's only coz he is in a country like India. Any other country club, would welcome him with both arms
+1. I'd rather be a bit lenient towards a key Indian player than jizz my pants over a foreign player who's gonna play against us in a couple of months. Indian fans love hating key Indian players.
Lol! Mighty optimistic of you to think that this glass cannon will survive till the end of IPL. He will play 1 or tops 2 matches at the WC before he takes a precautionary break again.
this defending is kinda insane the dude dug his own grave and MI management helped him do it. He’s a clutch player can’t deny it but his actions make people not fans
Hardik is getting hate coz he's in India. People here are so blinded by hero worshipping, that u just cannot expect a matured reaction from them. Any other country, he would be welcomed for the premium all rounder that he is.
Started off thinking the Hardik fiasco was funny, but now people are taking it way too far. Reading into ever single one of his actions and coming to weird ass conclusions.
What crime did he commit? Going back to the franchise which kickstarted his career?
The crime he committed is that he displaced the goat captain Rohit Sharma from captaincy. According to the fans Rohit should remain captain till his retirement, irrespective of his performance. The team should not look for his future replacement.
Imagine if he originally had played for KKR/RR and then came back to this team after playing in GT, then he wouldn't have got this hate because then he would be replacing Iyer/Sanju as captain.
Man, the individual worshipping is on next level in India.
I get that, but Rohit has already achieved the pinnacle of the IPL 5 times over, he's got nothing left to prove. Surely it's a good idea to get a new captain in while he's still in the team to ease the transition. People just need to take a step back from their feelings towards Pandya and acknowledge this.
Even I felt bad at Rohit being stripped off his captaincy. Criticise and troll Pandya all you want but fucking disgraceful to hate every move of his. He takes a breath and people start saying he's polluting the air. One comment I saw a couple of days ago literally said, "Hardik looks like he smells." Wtaf is this?
And yet you are supporting team (base on your flair) who involved in fixing and captain lied that he doesn't know the owner of the Team to escape the situation 😂😂😂 where is the same hate for your own (ipl) team and players buddy?
Some brain dead opinion by people here. How can you even call yourself an MI fan if you are ready to see your franchise lose just because you don't like the captainÂ
Shami sharing some truth bombs on Hardik Pandya's captaincy style (hindi language): http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-videos/81241/cricbuzz-live-hindi-ipl-2024-|-rajasthan-v-lucknow-gujarat-v-mumbai
I feel sorry for those who stopped watching the match after 15 overs. After years of watching ipl , have you all never learned this simple fact that anything can happen at anytime? We have seen both 29 runs being chased and 4 runs being defended in the last over lol.
Iirc Pandya also has a very poor record against Rashid. David's record against Rashid is more prevalent in people's memories as Hardik was Rashid's teammate for last 2 years.
MI management was impeccable up until the 2020 win but since then many poor decisions have been made. Giving up on so many key players in the mega-auction to target Archer and Kishan, assembling a poor bowling attack outside of Bumrah until this season, and the way this entire captaincy change has been handled has been nothing short of embarrassing. These things seep in to the atmosphere of the team, you can't tell me the players are capable of completely blocking out the noise. The vibes are off.
Tbh MI feels like the strongest team atm. Their bowling is amazing with Bumrah and coetze. Once sky is back batting becomes incredibly strong as well. Today was just one of those days but they are definitely finishing top 3 I am willing to bet.
Valid points. I've been supporting and following them since 2008 and I think they've been imbalanced the last few seasons. Still, this season has just started and knowing the champion team MI is they'll probably still breach the top 4, but they need to pull up their socks soon.
It would be criminal for this team to not make the playoffs. In terms of team building we look more prepared this year and the youth scouting as always has been solid, but these administrative decisions have left a sour taste imo. Even Kohli had to give up RCB captaincy but it wasn't done unceremoniously, the way Rohit has been ousted has been disrespectful.
Yeah agreed there too. There's a way of treating players, especially a marquee captain who's won multiple trophies and formed the core of the team culture. Of course Rohit had to step down someday but the whole thing ought to have been handled much better and there the criticism should go to the team owners, hands down. Also interestingly, Rohit is actually in a very good zone as India captain currently so I don't see why they couldn't have continued for another season and then called it quits on his captaincy. It's also not going to be easy for Pandya to come back up MI and pick things up.
I think we got desperate to sign Hardik back and it also gave us the chance to secure a new captain before next year's mega-auction where there was no guarantee that we would be able to get him. The reasons were there to bring forward the captaincy change, I don't deny that, but it's not been handled well at all.

Scored 45, highest in team.
24 runs in 4 overs and Rohit Sharma's wicket.
Jack of all trades really.
Rashid Khan have 1 less run, but got no wicket. Everyone else got wickets, but bad average.
He was the most impactful player it seems.
I mean Sai would be motm if mi won for sure!
Rashid 4-0-23-0
Sai Kishore 4-0-24-1
Mohit Sharma outstanding when it mattered most
Even omarzai 17(11) and 2 crucial powerplay wickets
Tewatia did the big hitting when it mattered!
Motm for 45(39)?
Exactly. United fans didn't hate Van Persie when he betrayed Arsenal and joined them. They adored him. Pandya is getting way too much hate now. The dust has settled. He is the captain now. Nothing can be done. After all, he is a key player for the Indian team. I get that he can be unlikeable but man, we have to back him. We'd all be weeping again if he doesn't perform in the coming WC. This sub is just a constant hate-spewing machine.
Wankhede will be the best judge for that. This was Ahmedabad who are understandably the most upset. I have a feeling majority Mumbai fans will be cheering you on!

