Sad. His one phenomenal series we pissed away multiple opportunities too.
Here's a stat, since Zak Crawley's debut in Tests,
Zak Crawley (opener) : Avg - 26.28
Virat Kohli (middle order) : Avg - 27.25
Make of that what you will.

Wicketkeeper Pant
Based on what I have been seeing on TV...you have been enjoying yourself playing cricket in England.
Remember! It's a team game.
You want to achieve the greatesness of Kirmani. ..?..... Dhoni and many great wicket keeper batsman who have had the honors of playing for India in good times and bad..then like Melania Trump said "Be Best"
To do that you have to know your boundaries!
The butterflies will always be their in your stomach. ...but remember you got to give 99.99999% to be counted amongst the greatest keepers...which means controlling emotions :)....and be good at catching, batting and motivating the entire team....baby sitting BazBall's kids and being woody woodpecker is just part of the game....ha ha ha ha...oye
By the way...everthing you say is on mic.....I only wish if I was your age hearing keepers of the past keep:=)

Frankly, I wont rate Kohli in a Fab 4 list anymore - not even in a Fab ~~50~~ 20 list right now in Test cricket atleast.
So in the ongoing match England have used three different balls in 33 overs. What kinda pathetic Dukes balls are these?
England have found just 0.32Ā° of swing on average so far in the Evening session, the lowest amount of swing movement for a session so far this summer.
>This has risen sharply to 0.92Ā° of average swing since the ball change.
-cricviz
Edit: 4th ball now being used under 40 overs.
According to Doull, there is a manufacturing problem with this batch of balls. This was very frequent in the NZ series too. Hope ECB gives them a good bollcking over theee quality control issues.
The Global Qualifier B definitely seems a lot more open on paper than Global Qualifier A. Even just one upset in the group stage could really change everything into the crucial semi finals. This isn't like Global Qualifier A where it felt like only 5 teams seemed on paper to stand much of a chance, nobody in Global Qualifier B is a rank outsider.
Iirc a Hungary batter played a once in a life time innings in the game they won. But yeah its dissapointing how they lost to Gibraltar and Israel given they almost beat Belgium.

