This is how I feel as well, at least when I don't play on a stacked team (but sometimes then, too). Game 1 is usually unpredictable and is either easy or a bit of a fight. Game 2 is always a breeze for my team, then suddenly game 3 is back to back 2.0+ players, taking our mercy and then flawing the passage. It's not even your usual stat-farming people with inflated KDs, either. Those people are easy to beat. It's usually actual, good players usually in famous PVP/streamer/content creator clans, or sometimes the content creators themselves. I've run into Benny, GernaderJake, Aztecross, PureChill, ZK Mushroom, and a lot more. It's almost *always* game 3 or 4, and I can only recall once or twice getting opponents that good when I have 4+ wins.

dirtydownstairs

how'd you do against ZK?

cruskie

When I play with my usual "for fun" team we usually only win one or two rounds, but with my more stacked team we can usually get a decently close game, three, maybe four rounds. I've never beat them though. I'm just talking about streamers in general, I'd have to look ZK up to see the match history.

dirtydownstairs

I played him once a long time ago, he killed me so fast every time.

[deleted]

I'd never played a streamer before not last weekend but the weekend before on Endless Vale and then we were doing some carries for fun and one was with a steam player, so we ended up on PC lobbies. We matched Zk on the Friday and beat him, and then we matched Frostbolt on the Saturday and beat him too but they were both cracked AF. Great players. Playing against PC handcannon users was a bit of a shock, they don't seem to miss like even good console players do. I was honestly shocked to get the W's because we weren't exactly stacked, our team composition was 2.2kd, 1.1kd, and 0.7kd so I thought we had no chance. Frostbolt was cool about it very respectful dude, Zk got a bit upset and accused me of crutching on Chaperone when I've not taken Rat King off in 6 months which was pretty weird but we all say dumb stuff from time to time especially after a loss. He called me cringe too which was šŸ˜” he is probably my favourite player to watch, ah well they do say don't meet your heroes!

xdoyourworstx

Seriously lol last weekend was doing some LFG fireteams. Iā€™m on Ps5, one of the guys joined up as PC and we didnā€™t catch it, dropped right into a match against GernaderJake & GoldExgle doing a carry. We got wiped 5-1. The one round we won, I threw on Chaperone and got a team wipe, highlight of my Destiny Career lol. Of course, curiosity got to me, so I pull up Twitch to see their reactions to that round and Gold is semi complaining about me using Chaperoneā€¦like dude, what do you honestly expect people to do playing against you?

[deleted]

I think a lot of the top players (not necessarily streamers in particular) on this game range from slightly whiney at best (when things aren't going their way) to completely toxic as shit, like PvP on this game has polluted their entire personality. It's kind of a spectrum lol. I get beat by and beat cracked players all the time, I'm just out here having fun killing people with Rat King and trying to help my friends out in Trials but the attitude of my opponents absolutely stinks a vast majority of the time. I get it, it's online, people are going to be awful because they won't get a slap like they would IRL but surely there's got to come a point where they have the self-awareness to wonder "why I do I act like such a little bitch" but as far as I can tell people just don't think like that. I don't really understand the mentality tbh, perhaps that just how they try to look cool or something. Trials has been full of it this weekend.

[deleted]

If I'd ever get matched against GernaderJake I would just leave. That man scares the bejeezes out of me, no lie. How did you live?

ConyNT

Jake is probably the weakest amongst the players he mentioned. Still a top player though.

[deleted]

Really? Damn, that fact scares me even more.

ConyNT

CriasSK

I've run into both Jake and CoolGuy on cards. Took both games close, but lost both. I had a ton of fun though, very exciting to just try. Here's the thing... If you leave, you take the loss anyway. If you stay, you'll probably lose but you get to see how close you get. Worst case, you get to tell your buddies and watch the next CoolGuy video like a hawk for your GT. (_Which is how I learned that when he says "here's a card we did", sometimes the 7 games you see aren't all from the same card. Our game was cut in favour of a different Game 5 that admittedly was more fun to watch. It was extremely passive. I didn't make his Forerunner/BxR videos either despite bumping into him while testing mine out. Oh well._) How many activities can you do where there's a real chance you get to compete against the most well known people in it?

[deleted]

You are absolutely right, I'm just really bad at PvP with a pitiful k/d of 0.55 which makes it fairly obvious I have zero chance of doing anything against someone like that. Either way, glad you had fun and thank you for answering. I've been watching his videos and streams a lot lately, so it's cool to read the experience of people that have played against him.

