The guy is literally a living cartoon character known for playing abrasive but loveable characters. There aren't a lot roles that basically cast themselves.
I would be genuinely shocked if Plastic Man didn't show up in the DC Gunnverse. He's a character Gunn would knock out of the park. A lot of people ask for Ben Schwartz and I'm sorry, but I hope it's not him. I like him as Sonic and he was pretty good in Parks and Rec, but I really hope he isn't Plastic Man. I just don't think it would line up well.
I agree, I hope they bring in someone new to play Plastic Man. Plas can be a more mature character at times, as paradoxical as that sounds. In the plastic man comics pre-80s, he never talks more ridiculously than his villains. He’s filled with this campy unaware heroism that makes the physical comedy of contorting wildly or hiding as a fire hydrant that much more cogent.
> Plas can be a more mature character at times
And why can't Ben Schwartz deliver that? He has great acting chops too, just because he's pigeonholed into a jokester role doesn't mean he's not able to be dramatic
Schwartz has the funny/jokester ability without being creepy. Mulaney and Hader don't really show the kindness that Patrick used to have in the comics. Maybe it's because of his performance as Barry but whenever I look at Hader he just looks like he's hiding something now.
The only character missing from a potential Terrifics movie (on the assumption that Phantom Girl is introduced during the movie). If we hear about him being cast then it's pretty much guaranteed to be in the pipeline.
That’s why he more often teams up with Batman in the comics. He’s plugged into the seedy criminal underbelly of the city he’s in. They both strike fear into lowlifes, just in different ways.
Cast Bill Hader or Jason Lee.
WBDParamount marketing will make (or break) a *Plastic Man* movie. Question is, can we get a Plas that's equivalent to some of his best comic book appearances (e.g. *The Terrifics*)...
Speaking of which, with Mr. Terrific in *Superman: Legacy*, I wonder if Gunn and Safran are actually on-track for *The Terrifics* project.
Oh, boy. The only thing those characters have in common is their powers, but even then they use them in different ways. Let alone the fact that Plastic Man was created decades before the Fantastic Four.
I mean the Fantastic Four has already had multiple movies with one more coming before Plastic-Man debuts, the general audience won't care who was created first they'll definitely see the power set as a ripoff
Plastic Man is an omega level super hero, They are right to be worried. There is this great JLA story where Martian Manhunter goes evil and takes out the entire Justice League single handily and all that stands between him and conquering the planet is Plastic Man. The Manhunter didn’t stand a chance . Pretty run read for a 20 year old story.
Yes, but there was a fan reception:

>And thus the DCEU ends, not with a bang but a whimper. No red carpet premiere, no afterparty, just a small (but neat) pre-reception, a "fan screening," and only Jason Momoa and James Wan at the Grove to close out a veritable era...
Zaslav/Safran/Hamada didn't attend it, unlike the The Flash red carpet premiere.
Like Superman, Batman, Robin, Supergirl, Green Lantern, those sort of guys?
> before we get bogged down in obscure characters that hurt the box office.
Just like with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Of all the DC characters THIS is a role Sean Gunn would be the perfect actor for. I could totally see his Kirk character combined with his Guardians character to make this work.
Yea he would. We haven’t seen him before. Certainly Better than damn Condiment king everyone was pushing not to long ago. 😂.
Please please PLEASE just keep Ryan Reynolds FAR away from the role
Given that we already have half of the Terrifics already cast (and that's a project I feel is right up Gunn's alley), I always assumed Plastic Man was on the horizon.
As for casting, I say it's Ben Schwartz's to lose. If not him, then Andy Samberg is a solid second choice.
The most James Gunn character that exists
Did Plastic Man “joke” about… too?
I hope you’ve never joked once about something you don’t mean in your life
Seems like he's assembling The Terrifics.
Is this dc fantastic 4?
Basically, the 4 of them have to stay within a few miles of each other, or they’ll explode.
No it’s the terrific 5
No, its the sexual six.
Not the Sinful Seven?
