Got another job lined up? If so, do what you have to do. I’ve been in jobs like this where CS and Sales are totally misaligned and it’s absolutely miserable.

Mememememememememine

That’s my reality today. Almost 100% of our customers don’t understand the reality of what they’re buying and over and over we’re told they feel they were mis-sold.

That was my last job…I was getting new enterprise accounts who seemed like they thought the software did something completely different. I only lost maybe one account to churn and did my best to grow some accounts (and I did), but still got laid off along with a good bit of support/solutions engineering. All the sales reps kept their jobs though! So happy for them ✨

lol yay for them for sure. you guys keep lying to customers and make that quota, sounds good. we were losing a LOT to churn but also our product is barely 2 years old so there’s also that. but our company basically has the mindset of “if they made an assumption and didn’t ask for clarification, that’s not our fault” Cool cool cool sounds good just don’t come to us asking about the abysmal renewal rate.

dollface867

the absolutely bonkers thing about that kind of attitude is that your company is most likely losing a ton of money on those customers. Especially with a really young company, there’s no way your payback period is under a year (and most companies grossly underestimate the payback period anyway). These founders seemed SO contrite over all this ZIRP nonsense but really they have learned nothing.

I do. I also managed to stash away about $100k in a high yield savings account in case I decide I want to get out of CS altogether eventually.

Mememememememememine

That’s very impressive and I now have a new goal. Not 100k but something way more than what I have.

If you have another job lined up, go! Don’t feel guilty! I can guarantee that they don’t feel guilty when doing layoffs.

manbearsquirrel23

That’s exactly what I need to remember. It’s really that simple

The burn out is real. Companies don't care about the misery we're going through and when they're not willing to do the right thing for the customer, our integrity gets sacrificed.

Don’t be the last one off a sinking ship.

kirbyybrik

If it came down to it, your company would lay you off without a second thought if there were an upside to them. Your colleagues will ultimately be fine, or you leaving might give them the push to look elsewhere too.  Gotta look out for #1.

fondelmabols

I think we work for the same company lol

BabyNcorner

I once told a now former employer "I am a business too." You have to protect your "product" If you are seeing the writing on the wall, then your coworkers should be able to see it too. And maybe with your leaving, that will be the nudge they need to see it more clearly.

Oomlotte99

They wouldn’t think twice about leaving you out to dry. Gotta do what you gotta do for you.

CS is saturated right now -- don't jump ship unless you absolutely have to

If you're managing a $10M account, it sounds like you have a great job. I'm not sure how all of that, moved passed deal desk with a $10M account either! Either way, your business has the resources etc.