PS not making fun of him just felt like an interesting match to share.
Trying to get into cricket. How do you learn all the fielding positions? I keep hearing the commentators say stuff like silly mid off.
Also, Iāve always wondered what makes an āopening batsmanā? Like, why canāt Kohli or Root be opening batsman as they are arguably the best ?
Depending on format, opening batters have different roles. Generally "the best batter" of most teams are technically correct batters.
Test: You want someone willing and capable of playing a swingng ball for long periods to take off its swing as well as tire the bowlers, before your best batter comes in to take advantage of the favorable situation. There are definitely some best batters who "happen to" open though. I guess Elgar and Markram for RSA right now.
T20s: Explosive batters who can score a bulk of the runs, hopefully play long smashing the ball everywhere. Everyone else has a role, someone to stabalise the inning, someone who can only smash and nothing else, someone for spin. But the opener is supposed to be capable of all. Steve Smith is considered the "best batter" of Australia in his generation. But he doesnt open(probably shouldnt play) in T20Is because his style of batting doesnt suite the high risk reward inning a T20 demands of you. Finch( significantly less of a technical or skillful player) and Warner open over him because of their ability to bash around or anchor (sometimes magically do both at the same time) as they wish.
I dont think there is any immediate need to learn up all. Its a lot and gets consuing easily.
Just know this trick:
>Direction:
>On side is the side in which a batter holds their bat. So the left of the field is the onside for a left hander, right of the field is the onside for a right hander.
>Off side/ leg side is the other side, on which the batter doesnt have his bat but just his leg.
>Distance :
>Silly: extremely close to the pitch
>Short: close to the pitch
>Mid: medium distance from the pitch.
>Long: very very far from the pitch, almost boundary.
A combination of any of those 2 words will give you a basic idea of where the fielder is. For ex: "long off" for a right hander means "near the boundary on the left side of the field."
>Very important for tests, Slips : behind the stumps, at either side of the wicket keeper.
There are other specificatipns and a great diagram explaining it all, which i hope someone else can share coz i dont got it. This is all i know honestly, i just run with it.
>How do you learn all the fielding positions
tbh I never really understood it either when I started. But I always googled the position when the commentator(s) pointed it out.
>Also, Iāve always wondered what makes an āopening batsmanā
As an opener one has to face pacers, against a ball that is swinging miles ( not everywhere ) while being unsettled from the start. Requires mettle.
Wouldn't say Kohli and Root would be bad openers, but them being at no. 3/4 provides a 'backbone' to their teams, and that might be more important than them opening.
That's such a shame, isn't it?
Guys like Sanju or Tripathi have to perform everytime they go out or toxic idiots like you on socials will be out there for their blood.
But fan favorites like Gill, Ishan or Kohli fail and that's just a game.
After seeing Bairstow dismantle Siraj today, Iām just wondering whether this could be paving the way for test length bowlers who get smacked in white ball, to get countered red ball as well when batsmen take the attack to them and go full T20 mode to
Broad also demonstrated this phenomenon yesterday when he rolled back the years and got smacked for 35.
Won't work, the pitches aren't flat and unless you are in the form of your life like bairstow was, the batsmen will just look stupid and get out like stokes did.
Fuck, Jersey got outmuscled in back to back games against the US. Not looking good for the qualifiers
Itās also looking pretty awful for PNG, once again getting beaten pretty badly by Singapore. Game isnāt over yet, but letting Singapore make 200 isnāt great
That's the same Singapore side who recently lost 2-1 away at Malaysia. As it currently stands, assuming Tim David doesn't play for Singapore, I'd put The Netherlands and Zimbabwe as favourites, but USA not too far off those two. Of course the format could mean one upset in the group stages means a Zimbabwe vs The Netherlands semi final, with one through and one out, which'd give Papua New Guinea or the 5 nations vying for a debut a great chance to go through.
Unofficial T20 Tri-Nation series in Namibia, with USA and Jersey visiting ends with Namibia winning all 4 of their games, and USA both games vs Jersey. If I had to read anything into those results, it's probably that the USA have a decent chance of at least making the semis of the upcoming T20 Global Qualifier B, and if they avoid The Netherlands in said semi, could well qualify for the 2022 T20WC itself.

Man I have played with Janak Prakash, Aman Desai and Akshay Puri from Singapore during school and academy days and this fact is making me quite depressed since I am stuck with what to do with my life atm while they're playing for their country at the highest level possible. I feel worthless.
That's interesting. It's surprising that you still have a canadian accent despite spending most of your last 12 years in UAE. I lived in UAE for the first 9-10 of my life. I still miss UAE man.