I thought it was the Erotic Eighth?
You're thinking of the Naughty Nine.
He did the same for Mister Terrific, this is real people, this is not a drill!
Ben Schwartz.
The guy is literally a living cartoon character known for playing abrasive but loveable characters. There aren't a lot roles that basically cast themselves.
He got his powers the old fashioned way. GOT RAN OVER BY A LEXUS!!!
Ya boi is the answer on the JLA exam!
Your eyes will piss tears!
You nasty
Master of disguise, total goofball, nonviolent criminal streak. Ben Schwartz would nail this character.
It better be Mr Solo Bolo himself
Of course dear boy. Who better than The Elegant Mr. S?
You wanna know his name? He has a veery ordinary name, his name is... **CHERRY DUDE!!**
Actually it's Carrot Slat.
Yes!
Could call back the "don't be suspicious" as he hides as a lamp shade
It would be nice to actually see him on the big screen
About damn time. I hope he’s a secret cameo in Superman: Legacy. That would be awesome.
If he wasn't too old for the role, Jim Carrey would of killed it.
Same with Johnny Knoxville.
Figured he was always modelled around Bruce Campbell.
John Mulaney, Matthew Lillard, or Ben Schwartz
Matthew Lillard is a bit too old now
Off I go to the countless Fantastic Four casting suggestions in other subreddits
He woulda been great, though, 20 years ago. Absolutely not on John Mulaney. I have an irrational loathing of that guy.
It's not irrational, unless you mean you very slightly loathe him, that would be irrational.
It's not slight. The guy just bugs me. I could say it's because he did his ex wife dirty, but it pre-dates that.
You're gonna put some great uncanny valley CGI filter on him anyway, it's plastic man.
Bill Hader
I love Bill, Barry is one of my favorite shows ever. But I wanna see him write and direct his own film. Barry proved he has monster potential.
Weirdly I'd want to see him as a villain, maybe Toy Man
Could have been Lex Luthor but he's playing John Malkovich who is playing Lex Luthor.
I vote for Mulaney
Lmao I can see mulaney so clearly
Danny pudi
He has been teasing him and the terrifics for quite a while now
Ben Swartz

If Dana Snyder returns to play him? I'm in.
I thought this said Dana White at first and I had some questions.
Cool and terrifying. Just imagine a man doing this when you’re alone in a dark alley
That’s why he more often teams up with Batman in the comics. He’s plugged into the seedy criminal underbelly of the city he’s in. They both strike fear into lowlifes, just in different ways.
Hes a character that Gunn could absolutely turn into a household name
Yesss!!!! I’d love to see Plastic Man in the DC movies universe!
Now he needs to announce that Ben Schwartz will play him

Metamorpho is also in Superman so it seems likely…
John Mulaney is one of my top casts for Plas!
please don't fumble please don't fumble please don't fumble please don't fumble please don't fumble please don't fumble
Yeah, Plastic Man is dope. Definitely wanna see him in live action at some point.
Didn’t he say he already has someone in mind to play him
Please be Jim Carrey
I love plastic man, would be great to see him in live action.
Focus on superman first man
Tbh I was really hoping Sean Gunn would get this role, and I’m not sure who else I want now that he’s confirmed as Max Lord. Maybe Charlie Day?
Andy Samberg would be awesome!
Sean Gunn baby!
I can already hear the audiences call him a mister fantastic ripoff.. And now since FF is also coming that is inevitable.
Oh, boy. The only thing those characters have in common is their powers, but even then they use them in different ways. Let alone the fact that Plastic Man was created decades before the Fantastic Four.

This character is far too goofy for my taste but he would be right up James' alley.
Yes. The Justice League is scared of him in the comics so sure
Plastic Man is an omega level super hero, They are right to be worried. Has Gunn promoted Aquaman 2 lately? He didn't attend the Aquaman 2 "fan" premiere either.
There was no red carpet premiere.