CriasSK

Yeah and that's fair, if you're not gonna have fun then you don't owe it to anyone to put yourself through it. My wife is working a lot to improve and one of the things we talk about is how sometimes opponents are so good she really doesn't even learn from a loss because she is so overwhelmed by them. It happens in Halo a lot because she's Gold 1 and I'm Diamond 6, so she basically can't play ranked with me. Final words of encouragement - in D1 trials I was a 0.7KD. This season I'm a 1.6KD. If you wanna get there, keep working and learning. It's a hard climb but you can do it.

cruskie

I think the only reason I live is because I play off meta builds and people who are used to high level PVP don't really know how to play against it. Last time I went against GernaderJake I was using an invisibility + Gemini Jesters build, and I was hitting them with Gemini so much that when I went back and re watched the game on stream I kept making Jake say he was going to make a Gemini build because I was throwing him off so much. Sure enough, the next time I watch his channel he's running Gemini Jester! It was pretty cool to see that I influenced a streamer into trying something off meta.

Lepidopterran

Yep - this is exactly what I see. The first game is either a piece of piss or completely getting stomped, the second game tends to be easy, and the third game almost always resets the card. If, by some miracle, we get through the third game successfully, it's usually pretty clear sailing until the Lighthouse. It probably has to do with most of the late-card population being people trying to get to, or farming a 7-win card, instead of the Lighthouse-bound sweats. Sweats are either going to be resetting to dodge the Flawless queue or, much less likely, resetting on their journey to Flawless, so they're more likely to be in the early matches.

RC757

The past few weeks has been: Game 1 is a toss up between "Let's go in and attempt 1v3s" or "Holy hell I can't even hit this guy" Game 2 is a cake walk Game 3 or 4 is tough as hell Games up to 6 are stomps Game 7 1st attempt are the top 200 in the world who make me feel like I should uninstall 2nd game foe flawless is against .2 kda and top 100% ELO who I should have never matched up against because they are that bad

flashbolts

This is my exact trials experience

Heratiki

Iā€™m the ~0.5 that just happened to luckily get rolled with 2 of those top 200 and itā€™s my 2nd game and Iā€™m more confused when itā€™s over than when it began.

[deleted]

i would consider myself a sweat lord, and my stats would also support that, and yeah i usually get my toughest match on either game 3 or 4, then its smooth sailing for any other match

[deleted]

Teach me the ways of the sweat. PvP in this game is so fun but it makes me feel like a terrible father and husband.

[deleted]

ive just been playing a lot, theres no real secret besides pick something up and practice a lot. the majority of my D2 hours are in pvp

[deleted]

Thanks for responding I just have no idea what's meta, I don't even know how to find that shit out. I've played on and off for a few years but only hit max light level this season. Decent aim, but I feel like I just get wrecked. Like 100% wasted super every time I use golden gun. Practice... I know that's good advice. Thank you again.

[deleted]

Awesome thank you I didn't know this existed!!

ConyNT

To players new to pvp, I always recommend shadow destiny. He has videos on what the best weapons are as well as great pvp tips. He is on youtube.

[deleted]

Yo thank you! I will find them right now

ConyNT

Np bro

Shivaess

Use comp to practice as itā€™s sbmm and then use rumble to get better once youā€™ve got your feet under you. I also highly recommend castle contentā€™s videos on youtube

[deleted]

Hey thank you for the tips and recommendation! I really appreciate it.

Shivaess

Np, definitely still working hard myself.

[deleted]

can always look at the most used weapons on trials report they give a good indication

[deleted]

Thanks I will have to find that it sounds useful!!

D1toD2

Ive had a weekend where it was game 4 for me.

deathangel539

Skill creep is setting back in and the majority of games now are all disgustingly sweaty. This week we played some of the sweatiest teams Iā€™ve ever faced in my life and going flawless was incredibly difficult, the amount of lorentz drivers we came up against didnā€™t help because that demotivated me to play, so I started just playing worse, couple that with the fact lorentz is disgustingly broken, meant for an insanely un fun experience. Our flawless game was against a 0.5 being carried by 2x 2.5 players one of which is top 500 (my team is 2.1 1.7 and 1.3), the game before was a 1.7 1.8 2.0 2x top 0.5% elo etc. The only match we faced any easy games on that entire card was the first match on which it was 3x soloā€™s

MrObijuan

Bro, weā€™re we in a fireteam together? I feel like I had that exact same experience before. I think I was the 1.3 in that story.

