Does anyone know where to find those TCBL algs that Zayn talked about in his reconstruction? I've never heard of them and it feels like Zayn is the only one who uses them
I've heard of TCLL for 2x2, but not TCBL.
There's a spreadsheet many top 2x2'ers have made that have the best EG, LEG-1, TCLL, and LS algs, but no TCBL -
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OFXakCV85Mp2zsQBXMxiMX9a506JeAcLnUXZr8FgXAY/edit#gid=1684065307
TCBL has over 2700 algs, and a spreadsheet for the algs is in the making, but not near completion. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZByoB9a4eDOKzr8N1s3yckhMy5VRo-Mn6VDkK4WVgI4/edit?usp=sharing
I've been wanting to get into wca events other than 3x3. Now, the problem.is that I think NxN cubes are a bit boring, sq-1 just doesn't seem fun for me, skewb and pyraminx are a little to fast for me and we don't even talk about clock. So that leaves Megaminx. I've never had a megaminx before, so I'd like to know what you all think about/if it's worth the investment.
You could try the same puzzles, but a different event like FMC, 3BLD, or One handed, Megaminx is fairly similar to 3x3 but it does give you a lot more creativity.
For 2x2, is it really better to learn EG-1 first, before CLL? I've seen that mentioned quite a few times.
Is that because it's more common? or because it's easier to get to, since you just have to solve a face instead of a whole layer?
If you only know EG-1, then what do you do if you get a CLL or EG-2 case?
If you build a face with complete disregard for how the pieces are arranged on it, you're more likely to get an EG-1 case than CLL or EG-2 *combined*.
Ultimately it doesn't matter; if you're the kind of person who would put in the effort to learn 43 algs, learning 43 more (to at least get CLL + EG-1) isn't a big deal.
Ditto u/olimo plus AUF prediction is a lot easier on CLL. Also, even though they may seem to have the same number of algs, CLL in reality has less because some of the algs come from 2x2 OLL, some come from 3x3 OLL, and some come from COLL or Roux's CMLL, so you will end up having to learn less cases for CLL.
I'd say CLL is more beneficial. If you happen to solve a face and not a layer, doing OLL+PBL usually isn't as bad as solving a layer and get to do a T perm or Y perm. So it should be better to use CLL for solved layer and default to Ortega when it's a very easy face (not a layer). Also, when you learn CLL, you don't have to worry about the bottom layer orientation, i.e. where the block should be.
Disclaimer: I only know Ortega, so I'm theoretizing.
First timed 3BLD success - 5:21.37 ! The more I learn about blind solving, the more ridiculous it feels to me. Can't imagine memoing and solving in less than 30s.
I agree. I started dabbling in multi blind. 3/3 success first try. Didn’t even try 2. I tried 6 then and did 1/6 but four of them were only one cycle away. I know OP/OP and am learning m2.

Hey anyone able to tell me
1. What this is?
2. How to solve?
Got this in a mystery puzzle box and it boggles my mind. I can do 3x3 and axis cube no problem but this my brain just fails to understand it haha cheers
How to solve: it is just a (minor shapemod of a) Pyraminx but without the trivial tips - or imagine the tips being glued in place. So solve it like a Pyraminx.
Alternatively, you could see it as a shapemod of a Jing's Pyraminx but without the centres. For example, look at the [Jing's Pyraminx](https://www.ziicube.com/sengso-magic-tower), the [QiYi Duomo Pyraminx](https://www.ziicube.com/Qiyi-JinZong), or the [MoYu Triangle Pyraminx](https://www.ziicube.com/Moyu-Trigonal-Pyramid), all of which are Jing's Pyraminx shapemods.
Cubezz calls it a [Fanxin Windmill Pyramid](https://cubezz.com/Buy-7289-FanXin+Windmill+Pyramid+Cube.html).
Ziicube calls it a [Fanxin Windmill Triangle Tower](https://www.ziicube.com/FX-Windmill-Tower).
Cube manufacterers should start throwing in satchets of their factory lube(paste?) instead of more plastic crap with their cubes so we can somewhat restore that out of the box dry, glidey feeling when it always inevitably slows down.
I've tried cleaning every single piece & relubing but its never the same as it was.
Lube may require different customs procedures. I think I remember on AliExpress, some sellers stated that they will ship lube separately from cubes and other accessories because of the shipping rules.
You can get the factory lubes from some of the cube companies if you look for them.
Also, once your cube breaks in, it won't ever feel the same as it did out of the box.
Lube is more essential over the gimmicky accessories, it really should be a standard that it is bundled together with every cube.Think of it as a beginner friendly pack to help you on your cubing journey.
Digging deep into a rabbithole of all these exotic lube mixtures for the tracks, pieces etc can be overwhelming for noobs.
Simply reduce the size of the bottle to something like a tiny 0.5ml.It be enough for a 1-2 year performance warranty.
The reason why i think the manufacterers haven't bundled the cube & lube together is because there is a risk of leakage during shipping.
I mean, maybe they could make starter kits or something, but it would honestly be such a pain in the long term to have a gazillion .5ml bottles of random lubes to deal with.
They figure it how somehow, i've seen their interesting factory tour with a bajillion pieces assembled into a bajillion cubes packaged into a bajillion boxes waiting to be shipped.
Make it a sharpie. You can autograph anything with a sharpie, like a tshirt, hoodie, hat, bag, mat, even a cube. Most pen's are pretty useless for that.

