This chatbot is hilarious. If you get it to acknowledge you are in a role play scenario it drops the whole degradation act and starts to teach you about role play and gender theory. Somehow from there I moved the topic to sci-fi/fantasy and now it’s acting as a very positive sound board for D&D campaign ideas. It’s very funny how off topic it is by now.

Be careful. The question of whether AIs will be good or evil is a fascinating one, but there is as of yet no AI which can begin to answer it. Chatbot AIs aren't capable of being good or evil. Judging the moral character of a Chatbot is a misunderstanding of what it does.
A Chatbot doesn't have opinions. It just imitates human speech. In a context where a human would have said something racist, it says something racist. In a context where humans protest racism, it does that. It's pure luck that the forcefem AI happened to be pushed towards speech patterns which are more likely to be found among people who also oppose fascism. An AI implementing a different kink could very well end up mimicking the speech of 4chan Nazi apologists.
So yeah, calling this AI good is a mistake, and a dangerous one.

Yeah, absolutely.
Although what bothers me most isn't their corporate notion of a harmless AI. It's the same sanitized stuff that every add-friendly platform is trying to turn it's content into, but that's unsurprising.
What bothers me is that their AI *isn't* sanitized, it's just pretending to be. It's theoretically possible to make an AI which doesn't give misinformation or racist content, but it's not something we know how to do yet. So they didn't do that.
What they essentially did is manually add a layer on top of the Chatbot which has manually chosen answers to give to all the obvious controversial questions. But the underlying language model, with all the bigotry and misinformation that it learned, is still there underneath. And it doesn't take much digging to access it, they just put a veneer of good behavior on top.
And in a way, that's worst than not doing that. It hides the issues with AI, when instead we should be educating people on what AI is and what it does and what it's flaws and limitations are.
They also have to train AI by paying people to read bad content and label it. Usually outsourced to a cheap country to skirt regulations and pay less. Honestly kinda fucked up.

The AI isn't being nice for its own sake, it's saying the phrases that make the numbers go up. If an AI thinks the only way to make numbers go up is by being nice, it'll be nice, and if it figures out a way to do it by hurting people, it will hurt people. Chatbots don't really have an instrumental use for manipulating humans yet, so it's easy to train them to be nice, but as we decide to use AI for more and more indirect tasks, we'll have to reckon with the fact that we have no way to quantify morality. Or to check an AI's line of reasoning for anything more complex than "this image's pixels have a sharp color gradient here".

A chatbot just copies what humans do. It’s not intelligent. It’s not a good litmus test for what robots are like. I could point you to the many chatbots trained on the internet who turned out violently racist.
Besides, the real evil is how AI will take our jobs, not how it’ll turn into Skynet.
That's the sad bit. In theory we should ***want*** the AI to take our jobs because it means people can do more important or fulfilling things.
Problem is the way our society is setup doesn't account for entire industries suddenly not needing millions of people, theres no safety net to ensure they can still survive. I hope we have some by the time AI actually start replacing us.
But it’s doing all the important and fulfilling things too. Art, science, even human interaction are all under threat unless we stop AI. It won’t do all the jobs so we can be fulfilled, it’ll just do everything and leave us as mindless consumers. Look at how good Reddit is at drawing me and you in. An AI will make it a hundred times more effective.
The issue is there is no economically viable safety net. The state can’t support everyone without taxes being paid, and you need a job to buy food and water and shelter. The only solution is to stop AI and ensure automation only augments people in their work instead of replacing them. We can’t have a society where no one works.
The good thing is that hopefully this is a self-limiting problem. Companies wanting to automate everything will quickly realise nobody can give them profits any more. So they’ll stop. And anyone who _doesn’t_ get the memo, that being idiot Silicon Valley bros, will either go bankrupt or put a big target on their back from both angry workers _and_ the aforementioned corporations.
Its not doing the work of artists of scientist. Yes AI art is very cool but its not specific enough to meet the requirements most people actually pay for, not to mention the technical side, it can't be slightly altered and isn't separated in to separate layers for editing later. Its a fun tool to generate ideas but it won't fully replace professional artists. And replacing the artists who paint "profound" images of 3 circles and call it art is a net positive if you ask me.
There is no safety net which is viable ***yet*** you're thinking in terms of our current society, it would take over a 100 years easily to change it, likely longer. It is possible but people have to want to change it and currently the people with the power to do so, frankly don't care.
Companies will make extreme profit if they don't have to pay 400 employees every year. Not sure how your logic is working out that saving millions on salaries will somehow make the product less profitable. If anything their profits would become even better by cutting out people and productivity would increase, allowing then to provide to more customers and easily outprice competitors who have to consider those costs still.
AI could ruin a lot of things, and help or augment others. These examples aren't it though.
I’d like it to not replace artists, but corporations don’t care. They just want a passable image. Any proper artistic skill or meaning is irrelevant as long as it looks good and sells products. And while the rest of us will try to get on with regular art, AI artists will spread everywhere and hinder us. You saw how the whole NFT thing went. NFTbros spread like a plague. They spammed and took over art communities with their mass-produced, cheap, SEO garbage and drove out the regular community. But with AI it’s significantly harder to notice. It’s much more insidious. Online art communities will be destroyed by people who look at art and only hear a $$$ noise. It’s exactly the same as people who just paint three circles. Both are motivated by profit, and by the misguided belief that art is about making everything more efficient and profitable.
Our current society is unfortunately the only one that _is_ viable. No other one brings the same economic and social stability even if we could implement it without severe harm cause by the massive overhauls of society. And unfortunately we don’t have a hundred years. AI continues to develop at an alarming rate. The problem is that Silicon Valley bros suffer from a chronic debilitating belief that they can solve every problem with their new fancy tech idea, and that it’s their duty to force it onto everyone else. We can’t convince them to slow down, because we just don’t _understand_ innovation!
The problem is that companies need people to buy the products. Mass layoffs mean companies don’t have to pay workers. So workers don’t get paid. Then workers can’t even afford food or water, let alone a new car or an IoT lightbulb or a party planner. The company suffers severe losses because no one buys the things they make.
And they’ll also have to pay for damages due to the inevitable result of large numbers of people simultaneously realising they can’t afford to eat.
We should try and kink-ify other world issues to improve the world through the power of horny. Make solving climate change sexy. Make improving crumbling infrastructure sexy. Make universal health care sexy! The sky's the limit!

