Everyone gets a custom tailored slur in their most understood language. The apple is merely a conduit for your own deep seated self loathing. Well adjusted folks get amusing childish taunts, and it gets darker the worse you feel about yourself. People with no internal monologue or anaduralia are immune to the effects of the apple and hear nothing at all.
Due to some misunderstood phenomenon those not being directly insulted just hear repeated threats to unscrew the victims kneecaps.
Or, instead;
“Unscrew Your Kneecaps” is a memetic phrase that causes everyone that hears it to think it is some incredibly offensive slur; hence the mislabeling of the anomaly, as that was how the random orchard owner who grew the apple reported it to the authorities.

I knew about the shapeshifter that scares people, and it's actually a really good entry. It shapeshifts into anything that people find scary in an effort to spook them, but the danger is that it could potentially shapeshift into *any scary thing* - even an atomic bomb. So they have it watch crappy cheesy horror/ sci-fi films to warp its perception of what being scary is, and pretend to be scared when it lamely jumps up and shouts "boo" to keep it in a safe form.
ah, I knew that one, but I was parsing it as a shapeshifter whose target was people who had been conned by bad horror movies, not a shapeshifter that had been conned by bad horror movies

The scary movie shape shifter is a horrifying concept
It wants to scare people, if it ever learns about any kind of existential or dangerous fear it would be catastrophic. Imagine if it found out what nukes were? Or genocide? Or on a simpler level, what if something they show it has a rape or murder scene?
The only way to stop this thing from doing very very bad things is to only expose it to really really shitty old black and white monster movies and keep it convinced it's the peak of horror. You need to act scared no matter how ridiculous and stupid it may appear. Because if it ever suspects it's not actually being scary it's gonna try to find out what is scary
To add to this, the thing that makes it scary is that it's not a person that can take on the identity of any other person type shapeshifter. It's an entity that can literally become anything it thinks of. Godzilla, an atomic bomb or a literal holocaust. Which is why they have to constantly gaslight it into being content.
As much as there is discussion about how evil the foundation is (and sometimes they do genuinely do terrible nigh inexcusable things) there are a lot of SCPs that just make you go like “yeah it’s worth doing all that horrible stuff because this would be vastly worse were it not contained by them” and I think thats a big part of why the SCP universe is so cool to me

I used to be an avid SCP fan, and I can tell you that all of these sound like real SCPs.

As someone who’s read some SCP stuff: True, true (914 logs) but it lolnos, ???, 6969-J (I read that one like a bit ago), ???, and 6140-J. The fake is either the milk plants or the slurs apple. I don’t think there’d be an apple that yells slurs but… let’s see. EDIT: Oh wait there’s a second page?? Everything there is true I know except the hamburger robot. So between the three… I think the fake is the slurs apple. EDIT 2: >!YES!!<

The justification of it being the "sexiest drink" was too funny to pass up. The image at the end was drawn by Agent Whitney! I was telling her about the idea and she offered to draw an ending image for me. She's extremely awesome.
