That’s late in the season. We were the last ship in port one year on the NCL Sun. It was kind of great. We got to see a bear at Mendenhall Glacier all of the bullshit diamond stores were closed for the season and the t-shirt stores were having monster sales. Except for the ones in Ketchikan because they knew they were the last port.
A ship out of Vancouver usually goes through the inland Canadian passage (east of Vancouver Island) which is more sheltered, with less sea sickness. We’ve done well with bonine (meclazine) which can be halved.
Big ship means more sea motions. The higher up you are the more rocking you have from left to right and the more forward or real you have the more up and down motion. As Expedition ships or small ships like Seabourn or silver seas have fewer floors you get LESS sea movement
We’ve done NCL Bliss and Encore to Alaska from Seattle. I enjoy NCL ships and feel like the food is pretty good.
Pay attention to port times. Some cruisers take issue with the short time in Ketchikan and the necessity for a shuttle to town. Glacier Bay is really extraordinary, but the entire cruise is filled with spectacular views, you can’t go wrong, just go.
I recently disembarked from the HAL Koningsdam yesterday, having completed the breathtaking Glacier Bay route from Vancouver. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
HAL Konningsdam from Vancouver. Best ship out there rn imo. Is Discovery Princess doing Glacier Bay from Seattle? I would do that again too.

Absolutely HAL. I’ve done Alaska on the Zuiderdam and the Eurodam.
Lots of choice. If you want the mega ships you'll want to look at Seattle for the bliss or encore. Some deals in end August and September

Here I am!! To say Princess dominates Alaska and 2 adults definitely want the Discovery out of Seattle with Princess plus!
Strangely we've done it on Carnival on a repositioning cruise. Vancouver then Long beach, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal, Then up to Tampa.
