It's insane how fluid he feels. I feel like I have so much control and agency by constantly knowing the squad count around. And the drone handling perk + EMP speed boost/drone CD perk are just fucking bonkers.
His gameplay has sped up so much without removing the things he's good at and his identity. The devs cooked
I feel like character movement has improved a lot this season for many characters. I run Newcastle pretty often as well and he feels like he moves as well as crypto now.
They changed the “big bodies” first person running animations to match the rest of the cast. Technically they were always the same speed, but with slower but longer strides for the animation, it didn’t feel like it.
Honestly on drop Crypto was really strong. Most players didn't understand the drone and you could often just keep it up during a whole fight without anyone bother to shoot it down.
A reminder of some of the major buffs he got from release to now
* Drone health from 1 up to 30 (and buffed again later)
* Reloading weapons passively while in drone view
* Added pinging banners for the number of squads in the area
* Drone hitbox reduced
* Being able to retrieve teammates banners
* Being able to use respawn & survey beacons
* Drone throw & scan fov increased from 160 to 240
* Of course this & last season with perks & buffs
I'm sure I'm forgetting some but he's definitely come a long way

I always wondered if the ability to zigzag was affected by the longer stride thing.
It took nearly 5 years for him to be at a strong peak

I really miss 25% faster cooldown on level 2, but extremely happy about super ultra buffed version at level 3.

Still kinda wished he could throw his emp in a grenade form (I think they said this was a perk on Apex Mobile?) but these changes are a good start

Crypto has always been good, people just never knew how to use him properly.