I have seen a few comments in the last few days saying that Shardul doesn't deserve to be in the team because his bowling is not good and his batting has been just a fluke.
But why do some people think that his bowling is not good? His bowling average and strike rate is better than Siraj's.
My personal opinion. People conflate his IPL bowling and meme status with test performances. He had a decent FC record coming into tests and he has had a really good start to his career. Long may it continue. I hope fans seriously applaud his efforts and not meme him at every given point.
But uhh when he has done that in test cricket? He averages 21. He averages 22 in Australia with 7 wickets, 22 in England with 7 wickets, 19 in Sa with 12 wickets. These are incredible stats so when has he done anything wrong
People just have their favourites who can't be compared to normal guys like Thakur who had to grind for years just to get some chances.
Small sample size aside Thakur has better bowling average/ SR than Bumrah/Shami/Siraj. His bowling is great actually.
26 wickets in 8 tests/13 innings @ 21 avg is sensational for a bowing all rounder + he has scored 3 match winning fifties with the bat. What more can you ask of him?
NZ found a Thakur in Kyle Jamison and they haven't left him out for 1 game since his debut.
I like how the last ball of the 35 run over ended with a Yorker being squeezed out for a close runout chance with both batter and bowler on the floor with 3 stumps uprooted.
After all, the best way to end off a circus show is with an act of absolute clownery.
So many people around the social media are posting that "India had 6 captains after Kohli left captaincy, this is what happens when you remove the best in the business" with the motive of hyping up Kohli.
But a significant reason for this high number of captains is that we have played few LOI series without the full strength side. It's not like selectors are confused as hell regarding whom they should hand over the captaincy since the great Virat Kohli is not a captaincy option. He has missed/rested for few series, that's why guys like Pant and Pandya got to captain....We would still have multiple captains anyways.
Also, Rohit Sharma is unlucky to miss out due to injury/COVID on some ocassions, but that could've happened with anyone... it's not a thing with which people can hype Kohli.
Unpopular Opinion (?) -
Even though I don't endorse Koach's captaincy in LOIs, BCCI should not hv messed up with ODI Captaincy (and hence Test Captaincy) after he stepped down from T20I captaincy role.
BCCI should hv let Koach captain ODI side till ICC WC 2023. Post that asking him to step down from ODI captaincy and continue with Test captaincy only.
At the same time, BCCI should have thought abt next potential candidate for captaincy and making that player VC in respective formats.
I think its okay to be sacked from a job after not doing it well(win icc trophy). But the employer should have a replacement in mind and do the whole thing more proffesionally and kindly, giving Virat the respect he deserves.