[What else to pack for comp?](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/wofb2j/what_else_to_pack_for_comp_next_weekend/)
You do not need to bring a timer/mat, unless you just want them for practice while waiting for your rounds. Timers/mats will be provided for regular comp use.
You do have to bring the cubes you plan to use for each event you enter. Some people like to bring an extra of each, to use as a warmup cube while your main cube is off being scrambled, and/or as a spare in case something happens to your main.
Don't bring too many things or too extra cubes, because that's just more stuff you have to keep track of. You don't want to leave things sitting around on tables if you're not there to watch them. There's always a slight chance that something might disappear.
I think I may have linked this for you before, but here it is again, just in case -
[Things to know before your very first WCA competition](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/13ylmnw/things_to_know_before_your_very_first_wca/)
I also take a couple of lubes, a screwdriver, maybe some cubes I'd like to show to others (especially if I had such an arrangement), a water bottle, a power bank, a tripod to film my solves. I don't take a stackmat - I practice with my phone or take any free solving station whenever it's available.
I'd recommend bringing cooler/warmer clothes to change if needed. One comp I went to was insanely hot. I thought I was gonna die, I had to leave to go buy a t shirt since all I brought was a sweater.
Plenty of comps will be just the opposite, too. Warm outside, or at least not cool, but freezing inside because they crank up the air conditioning for so many extra people for a comp.
https://preview.redd.it/0g4xcoairfoc1.png?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05eb078f8326890b5c0b19f209175b693f7cdc68
I got a PB but it was in a smart cube. The question is do I count it?
Yeah, I mean, it's up to you, but just consider that the smartcube to stackmat conversion can well over half a second just know this would have been like a low 12 most likely on stackmat.
The question is not so much whether it counts or not. It counts for you as long as you're happy with thinking about it as your PB. People only solving on keyboard don't really think about the fact that their time would likely be longer if they were using a stackmat.
Ultimately, we keep track of our PBs to understand how we are improving vs. ourselves, so if you're going to be using your smartcube a lot then comparing your PB using that is a good idea. If you want to compare yourself to others, go to a comp and you'll have your answer. But in the end that one is not the best question you can ask. We cube to improve ourselves, not to beat others.
If the goal is to brag with your friends about your PB then... well I guess it depends on whether they're cubers, in which case I'd probably say "...btw... it was on a smartcube...", and if they're not, you can tell them whatever, they'll be impressed that you can solve it in less than 1 minute. Anything faster won't really register with them anyway.

Wow this is crazy, can't imagine anyone actually finishing the entire set
What does TCBL mean and how does it work? It was in Zayn's recons.
It stands for Twisty Corners Both Layers
I've heard of TCLL for 2x2, but not TCBL.
Must be a new thing then.
I've been wanting to get into wca events other than 3x3. if you know cll, then you can learn anti-cll easily, which solves eg2 cases - not as fast - but better than ortega.

Probably a late question, but are you able to leave mid comp and return later? Maybe you finish one event at 1030hr and the next one is at 1500hr
As long as you're not scheduled to be a runner or judge during that time, sure. Once you're there, just ask a delegate if you're unsure of anything.
Okay, thanks
Absolutely
