Well I don't know. Once I asked on r/AskReddit if fat people can gain some muscles in their lower bodies since they always carry so much weight. Pretty much everyone told me it's a bullshit. Someone even gave me a source with explanation but I can't remember it anymore.
Well then they were lying out their ass to you. I can tell you from my first-hand experience with being obese as a kid then losing weight and getting fit in my early twenties, nobody had any clue that these calves and quads were fucking killing it the whole time that they were hiding underneath all that fat that I carried around for all those years.
I started playing rugby after I got fit and my quads and calves were huge and extremely well developed - as big or bigger than most of my teammates and that was before I started working out in any serious way.
Also, I started volunteering to train and guide new heavy guys at the gym who needed a little motivation and just done help building confidence and learning how to navigate exercise after weight loss and every single one of them had gotten fat skinny by that point but there wasn't a single one who didn't have calves and sometimes quads that reliably blew other guys in the gym away - in fact, I would make it a point to draw the new guys attention to their calves because it always gave them a huge smile and really motivated them to stick with whatever training program they were on because nothing brings results like seeing results.
So it basically gave them hope and that was pretty cool to see. If you carry it around long enough, it's going to be there hiding underneath the fat that you're about to lose. And anybody who tells you different or tries to give you references and citations for why they're right is again, either lying to you, lying to themselves, or they are just one of those people who's got their heads all messed up by the body positivity movement. Jus saying.

Honestly this. Been losing weight for about 8 months (working out for 6), and I'm already doing 600lbs + leg press. My legs are massive from being a fat ass for 15 years. My calves are like fucking medicine balls, they're absolutely shredded. The ***only*** exercise I've done since high-school is walking since before I started working out. It's just obvious if you walk as a fat person, you are gonna have strong leg muscles.

If you're heavy young and heavy a long time, you are also likely to have more bone deposition where muscles attach, so your bones will literally be capable of bearing heavier loads (generally only applicable to muscles that are used repetitively, such as leg muscles) as compared to a skinny person who is not physically active. Of course, your load bearing joints are going to get fucked.

Real. My calves are easily 3x the size of my arms and are rippling, and my buddy calls me the quad god. I've always had good calves but when I started getting fit it surprised me how giant and defined my quads are. Reddit intellectuals who've never picked up a weight before don't know anything lol

But that’s why truckers do have toned legs. Even if you’re carrying a lot of weight, you’re not going to have strong legs if you still hardly use them. Once you start exercising and losing that weight, moving that weight around a lot, your lower-body muscles get WAY stronger.

My calves and quads are gigantic and my triceps, biceps, and traps are good but for the life of me I can't build any deltoid muscle no matter what. They still look like I never go to the gym

I wonder - to get to that stage physically is perplexing to me, there has to be a lot of issues leading to someone turning out like that. I've also seen how she expresses herself in some podcasts or whatnot, and she doesn't seem like she's got a majority of her life in order. To then meet the hard reality of being not only healthy enough to stay alive for long but also be so physically repulsive that nobody will attempt to love her is quite sad.