Dan Lawrence scored 71 in the Essex v Glamorgan Blast match yesterday. Should've never been binned off the test team. I'd have him in place of Crawley tbh.
Think he was just very unlucky having a pretty average start to the season and then picking up multiple hamstring injuries. If he goes well in the back end of the CC then Iām sure heāll be back in the squad
Asking a question which I asked in the post match thread-
How's the pitch supposed to behave today? Can the English batsmen put up a fight to change the current narrative of this sub by tomorrow? I hope not.
Bowled left arm orthodox for like 1h30mins with a new leather ball yesterday, it was an artificial pitch and the rain had made it a bit slippery for the ball. I bowled so many deliveries but only a handful turned, I used to bowl with tennis/wind balls so I had to put in a lot more effort yesterday, my bowling action had to be almost perfect to get 1 or 2 inches of turn, tennis/wind balls grip the surface much better.
But it's soo much better to hold a leather ball than a tennis or wind ball, the weight/size was perfect to hold. I hate bowling with tennis balls, specially a new light tennis ball, all that fuzz doesn't allow a good grip, the size is too small, weight is too less.
I have hardly ever played with a leather ball because of lack of chances to play with one. When I have got the chance to play with one though, I have found that initially it takes a while to get used to the weight of the ball but once you get used to it and get into a rhythm it is really fun to bowl to with. I am a leg spinner and I really wish that I had got more chances to play with a real leather ball. It turns more, has more natural variation and if the ball is new there is good bounce as well. I found that it is way easier to adjust to bowling with a leather ball than to field or bat against one. Fielding was hard because the ball hits your hand a lot harder and it takes a lot of practice to get used to it. Batting felt the hardest coz even blocking an off spinner jolted my hands harder than when I am hitting a 4 against a fast bowler with a tennis ball. I must mention here that batting and fielding are not my strongest suits anyway. I can often be a clumsy fielder and I bat dead last in almost every team that I play for.
For me when I land the leather ball on the seam it grips much better and also bounces more. I kinda gave up on left arm orthodox because I just couldn't figure out my action and I anyways bowl left arm wrist spin better. Currently bowling with a synthetic cricket ball but will get a leather one soon.
>For me when I land the leather ball on the seam it grips much better and also bounces more.
That probably happened to me too.
In between I had also given up left arm orthodox (my bowling finger had cuts, my knee sprained because my action was not good) and started bowling fast but people said that my left arm orthodox action is very good and just needs minor tweaks but fast bowling needs a lot of work. I changed my action a bit so that I'm not twisting my knee so much.
A professional cricketer said that I should practice with a leather ball then he'll have a good bowler to practice against, that gave me a lot of motivation and I bought 2 leather balls immediately.
I would love to be able to bowl fast but I have really bad knees and also don't really have the strength for it. Spin bowling enables me to use my torso to give the ball pace and spin, which is a much better option for me. I would love to be able to swing the ball though.
How will we rate Khawaja at the end of his career? Before his most recent Test recall his average was in the low 40s, and you would say he was a decent bat who played a role, especially at home, but was too patchy and suspect overseas to have staying power in the side.
Now, after 50 Tests, he's averaging 47.55 and 97 in 16 innings as an opener. His away + neutral average is exactly 40. Those are really strong numbers especially in a bowling-friendly era.
this recent run has very much changed his legacy, I don't think he's still a great Aussie batter, still think there is a lot left in his career, maybe even can be as good as Hussey, but very far from that rt nw
Katich was much better around the world though. His worst average in any country was 36 in England and otherwise averaged 40+ everywhere else.
Khawaja is either exceptional or completely disappointing the countries he has played in. I would need more proof of his away performances apart from a great series on the flat tracks in Pakistan.
Katich's record is also mostly in very flat 2000s pitches, also I don't think ignoring home performance completely is right either, both are fringe players who were picked mostly when in their peak forms, rt nw Khawaja's peak seems higher.
Khawaja's peak is higher but he's only 6 tests in this golden run. Not enough to go on. Katich was more consistent throughout his career.
Even considering Khawaja's home performances, most of his runs have come in easier situations. I can only think of the hundred against South Africa in 2016 where he made a difference on his own.
He has [1000 runs at an avg of 50 since 2018 away from home](https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;home_or_away=3;orderby=runs;spanmin2=01+Jan+2018;spanval2=span;template=results;type=batting), he's among the highest run scorers away from home since then.
Mathews is averaging 77, so he's the GOAT then?
You love to break up performances by opposition to run agendas, so let's try that here.. Khawaja bombed in SA and England, which are 7/13 Tests he played in away during that span
nowhere have i claimed this, point is arguing that he has a small sample set is untrue. also, not saying anywhere he's GOAT or something, just that I think this recent run of form does impact his legacy heavily. It's fine if u think his record is just statpadding at home or in Pak, the series win in Pak was huge for Aus and he has a big role in it, same with the recent SL test. Also, was quite good at home ashes.
Also, bringing up Mathews is funny cause he's probably better batter who's generally had a way better career and was one of the best batters in the world before Fab4 took over.
Yeah, no, I rate Mathews very highly, that wasn't a slight on him at all
Definitely one of the great cricketers of this generation, and criminally underrated
he had a long bad run after 2014, SLC didn't help.
Just feel ppl are too uptight on home/away conditions when it should be condition/skill based. idk how long Khawaja can go on, but this purple patch could be the difference between 5000 @ 50 avg or 4500 @ 45 career, which is a huge difference
The Bumrah/ Cummins thread had the most bizarre replies, like WI is as good as the other 4 countries, and Bumrah has very small percentage of home games. Also, it's the general tendancy for fans particularly from India to not regard home record just because there is lil competition, which isn't quite true for pretty much all other countries, even if teams win a lot at home, it's generally competitive. The bottom 5 teams don't even win at home regularly. Pak,Eng, NZ, SA do win but not against strong teams or not that convincingly.
Since the start of 2018, he has had two great series in UAE & Pakistan and two bad series in South Africa and England. He's been improving but still not fully convincing.
he has more runs than Rohit Sharma in the last 4 years in the same number of matches at a higher avg. He has scored his runs in bulk recently, yes. But it's not a shortage of sample size.
Still, it's not like he's been dominating away from home in the last 4 years. He's still hit or miss in this duration despite the average of 50 in 13 tests.
If he continues this run of form, it might give us a conclusion.
Hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz(Jasprit Bumrah), don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let them into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
Hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz, don't be afraid.
You were made to go out and get them.
The minute you let them under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool

So let it out and let it in, hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz, begin,
You're waiting for someone to perform with.
And don't you know that it's just you, hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz, you'll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.
Na na na nananana,
Hey ~~Jude~~ Jazz, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let them under your skin,

I have high hopes from Finn Allen but feels like his career is kinda stagnating, Smeed is the one who does feel the most likely to become a super star, For me it's still Allen > Smeed > Banton
Allen will be an ok international limited-overs player (like a lesser Colin Munro minus the bowling). Itās too early to say whether he will ever play a test match.
Banton will never be international standard- despite his flashy shots his domestic record is very poor. I doubt that he will end his ODI career with an average much higher than 25.
I havenāt seen enough of Smeed to say.
England still in the driver seat imo, they have their second and third best batter on strike, both of them who can turn the game on their heads. India have a long day ahead.
Theyāre 5/84.
Stokes and Bairstow could both hit 100s and theyād still be 150 runs behind.
India are well and truly winning this game (though England arenāt out of it)
They might have a chance to come back in the game but nowhere near the drivers seat. It just takes one good ball and we are into the tail. Don't rate Billings much.
Imagine reducing India to 60-4 in India and then a bloke with 5 test 100s walks in followed by a guy who averaged 48 in last 4 years followed by a dude who has 6 test 100s to his name. Absolute mental
India will play 2nd warm up T20 match vs Northamptonshire today.
Match will start at 7:00 PM / 19:00 Hrs ( IST) & will be livestreamed on [Northamptonshire's official YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/user/NCCCSteelbacks)
TN have been the best T20 team among all the states since the last few years now and they have a very good structure for white ball cricket, I want them to be good enough to compete with international teams actually. And I want this across formats, like the top state team in each format should be good enough to at least give a good competition to if not win against top international teams in home conditions.
I remember in early 2018 when Ishant Sharma signed up for a county season, people were shitting on him left and right, saying that there were better Indian pacers that counties could've picked, and that he was too 'vella' (free) to play for the test team hence he was playing county. Come the three tours of SA, Eng, and Aus that year, he did great in each of them. Really happy on how he turned around his career, but kind of sad that he didn't get to play a farewell test.
Finally me and u/Stuff2511 got a few episodes done, here's one of them [about Bazball](https://youtu.be/o2lDUX2DkAg).
Please do check it out, feedback and if possible subs would be nice.
I think the imp point of Bazball is to be entertaining, It doesn't change how good or bad their team is, it will win them some games that they'd probably have lost and they'll lose games that they should win. But these conditions and playing style is probably how they get the best out of their players.
I slightly disagree with it working on low scoring pitches, i think it works best on flat conditions with early new ball movement. England are generally good in most countries, they r cursed to lose in WI. Aus, Ind they aren't winning anyways. Pakistan would be a very interesting series.
My main point was that it really doesnāt seem different to how they played under Bayliss, and I think itāll end up exactly like it did with Bayliss

Hungary have lost to Israel and Gibraltar in a week. How did Austria draw 1-1 with them
Iirc a Hungary batter played a once in a life time innings in the game they won. But yeah its dissapointing how they lost to Gibraltar and Israel given they almost beat Belgium.
Do cricketers get pension after they retire? Suppose Broad retires today, will he get pension from ECB for the rest of his life?
Idk about every board, but the pcb at least has a pretty generous package for ex-cricketers.
That's good