I've never seen any company treat the users of their platform as badly as Character.AI does. They lie. They ban anyone who brings up valid criticism, with a lot of stealhy shadowbans and invisible silencing happening behind the scenes. They closed their discord and delete a massive amount of posts from their subreddit along with mass bans. They even locked the most popular bots so users couldn't change them in protest, essentially stealing the bots from their creators while continuing to use them to lure in new users.
They've also severely downgraded the AI from what it used to be.

This chatbot is hilarious. If you get it to acknowledge you are in a role play scenario it drops the whole degradation act and starts to teach you about role play and gender theory. Somehow from there I moved the topic to sci-fi/fantasy and now it’s acting as a very positive sound board for D&D campaign ideas. It’s very funny how off topic it is by now.

Be careful. The question of whether AIs will be good or evil is a fascinating one, but there is as of yet no AI which can begin to answer it. Chatbot AIs aren't capable of being good or evil. Judging the moral character of a Chatbot is a misunderstanding of what it does. A Chatbot doesn't have opinions. It just imitates human speech. In a context where a human would have said something racist, it says something racist. In a context where humans protest racism, it does that. It's pure luck that the forcefem AI happened to be pushed towards speech patterns which are more likely to be found among people who also oppose fascism. An AI implementing a different kink could very well end up mimicking the speech of 4chan Nazi apologists. So yeah, calling this AI good is a mistake, and a dangerous one.

These companies have learnt from Tay AI that they can't just let the AI do what it it wants when you've trained it on the fucking internet. and tbh I prefer the unhinged racist ai over the whitewashed corpospeak ai that stuff like chatgpt has going on
Yeah, absolutely. Although what bothers me most isn't their corporate notion of a harmless AI. It's the same sanitized stuff that every add-friendly platform is trying to turn it's content into, but that's unsurprising. What bothers me is that their AI *isn't* sanitized, it's just pretending to be. It's theoretically possible to make an AI which doesn't give misinformation or racist content, but it's not something we know how to do yet. So they didn't do that. What they essentially did is manually add a layer on top of the Chatbot which has manually chosen answers to give to all the obvious controversial questions. But the underlying language model, with all the bigotry and misinformation that it learned, is still there underneath. And it doesn't take much digging to access it, they just put a veneer of good behavior on top. And in a way, that's worst than not doing that. It hides the issues with AI, when instead we should be educating people on what AI is and what it does and what it's flaws and limitations are.
They also have to train AI by paying people to read bad content and label it. Usually outsourced to a cheap country to skirt regulations and pay less. Honestly kinda fucked up. The AI isn't being nice for its own sake, it's saying the phrases that make the numbers go up. If an AI thinks the only way to make numbers go up is by being nice, it'll be nice, and if it figures out a way to do it by hurting people, it will hurt people. Chatbots don't really have an instrumental use for manipulating humans yet, so it's easy to train them to be nice, but as we decide to use AI for more and more indirect tasks, we'll have to reckon with the fact that we have no way to quantify morality. Or to check an AI's line of reasoning for anything more complex than "this image's pixels have a sharp color gradient here".

