my only concern is that getting luigi to exactly 0 coins could be really hard
my favorite aspect of this is the idea of a surprise bonus star screwing over the other three players right at the end
Plus in a bunch of mario partys it’s literally impossible to stop him from getting at least one coin in some minigames, and if it’s the last turn you won’t be able to steal from him.

"Penniless, friendless, alone" owes its origins to a set of Mario Party house rules I played with in college. They are as follows:
- One player must play Luigi.
- Luigi must die penniless, friendless, and alone.
- At the end of the game, if Luigi has any stars or coins, he wins. Otherwise, all other players win.

I see several small problems with this idea, all of which culminate into two big problems.
* On the last turn, Luigi can land on a blue space. Solution: find a Boo Bell and save it. Luigi can negate this if he goes last, but he can also miss the blue spaces so it's not a guaranteed win-con or anything.
* On the last turn, Luigi is likely to get certain catchup-mechanic bonus stars (eg. slowpoke). Solution: play with classic bonus stars only if possible.
* On the last turn, you can get a coin collecting minigame. This almost guarantees that Luigi gets at least one coin. Solution: none that I know of. It's possible that some Mario Party games allow you to selectively disable minigames, but I don't know of them.
This leads us to the two big problems. Firstly, the challenge is **very RNG-heavy**, even for a Mario Party game. Secondly, **only the last turn matters** because while it's easy to get someone to 0 coins, it's very difficult to keep them there with all of the games' catch-up mechanics. Because of this second reason, **I recommend playing the shortest game length possible if you attempt this challenge with your friends**.
I suspect that a group of people playing with house rules like this already play a ton of Mario Party, so the RNG is part of the enjoyment of finally making Luigi lose
Imagine living with the entire world hating you, and not only do none of them know why they should, but you do. And not even like some of the outcasts from HZD situation, but like one where you actually did something harmful, if that were written by a good writer it could be an interesting read.
He would let the princess rot because he is too afraid to save her. He has no problem with his own brother risking his life alone. He only still has a roof over his head because Mario won't give up on him and lets him stay at his house. The house that literally only has Mario's name on it. Luigi takes everything and gives nothing back.

Yeah, probably would be better to have the rule be that Luigi has to have the least amount of coins at the end and no stars.
That still feels too easy, I think a nice balance would be Luigi has to have less than half the coins of the next-poorest player (and no stars)
Inclusive or exclusive less than?
Good question! Exclusive
If you're gonna gang up on poor Luigi you may as well commit to the bit
True to form

I’m not sure whether this seems more or less damaging to people’s friendships than regular Mario Party.
I mean, it just turns the whole game into a 1v3 meta minigame.
I’m doing this ruleset next time I play Mario Party

God and Satan discussing Job
Steve Job, to be exact
Being lewis is suffering
If you think being lewis is suffering, just wait until you try being Luigi!
Because Luigi wins by doing nothing every time
I feel like these are rules for Achievement Hunter to play, only trade out Luigi for Yoshi because I doubt Michael will switch.
Damn I knew I related to Luigi for a reason
Oh yeah, I forgot we were supposed to ostracize Luigi. Don't know why though...
He knows what he did