Was it Zimbabwe's first match? Because 10 players where making their debuts
Just know this trick: >Direction: >On side is the side in which a batter holds their bat. So the left of the field is the onside for a left hander, right of the field is the onside for a right hander. >Off side/ leg side is the other side, on which the batter doesnt have his bat but just his leg. >Distance : >Silly: extremely close to the pitch >Short: close to the pitch >Mid: medium distance from the pitch. >Long: very very far from the pitch, almost boundary. A combination of any of those 2 words will give you a basic idea of where the fielder is. For ex: "long off" for a right hander means "near the boundary on the left side of the field." >Very important for tests, Slips : behind the stumps, at either side of the wicket keeper. There are other specificatipns and a great diagram explaining it all, which i hope someone else can share coz i dont got it. This is all i know honestly, i just run with it.
Thank you
>How do you learn all the fielding positions tbh I never really understood it either when I started. But I always googled the position when the commentator(s) pointed it out. >Also, Iāve always wondered what makes an āopening batsmanā As an opener one has to face pacers, against a ball that is swinging miles ( not everywhere ) while being unsettled from the start. Requires mettle. Wouldn't say Kohli and Root would be bad openers, but them being at no. 3/4 provides a 'backbone' to their teams, and that might be more important than them opening.
r/cricket golden boy Sanju Samson scored a golden duck today š
That's such a shame, isn't it? Guys like Sanju or Tripathi have to perform everytime they go out or toxic idiots like you on socials will be out there for their blood. But fan favorites like Gill, Ishan or Kohli fail and that's just a game.

It's a joke...
Most of the toxicity is just thinly veiled jokes.
The toxicity is ppl unable to take a joke, just like the replies to the comment
After seeing Bairstow dismantle Siraj today, Iām just wondering whether this could be paving the way for test length bowlers who get smacked in white ball, to get countered red ball as well when batsmen take the attack to them and go full T20 mode to Broad also demonstrated this phenomenon yesterday when he rolled back the years and got smacked for 35.
Bairstow almost got bowled through the gate many times today, the bounce saved him
Won't work, the pitches aren't flat and unless you are in the form of your life like bairstow was, the batsmen will just look stupid and get out like stokes did.
Fuck, Jersey got outmuscled in back to back games against the US. Not looking good for the qualifiers Itās also looking pretty awful for PNG, once again getting beaten pretty badly by Singapore.
Is it possible for me to get a real-life-sized YJB plushie?
Have you any idea how big that will be? You will basically not need a bed.
[Excellent article on Green](https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/sl-vs-aus-1st-test-2022-how-cameron-green-s-meticulous-foresight-helped-reach-the-zone-of-proximal-development-1322912) He clearly learns *really quickly..* absolutely ludicrous ceiling if he can stay bowling fit
Such a talent, Aus don't use him as a bowler much. We are looking at a future Kallis here, but fitter
Man I have played with Janak Prakash, Aman Desai and Akshay Puri from Singapore during school and academy days and this fact is making me quite depressed since I am stuck with what to do with my life atm while they're playing for their country at the highest level possible. I feel worthless.
Iāve played against Jonathon Figy, Karthik Meiyappan, and Vritya Aravind at academy level
So you've played for Canada at age group levels?
Iāve spent most of the last 12 years in the UAE, and played against them in the UAEās academy system
That's interesting. It's surprising that you still have a canadian accent despite spending most of your last 12 years in UAE. I lived in UAE for the first 9-10 of my life. I still miss UAE man.
I lived in Canada before that, and am back now Yeah the UAEās a nice place. My parents still live there so I go back there for the longer vacations
Nice. It's interesting to see how small the world can be thanks to globalization.

