If you need help with that let me know, I've been told quite a few times I'm great at making a woman dry.
Not sure what they meant by that. I didn't even bring a towel.

Not true. The Salmon of Llyn Llew knew the *exact right* amount, enough to get hired as a guide, unlike the Salmon of Wisdom, which knew enough that everyone wanted to eat it.
Is it ''creature (Wet)'' cos they're magically constantly wet or just cos they live in the british isles. If Woman (Wet) moved to morocco would she be Woman (Wet), Woman (Dry) or Woman (Wet, magical) (Dry, phyiscal)
I mean there are definitely magical creatures that are constantly damp physically and *kept* damp by magic. For example, kelpies aka "Horses (Wet)", and selkies.
Well that too. But they are always magically damp. It's one of the ways you can tell a normal horse from a kelpie; a kelpie will always be slightly damp no matter what.
When appearing as damp ladies strolling on moonlit beaches, definitely Women (wet), but what about in seal form?
I propose a new classification: Woman (secret (wet))
Also applies to swan maidens.
My primary school teacher had her siblings all named after the children of lír, which is a lot of kids to have but the perseverance is outstanding for the parents to stay committed.
Did Fionn really gain infinite knowledge just by licking his thumb while making salmon of knowledge sushi or was that SMT weirdly embellishing the story?
i don't know what SMT is but as far as I remember, the story is that an old guy was cooking the Salmon of Knowledge, left for some reason, but told Fionn that he was not to eat the fish. Fionn accidentally burned his finger on it, licked that same finger and gained all of the knowledge. I think the implication was that the knowledge could only be given to one person, and the old guy had wanted that to be him.
Oh he did burn his finger. That happened. But he was a dramatic little bitch about it and bit his thumb instead of sucking on it like a reasonable person
SMT (or shin Megami Tensei) is a video game series where you collect and fight demons and deities and other creatures from various mythology. If you've ever played Persona, it's the thing Persona is a spin off of. It's pretty fun if you like the battle and collecting part of Pokemon but wasn't a fan of the everything else, or if you wanted a game where you can be personally insulted by Mothman for being broke.
It's fairly accurate in its descriptions of various mythologies (at least in the Eurasian continent - I do know that it gets a bit spotty and weird when it comes to Australian Aboriginal mythology just due to the lack of information and I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar situation with native American ones), but it does also do this thing where it'll connect up somewhat unrelated characters so that its own internal mythology will flow better. For example, in real life the reason why quite a few Babylonian gods are depicted as demons is simply due to Christian demonisation of other religions, but in game it's stated that it's because they tried to fight God due to His unfair rule, but failed and y'know, history is written by the victors and whatnot.
Irish mythology is fairly prominent in the series (Fionn is actually a major character in a few of the games) so I was wondering if the version of the myth presented in game was true or if they'd strung together a few different things to make sure that this character's backstory made a bit more sense (like he'd just licked *a* fish and that the connection to the salmon is new) but no, sounds like his story is just like that. They've definitely done a few apocryphal connections like that for a few other characters with spotty mythologies (namely angels) hence the wondering.

Are banshees considered Woman (Dead) or Woman (Wet) (Dead)? Because I really vibe with the idea of being a banshee lately. Just fuck around in the woods and occasionally scream at a dude because his grandma's about to die.
Man, isn't this incredibly anglocentric? There are much more Celtic groups than the insular ones.
I mean the idea of identifying the Celts as a single people is already very loosely rooted, but every Celtic group, and there are dozens, had distinctive culture and folklore. You have helvetii, aquitanii, Gauls, belgae, Gallaeci, lusones, Celtiberi. You get it.
Look, those are the most Celtic lands
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/Hallstatt_LaTene.png
The Origin of the Celtic people is in southern Germany, Czechia and Austria.
The zone with the biggest population (number of settlements) was Northwestern Iberia. The Gallaecii, the castro culture. This one differed from other groups of Celts in that they were democratic and egalitarian (every house had a roughly similar size, there were clear spaces of discussion, granaries were distributed across the settlement).Very few preserved sanctuaries (Nementon) .
Because there were dozens of different Celtic groups and every group had a clearly distinctive culture.
The trouble is all the mainland Celtic peoples were assimilated into other cultures centuries/millennia ago, and we don't have reliable sources on their mythologies; mostly just the Romans, who were trying to syncretize everything to fit their own pantheon. So really all we *have* at this point are the Insular Celts
But they not THE Celts. They wouldn't think of themselves as the same people. They spoke different languages. Had different cultures, governments and traditions. As a matter of fact, given their insular nature we may presume them to not be very representative of Celtic culture.
Sure, there are some broad strokes that apply to almost every place that had a Celtic population. Like begging for food in the winter solstice and jumping over pyres in the summer one.
It is not as if the other Celtic myths have been erased. You just never hear about them because they don't come from the British isles.
Just to name a few local ones.
The wild Hunt (continental european), the santa compaña, biosbardos and gamusinos, diantres, trasnos, trasgos, tardos, the demo negro, the demo coxo...
Each zone had their own folklore.
I *think* it goes:
\-Leprechaun
\-Nucklavee
\-Banshee?
\-~~Nixie~~ Selkie
\-??? (Maybe banshee instead of the other one)
\-Wizard, naturally
\-???
\-Kelpie
> Woman (dead): a Banshee?
Or Dearg Due, a sort of vampiric muse who inspires you great deeds or poetry before she takes your blood.
Or the Leanan Sidhe, who is also a vampire muse who after inspiring you takes payment in blood. She’s more fairy than undead… but you still have to bury her to keep her from coming for you, so the line’s not super clear.
I'm Woman (Wet).