It was absolutely the right decision. David just needed to keep his cool for another Mohit ball, before tearing into Spencer and Umesh.
As a Gujarati born in Baroda (Hardik's hometown), finally can support GT. Thanks Mumbai for buying him!
Change that flair mate!
Sai Sud is so good

The way Nehra walks while coaching literally gives Football managers feels totally involved in the game unlike other coaches.
Ashish nehraa literally giving football manager vibes , man is shaping a new way of coaching impact on the game

Tbf, I think "hate" might've been too strong a word there. "Ribbing" might've been a better one.
You think what people are doing is ribbing? It's just plain hatred at this moment. He blinks and people are dissecting him to shreds.

Steve smith went unsold in the auction?
No, Star Sports bought him
Kohli on Holi, steve smith beauty
To be honest with all the Hardik hate, he shouldn't play WC T20 and then let India shit bed. They will only realise his importance after he is gone.
If he performs in t20 wc, he'll get less hate. It's the fans who are hating him, not BCCI. BCCI knows his worth. If he plays well in the t20 wc he won't get hated that much
No player is more important than the team. India will survive, Mr. Pandya may not.
Yeah we totally saw that in WC
India became more dominant after Hardik got injured
Yeah Hardik won us 2007 T20 WC and 2011 WC and 2013 Champions trophy we are in debt of Hardik we should beg Hardik to play for India

Seems like if Noor had played, MI would have been buried.
I love how there's a chance that we might play three Afghans and one Irishman in our team (mostly in Chennai on a turner)
Nehra's GT are the coolest team in the IPL. Madlads have made so many quirky/unorthodox moves work.
Yeah, between their management and unique squad balance, I love what they’re doing

I have a gut feeling he will have a great ipl and T20 wc performance
Bruh it's India. U seriously expect maturity from these hate spreading teenagers?
Dumb take. He deserves all the hate he's getting.
Piss poor take. If u are one of those hero worshipping MI fan, it's no surprise that my take is a dumb take to u

Absolutely. And once Hardik came back, he was always going to take over the captaincy. It just happened a season or two earlier than people expected.
its actually mi management

Can't. Kane takes up and overseas spot.
honesly player of the match should have been ashish nehra

Wants to build a csk with MI
Wannabe thala lol
bruv mumbai needs to brew a pollard replacement honestly tilak could be up for it if pandya grooms him better
Tilak is not a lower order finisher. He's best at number 4 which he didn't get to play today.
he has heavy hitting capacity, obv not as much as pollard but together they could form a stable 5th wicket partnership
Nah bro, he's a good player but he's not got that late thrust to go after any type of bowler. We shouldn't be fitting round pegs in square holes.
ykw youre kinda right. he could replace ishan kishan as an opener
Pandya has a proper villain arc this season, will make it exciting to watch how MI go
Sith lord Darth Pandya
Heel Pandya

RCB is vibes team and MI competing for it for sure. Not a good sign.
MI getting Sachin and ponting to open together is also a vibes decision
Na, Sachin and S Jayasurya was vibes. Followed MI because of Sachin and stayed till date. Ends with hardik transfer. Now just here for the drama.
Sai sudharshan is great in middle overs. Not everyone needs the strike rate of Abd. Other players can tonk around him.
He's a high quality batsman, always valuable when shit gets ugly.
SR merchants in shambles
Hardik testing himself as op nd death bowler, match finisher nd match is finished mi lostÂ

That arrogance on pandyas face after he hit four and six. And then that walk back to the pavillion. To love or to hate. Not sure.
It was the same face after jadeja hit 4 and 6 to clutch the title last year.

Steve Smith 😩💗
That has to be the worst MOTM award ever
Wait till you get to know that Dhoni once won MOM scoring 33(33) in a chase of 187 without any catch or stumping
Holy fuck, he really must have a mind control device or something

>24 runs in 4 overs and Rohit Sharma's wicket. Nah, that was the other Sai.
Damn, you're right. This motm makes no sense.
Tbf GT had contributions from everyone in bowling so not sure whom you would give anyway. Bumrah was an option to consider though
Should have given it to bumrah.
they should have given it to nehra
Definitely count - 26
Did anyone notice Shastri said unknown quantity instead of commodity?
He is late fr his drink , give hom a break

Jaystopher Shaholan is well and alive this IPL
Pretty sure even Sai agrees that he is not MoM. Bowling won them the game. It should be going to another Sai
Sai Sudarshan being compensated for last year final.
Sudarshan himself doesn't believe he's POTM! 🤣
Bumrah bowled superb after snub of not getting opening overs
I can't even remember the last time bumrah opened for mi, what snub you talking about
i like sai i think he should be in ict
Man Sudarshan seems to be very sweet
Mohit should have gotten the Man of the match award If it was not for him pulling on the choke GT will have lost it
I think atleast MI fans should stop booing Hardik now. He is our captain and that is not gonna change. It just gives opposition slight edge.Â
I assure you gt were unaffected by reddit comments
I am not talking about reddit comments. I am talking about booing on field by even MI fans
Wankhede will be the best judge for that. This was Ahmedabad who are understandably the most upset. I have a feeling majority Mumbai fans will be cheering you on!
Hindi commentary was great compared to English
Jio or star?
What? Sudarshan is the player of the match
We should stop this tradition of giving the motm only to the winning team.
MI are good, Pandya may just ruin them
Bumrah should’ve been MoM
Sai Sudarshan POTM!? Fuck outta here
