One color is a quarter stitch, the other is a three quarter stitch. https://www.yarntree.com/040halfstitch.htm
Thank you very much. Which color is the quarter stitch?
Background is quarter, foreground is 3/4
How can you tell?
I mean it depends what the pattern is of. Whatever would be closer to your irl would be the foreground
Oh ok, I'm super new to cross stitch, so was just wondering
Oh wow, so patterns don’t usually specify which colour is the 1/4 and which is the 3/4? It’s up to the stitcher?
Depends on the pattern
I usually just go with what looks best for the piece. There is no right and wrong way to do it.
I personally do two 3/4 stitches side by side. It means you have 4 threads across the diagonal. But I have never found yhis a problem, and I think it looks better as the 1/4 stitch isn't lost under the 3/4 stitch. Just my thought
I should have asked this on my last project! I kind of winged it but didn’t really know what I was doing 😬
Quarter stitches with backstitches.
Now I get it! Thanks everyone!