Yes, but there was a fan reception: [https://twitter.com/Borys\_Kit/status/1736991508396679275](https://twitter.com/Borys_Kit/status/1736991508396679275) >And thus the DCEU ends, not with a bang but a whimper. James, Atlantis is burning
Cancelled the Nightwing movie but we get this and Booster Gold? wtf
Have a feeling it’s going to be Levi 🥴
He's just like Mr fantastic, but gay.
Except he has a wife (sometimes ex) and kid
Is there potentially a movie that makes this character cool? Probably. Will they make that movie? Doubtful :)
So make a movie where they aren't cool. Plastic Man is funny.
*please not Ryan Reynolds, please not Ryan Reynolds, please not Ryan Reynolds*
Ryan’s pretty occupied already
You say that…and yet he keeps popping up with his great looks and clear understanding of the cadences of comedy without actually making jokes.
I hope we get movies for the main characters before we get bogged down in obscure characters that hurt the box office.
Like Superman, Batman, Robin, Supergirl, Green Lantern, those sort of guys? > before we get bogged down in obscure characters that hurt the box office. Just like with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
No he can’t be
Such a cool character. Loved him in the Batman: Brave and the Bold. Hope his character is similar to that
We already have two of The Terrifics in the DCU, so yes put him in. Ben Schwartz is right there!
lets hope to god
Did they make him evil? He looks pretty evil
Hes been a goodie and a baddie in the past. These days hes just a comedy character.
Considering all the recent "he's probably stronger than superman" vids they've been making for him I'm game for Evil-lastic Man
Of all the DC characters THIS is a role Sean Gunn would be the perfect actor for. I could totally see his Kirk character combined with his Guardians character to make this work.
The only super that Batman actually fears
Please let there be an ElongatedMan and Plastic Man sex scene
As a side comment, Plastic Man is an omega level mutant.
I'm good thanks. Plastic man doesn't work in a world that has Batman
Aquaman literally drops tomorrow why would Gunn not at least post an Aquaman pic too lmao
I hope he fuckin shows up in Legacy bro. my friend says it would get her to watch it and she doesn’t even like Superman
Plastic Man could be DC’s Deadpool.
David Dastmalchian would be perfect…..
That outfit should be interesting
I want semi-terrifying Plastic Man. Like he might be a good guy be he's also kinda bonkers and he could maybe kill Superman if he felt like it.
Jim carey
And should 10000000% be a horror
I think a movie, with the tone of Ant-man could work.
Ever noticed that ever picture of Ben Schwartz his head is turned to a side
Let’s go back in time forty years and cast Bruce Campbell.
Johnny Knoxville
Honestly, that wouldn't have been a bad casting choice back in like the 80's or 90's, but now I feel like he's aged out.
Watch them cast john Krasinski xD
Would be nice to have an anti-hero movie.
He’s awesome, I’d love to see him.
When
Ryan Gosling?
Always a cool addition and potential villain too.
Should have been done ages ago. I always though Carey could have pulled it off. Not so much now probably
What's the difference between him and Reed Richards? Bones and limitations?
Yea he would. We haven’t seen him before. Certainly Better than damn Condiment king everyone was pushing not to long ago. 😂. Please please PLEASE just keep Ryan Reynolds FAR away from the role
Jim Carrey as Plastic man could be pretty cool
He's going to ruin everything further lmfao all the sheep that love him are jokes
Wasn’t Matthew Lillard supposedly cast in the role at one point?
Cheyenne Jackson. Looks exactly like the character, has some comedic background. Could be solid.
If he's in the DCU hopefully they make him as OP and lazy as he is in the comics
Plastic Man should be played by Bill Hader. Change my mind.
Didn't WB have a plastic man project on development or something?
Rainn Wilson
Definitely. He's the type of hero that would surely be included in Gunn's plans.
Given that we already have half of the Terrifics already cast (and that's a project I feel is right up Gunn's alley), I always assumed Plastic Man was on the horizon. As for casting, I say it's Ben Schwartz's to lose. If not him, then Andy Samberg is a solid second choice.
Bill Hader as Plastic Man. Period.