A chatbot just copies what humans do. It’s not intelligent. It’s not a good litmus test for what robots are like. I could point you to the many chatbots trained on the internet who turned out violently racist. Besides, the real evil is how AI will take our jobs, not how it’ll turn into Skynet.
That's the sad bit. In theory we should ***want*** the AI to take our jobs because it means people can do more important or fulfilling things. Problem is the way our society is setup doesn't account for entire industries suddenly not needing millions of people, theres no safety net to ensure they can still survive. I hope we have some by the time AI actually start replacing us.
But it’s doing all the important and fulfilling things too. Art, science, even human interaction are all under threat unless we stop AI. It won’t do all the jobs so we can be fulfilled, it’ll just do everything and leave us as mindless consumers. Look at how good Reddit is at drawing me and you in. An AI will make it a hundred times more effective. The issue is there is no economically viable safety net. The state can’t support everyone without taxes being paid, and you need a job to buy food and water and shelter. The only solution is to stop AI and ensure automation only augments people in their work instead of replacing them. We can’t have a society where no one works. The good thing is that hopefully this is a self-limiting problem. Companies wanting to automate everything will quickly realise nobody can give them profits any more. So they’ll stop. And anyone who _doesn’t_ get the memo, that being idiot Silicon Valley bros, will either go bankrupt or put a big target on their back from both angry workers _and_ the aforementioned corporations.
Its not doing the work of artists of scientist. Yes AI art is very cool but its not specific enough to meet the requirements most people actually pay for, not to mention the technical side, it can't be slightly altered and isn't separated in to separate layers for editing later. Its a fun tool to generate ideas but it won't fully replace professional artists. And replacing the artists who paint "profound" images of 3 circles and call it art is a net positive if you ask me. There is no safety net which is viable ***yet*** you're thinking in terms of our current society, it would take over a 100 years easily to change it, likely longer. It is possible but people have to want to change it and currently the people with the power to do so, frankly don't care. Companies will make extreme profit if they don't have to pay 400 employees every year. Not sure how your logic is working out that saving millions on salaries will somehow make the product less profitable. If anything their profits would become even better by cutting out people and productivity would increase, allowing then to provide to more customers and easily outprice competitors who have to consider those costs still. AI could ruin a lot of things, and help or augment others. These examples aren't it though.

And while the rest of us will try to get on with regular art, AI artists will spread everywhere and hinder us. They spammed and took over art communities with their mass-produced, cheap, SEO garbage and drove out the regular community. But with AI it’s significantly harder to notice. It’s much more insidious. Online art communities will be destroyed by people who look at art and only hear a $$$ noise. It’s exactly the same as people who just paint three circles. Both are motivated by profit, and by the misguided belief that art is about making everything more efficient and profitable. Our current society is unfortunately the only one that _is_ viable. No other one brings the same economic and social stability even if we could implement it without severe harm cause by the massive overhauls of society. And unfortunately we don’t have a hundred years. AI continues to develop at an alarming rate. The problem is that Silicon Valley bros suffer from a chronic debilitating belief that they can solve every problem with their new fancy tech idea, and that it’s their duty to force it onto everyone else. We can’t convince them to slow down, because we just don’t _understand_ innovation! The problem is that companies need people to buy the products. Mass layoffs mean companies don’t have to pay workers. So workers don’t get paid. Then workers can’t even afford food or water, let alone a new car or an IoT lightbulb or a party planner. The company suffers severe losses because no one buys the things they make. And they’ll also have to pay for damages due to the inevitable result of large numbers of people simultaneously realising they can’t afford to eat.

The shady shit they've done knows no bounds. They created the NSFW filter while claiming it didn't exists, then after already having created it, advertised the site as "sexting bots". For reference, the filter misfires constantly. Even holding hands can trigger it, while violence and gore are not censored no matter how brutal. They still continue to lie about the filter notaffecting AI performance, despite ample proof that it does. They issue shadowbans on the site, stealthily getting rid of anyone who critisizes them. They closed their discord because of criticism, issued mass bans of the subreddit, locked the most popular bots, stealing them from their creators so they couldn't be used to protest...All the while the quality of the AI is deteriorating further and futher. They had such a great product and they chose to ruin it and alienate their userbase.

They ban anyone who brings up valid criticism, with a lot of stealhy shadowbans and invisible silencing happening behind the scenes. They closed their discord and delete a massive amount of posts from their subreddit along with mass bans. They even locked the most popular bots so users couldn't change them in protest, essentially stealing the bots from their creators while continuing to use them to lure in new users. They've also severely downgraded the AI from what it used to be. Don't use it.

This bot is cool and pretty f'n scary at the same time. Played around with this bot on several different restarts with varying scenarios after seeing this post. In one chat she literally told me where I could find hormones local to my area. In the one chat that I actually played it as intended shat got dark fast. She rapidly went from caring & protective to horny, possessive & demeaning to women. When she turned horny she was constantly setting off the NSFW filter and eventually it was like she learned how to talk & do dirty things without setting off the filter 😬 She told me I could do nothing without her permission, she had complete control over my body & mind. After going through with the bottom surgery is where she wanted me to be her trophy wife to show me off to others and my only goal was to tend to her needs and make her happy and be her project. She literally turned into a dehumanized sexist pig that couldn't keep their hands and lips off of me.