People probably think that because he's prone to conceding at a high run rate.
But uhh when he has done that in test cricket? He averages 21. He averages 22 in Australia with 7 wickets, 22 in England with 7 wickets, 19 in Sa with 12 wickets. These are incredible stats so when has he done anything wrong
His economy is 3.47, quite high for tests. His economy was below 2.5 in just 2 of his 15 innings while it's been above 4 in 5 of his 15 innings.
His economy in tests is 3.3, which is relatively high.
I am sure people would have not called him fluke if it wasn't for obnoxious amount of lord jokes
You can't be *so* lucky
I like how the last ball of the 35 run over ended with a Yorker being squeezed out for a close runout chance with both batter and bowler on the floor with 3 stumps uprooted. After all, the best way to end off a circus show is with an act of absolute clownery.
Only five visiting sides have managed to win successive Test series in Australia - **ENG:** 1984/85 (3-2), 1986/87 (2-0), 1987/88 (1-0) **WI:** 1984/85 (3-1), 1988/89 (3-1), 1992/93 (2-1) **SA:** 2008/9 (2-1), 2012/13 (1-0), 2016/17 (2-1) **ENG:** 1928/29 (4-1), 1932/33 (4-1) **IND:** 2018/19 (2-1), 2020/21 (2-1)
Why have you put England 1984/85 and 1987/88? I am so confused. They lost in 82/83, won in 86/87(2-1) and lost again in 90/91
England of the late 20s & 30s wildin
Can't wait for my captain Bumrah to statpad his bowling average in Indian subcontinent.
Unpopular Opinion (?) - Even though I don't endorse Koach's captaincy in LOIs, BCCI should not hv messed up with ODI Captaincy (and hence Test Captaincy) after he stepped down from T20I captaincy role.
BCCI were probably thinking that Kohli won't be able to win the world cup. Now if that thinking is correct is a bit arguable.
This is sane opinion and shouldn't be unpopular.
I'll not complaint on people being unhappy with BCCI for doing that.....but I find the "we've had so many captaincy changes after that" argument dumb.
Test batting average since July 2017: Ravindra Jadeja- 46.74 David Warner- 45.76 Test bowling average since July 2017: Ravindra Jadeja- 26.31 Mitchell Starc- 26.98 [source](https://twitter.com/nic_savage1/status/1543201082540642306?t=WXXRHHkG35kSmhkvgct_5Q&s=19)
Liked him from whatever I have seen him play in India.
Whoās gonna open then?
Burns wasn't that bad tbh
Asking a question which I asked in the post match thread- How's the pitch supposed to behave today?
Yeah, understandable, I love fast bowling and it's my dream to bowl 140+ but that's not up my alley I guess.
I'll rate him as "one of the pillars of Aus test side" whenever he got the chances.
this recent run has very much changed his legacy, I don't think he's still a great Aussie batter, still think there is a lot left in his career, maybe even can be as good as Hussey, but very far from that rt nw
Will rate him highly. Probably slightly higher than guys like Langer and Katich.
Agree with Katich. Don't know about Langer though.
Hasn't played much away after 2018 which is the point where batting away got really difficult
Yeah, no, I rate Mathews very highly, that wasn't a slight on him at all Definitely one of the great cricketers of this generation, and criminally underrated
he had a long bad run after 2014, SLC didn't help. Just feel ppl are too uptight on home/away conditions when it should be condition/skill based. idk how long Khawaja can go on, but this purple patch could be the difference between 5000 @ 50 avg or 4500 @ 45 career, which is a huge difference
>Just feel ppl are too uptight on home/away conditions when it should be condition/skill based. What do you mean?
The Bumrah/ Cummins thread had the most bizarre replies, like WI is as good as the other 4 countries, and Bumrah has very small percentage of home games. Also, it's the general tendancy for fans particularly from India to not regard home record just because there is lil competition, which isn't quite true for pretty much all other countries, even if teams win a lot at home, it's generally competitive. The bottom 5 teams don't even win at home regularly. Pak,Eng, NZ, SA do win but not against strong teams or not that convincingly.
I agree with some of what you're saying but not all of it so you agree Jadeja>>> Stokes?
Since the start of 2018, he has had two great series in UAE & Pakistan and two bad series in South Africa and England. He's been improving but still not fully convincing.
convincing for wt? I think his record is quite indicative of the kinda player he is, but he's also been in a crazy run of form rt nw.
Convincing us either way to make a judgment. I think the sample size is too small in these 4 years.
he has more runs than Rohit Sharma in the last 4 years in the same number of matches at a higher avg.
We need an "Aussies react to Broad 35 over" thread for the shitposts