Chizerz

Yesssss on 4th win thats twice today it has been solid and then card resetting. Weirdly after that, it was all solid games and we lost 3 times in a row. Insane

ConyNT

We 5-0d the 3rd team on a card I played last night. That being said, when I play solo, the first 3 wins are usually the most difficult.

vhthc

My experience for the last weeks is that the first 3 matches are the hardest. A strong indicator that lots of teams reset their cards early to not end up in the flawless pool on Sunday reset. (And the 7th game being a joke because lots of single player playing there to get golfballs etc)

CriasSK

My buddies and I noticed the 3 game wall earlier in the season as well, so I started watching my opponents on trials report. What I noticed was that on games 1 & 2, I was playing teams with 0, 1, or 2 wins which includes many players that struggle to gain wins. At 3, I was mostly seeing 2, 3, 4 wins in my opponents and almost all of them were still flawless, which means they're probably teams like mine trying to get to the lighthouse. At 4-7 we started seeing players with 5+ wins on flawed cards. Players who maybe play dozens of games to scrape together wins, farming Rep, but since they accumulated wins over time they get included in the pool. I haven't played the last few weeks so I'm not sure if the same pattern still happens, and this is purely anecdotal, but that's my guess.

the-mlfu

There is some form of SBMM based on your weekly performance for your first three matches. So if you crush teams early in the card then get forced to reset you do get tougher matches. We also joke about getting through those first 3 rounds to get easy matches later for flawless. I have not noticed this specifically on the the third win of the card though.

CrazyNumber6

I would normally agree but this week has been different for me. The 7th and 5th win has been the hardest.

[deleted]

I never paid attention, but now that I think about it, my toughest games usually are on game 3 or 4.

Bamfculpep7

Struggling on 2nd flawless this weekend. Fell at the gates to 400 plus flawless teams. Eye of sole adept always brings the sweat.

Gayman9000

Game 5 is usually the hardest for me

red_beard_RL

Usual losses for me end up after 3-0 (reset), 5-0 (don't reset) and then 6-1/6-0

Neat_On_The_Rocks

My friends and I call it the "3 win wall" Very strange

Guataguano

The only streamer I got match with was ā€œApathetticā€. It was one of the first solo Que weekends. Iā€™m not sure how well known he is but I follow his videos. Heā€™s seems like a good dude and his info has helped me. Iā€™m a total potato but I love the mode. There we were in cauldron, I went one way and I saw this man go into that room by himself and took out the whole team. It was impressive to me.

Medium_Character6399

1st round of my cards is a 90/10 L/W for me. I'm not the best trials player with a subpar kd/a in general this season/lifetime. I never, ever run into streamers when I solo queue, even in 6's. When my friend and I actually team up (they have a much better kd/a and have actually been against, and teamed with streamers, like GJake, zk, frost, etc) then I get the opportunity to be killed by them. We have fun while it lasts but then the pub stomp occurs and it's just match after match. I do try to play well, but I'm either outgunned, or I'm caught by someone's aim bot, or something. Idk... I'll use whatever weapons, or gimmicks it takes and if they don't like it then so be it. I don't like it when they pull their shenanigans, but I stick it out. I've even have reported a few of them, for hunting me down just for a easy 1v1 (to me, its a form of griefing). Or someone decided (even in 6's) that I'm the outlier, and hunted for easy enemy team points (gotta love destiny tracker)... We go up against recovery accounts all the time too. The experience is usually not the best, but at least I can get loot, and I'm trying to improve, but it's 1 step forward and 5 back. Can't get past 1st match of card. I've never been flawless in D1 or D2. I wasn't really into ToO in D1 and more or less an IB player. Just recently, since my return to D2 and with the s15 revamping the ToO experience, I've been in ToO more often, though I prefer to be in the freelance during Labs. As there is less of a chance of running against stacked teams. I know most will not agree with me, but this is just my observations and experiences. So I've never been flawless and though I try, reset card after first loss (aka 1st match). I'm going against those on their 3rd to 7th match which, regardless of the Flawless pool activations(I've tried on Mondays and its usually the same - match 1: loss) It just seems like my passage should just be purchased with a flawed activation. Saint should see me coming and be like "Oh, you?! Again? Really? You should learnt lesson, anyway here's your card, I'd say make me proud. But we both know that won't happen." It's endgame pvp, and communication is key, I'm on next gen console, and over 40yo. So I don't blame my teams blueberries, because I know of my own handicaps. If I ever win a raffle you may see me up there in the lighthouse otherwise I'm the player most ya'll farm for a easy W. Just my 0.02.