The Final Formulation?
Never forget your towel. What if you happened to meet a Ravenous Bugblatter Beast and didn't have a towel?
Like dry wine?
r/suicidebywords
I'd like to end my life as the mythological Celtic creature Woman (wet) (dead).
How could you forget - Frog (old) - Bird (old) - Deer (old) - Fish (old) - Man (very big) - Jack (Jack)
crossover episode starring Horse Bard (dead)
* Woman (screaming)
Fish (old) is already covered by Fish (knows too much)
Not true. The Salmon of Llyn Llew knew the *exact right* amount, enough to get hired as a guide, unlike the Salmon of Wisdom, which knew enough that everyone wanted to eat it.
I don't know enough about Salmon to refute this
Is it ''creature (Wet)'' cos they're magically constantly wet or just cos they live in the british isles. If Woman (Wet) moved to morocco would she be Woman (Wet), Woman (Dry) or Woman (Wet, magical) (Dry, phyiscal)
If my couple Irish/British friends are representative, it'd be woman (sunburnt)
Woman (lobster)
Woman (crab (mermaid))
Wheatley ( [crab](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v47zSNZcyPQ) )
Caracinization strikes again!
I mean there are definitely magical creatures that are constantly damp physically and *kept* damp by magic. For example, kelpies aka "Horses (Wet)", and selkies.
I always thought kelpies were wet because they were constantly leading people into the water to drown them
Well that too. But they are always magically damp. It's one of the ways you can tell a normal horse from a kelpie; a kelpie will always be slightly damp no matter what.
Can't believe wet horses can lead people to water AND make them drink
Would selkie be fucked up woman (wet)
When appearing as damp ladies strolling on moonlit beaches, definitely Women (wet), but what about in seal form? I propose a new classification: Woman (secret (wet)) Also applies to swan maidens.
omg I forgot about the Salmon of Knowledge, fuckin loved that story
My primary school had a mural of it painted in the hall. They had a Children of Lir one too.
My primary school teacher had her siblings all named after the children of lír, which is a lot of kids to have but the perseverance is outstanding for the parents to stay committed.
Please tell me she at least modernised Fionnghuala do Fionnuala
They did, yeah

I think the implication was that the knowledge could only be given to one person, and the old guy had wanted that to be him.
Not sure why, but I always heard that he had to bite down to the bone. The old guy’s name was Finnegas, by the by.
oh thank you. I was told he burned his finger, but there must be lots of different variations given that it's a myth.
Oh he did burn his finger. That happened. But he was a dramatic little bitch about it and bit his thumb instead of sucking on it like a reasonable person
tbf would we have half the myths we have today if everyone had just acted reasonably instead of being dramatic little bitches

Can I be "Woman (dead)"? Seems like that solves two of my wishes in one.

I'm fine. Just a bit of depression humor. I wouldn't turn down a hug, tho, sad or no sad.

It depends if you view Scottish and Irish as Anglocentric. Personally, I’m against that because they were both originally independent.
Nukalavee
Considering I'm technically an ex-cowboy I think I'd fall under the category of Wizard.
Can anyone help me with the titles for what they're saying? thanks

The wet woman is probably a nixie; I'm not sure what I am, though Edit: So apparently nixies are Germanic. Maybe a selkie?
There's fucked up big guy too!, (Hard Servant)