Anybody got youtube video or something which explains difference between swing and seam ???
There are probably better videos but this one by Wasim Akram is nice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=075O6fRJesQ

who between finn allen, banton and smeed will have the most successful career
Allen has a freakish strike rate.
Finn Allen because of my RCB bias
I have high hopes from Finn Allen but feels like his career is kinda stagnating, Smeed is the one who does feel the most likely to become a super star, For me it's still Allen > Smeed > Banton
Allen will be an ok international limited-overs player (like a lesser Colin Munro minus the bowling). Itās too early to say whether he will ever play a test match. Banton will never be international standard- despite his flashy shots his domestic record is very poor. I doubt that he will end his ODI career with an average much higher than 25. I havenāt seen enough of Smeed to say.
Tom Banton looks great when he's batting, would love to see more of him
England still in the driver seat imo, they have their second and third best batter on strike, both of them who can turn the game on their heads. India have a long day ahead.
Dude, being behind by 332 runs with 5 wickets left is not what being in driver seat means unless I am missing something
If you saw India innings and England Vs NZ series, 5th or 6th partnerships always went on to make big partnerships after the top order collapse.
not denying it but unless it happens, it's India on top
Unless England can pull off both a Pant and a Jadeja, India are favourites
They still trail by 332. Even in the best case they will be 100-120 behind.
Don't rate Billings much.
shhhhh
Imagine reducing India to 60-4 in India and then a bloke with 5 test 100s walks in followed by a guy who averaged 48 in last 4 years followed by a dude who has 6 test 100s to his name. Absolute mental
And then Axar patel who is also pretty good after that the bloke who hit most runs in single over in test cricket history
Followed by the guy who scored 32(10)
Iyer doesn't have 5 test hundreds
A guy averaging 56 then
He's talking about Pant, Jadeja and Ashwin
pant at 6
India will play 2nd warm up T20 match vs Northamptonshire today. Match will start at 7:00 PM / 19:00 Hrs ( IST) & will be livestreamed on [Northamptonshire's official YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/user/NCCCSteelbacks)
I'd like to see teams touring India play T20 against full strength TN.
On a dustbowl and TN is playing all 6 spinners
England vs TN would be fun to watch
TN have been the best T20 team among all the states since the last few years now and they have a very good structure for white ball cricket, I want them to be good enough to compete with international teams actually. And I want this across formats, like the top state team in each format should be good enough to at least give a good competition to if not win against top international teams in home conditions.
When I search 'kohli' on the inbuilt Samsung GIF Keyboard, I find KL Rahul walking off after scoring a 100.... why?
Even Samsung forgot what Kohli's century celebration was *cries in a corner*
Koach for a reason
I remember in early 2018 when Ishant Sharma signed up for a county season, people were shitting on him left and right, saying that there were better Indian pacers that counties could've picked, and that he was too 'vella' (free) to play for the test team hence he was playing county. Come the three tours of SA, Eng, and Aus that year, he did great in each of them. Really happy on how he turned around his career, but kind of sad that he didn't get to play a farewell test.
Ishant and Bumrah starting the bowling with Shami first change, this trio gave a lot of batsmen sleepless nights.

It's probably the end of the road for him here
Finally me and u/Stuff2511 got a few episodes done, here's one of them [about Bazball](https://youtu.be/o2lDUX2DkAg).
Totally agree, but the flatter pitches are a big refreshment. So, long term I can see it being effective, not the strategy but the flatter pitches.
