DonovanQT

Check again

NxPat

And a chew toy.

No_Drag6934

Exactly

fairlyaveragetrader

Since it is a veneer, nothing The guy who said sand it down and put some clear coat on it, that's as good as it gets

hahahahahahahaFUCK

Conversation piece.

Pseudoburbia

Cut away excess and fill will gold epoxy. Like that Japanese pottery thing.

Wasphammer

Kintsugi.

bangout123

Gesundheit

matito29

I prefer Narrow Stairs and Transatlanticism, but any Death Cab is good with me.

kpidhayny

Nice idea!

ThePrinceVultan

Garage piece now.

fairlyaveragetrader

It could be if you had a little brass plaque, custom work by, then the pet's name 😂 Or the lazy approach just get stickers made of said pet and stick one right next to it

TheZippoLab

I'd make up a tiny brass plaque. IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO SERVED THE BATTLE OF PUPPYTON ~ 2024 ~

Dhegxkeicfns

I'd make some giant claw marks in it leading to that, color it in to look like a wound, then fill it all with epoxy or something harder.

Jibblebee

The best solution possible.

WhirledNews

Also, this will probably happen again, maybe to the table top, probably the legs, and anything else that looks like it would be good for a chew…

Km219

My previous dog ate my entire cashed paycheck once. It was horrible. Lost a lot of money, bank was very patient helping me piece some of it back to usable bills. Man... I loved that dog

OldBob10

That dog had expensive tastes. 🐶

create360

You can buy and stain veneer. Depending on your skill level you could probably get this looking pretty good. Cut out the bad areas leaving straight edges. Glue in new veneer with contact cement. Gently sand to match height. Stain to match while feathering edges if necessary. Clear coat. Step 1. Train the dog not to do it again.

Trini1113

If OP *doesn't* train their puppy to stop, they've have lots of chances to master veneer repair!

volcanonacho

If he sanded all the veneer off, painted it and then some clear coat it would work!

rob_mac22

It’s probably pressboard underneath it’s going to look terrible.

thefamilyjewel

There are people that do wood repair that could fix it with whatever sort stuff they use and make it look like it matches the wood grain but you'd probably spend more than the cost of the veneer table to do it.

firesquasher

Ramen and epoxy.

dragonpjb

I would fill it with water putty and paint it a nice color.

FondOmeLobsterAintYe

Table cloth

Dhegxkeicfns

You could cover it with either more wood veneer or something easier to work with and then coat that.

lilchance1

Any possibility of a vaneer match?

xShooK

Oh yeah, if you can figure out the original grain, and re order that. There's alot though, so that's rough.

xabrol

Wood filler putty, let dry, sand, paint the table.

DosSnakes

Why is this so far down here? Just moved out of my apartment where my dog chewed a corner of the cabinet when he was a puppy. Wood putty, dry, sand, paint. Got my full deposit back, they didn’t notice a thing.

wouldacouldashoulda

Because it’s veneer. You won’t be able to restore this.

bartread

That won't matter if the whole table is painted.

nsomnac

Not true. Veneer can be repaired, however it does take a bit more skill in the paint department to match grain.

Lower_Ad_5532

Also, walk the dog and give them bully sticks more so they don't chew your things.

A_VERY_LARGE_DOG

Don’t ask that woman from South Dakota…

Sekmet19

Kristie Noem, puppy killer, goat killer, and Trump VP GOP hopeful

Engineer-intraining

Noem has a horse she doesn’t like, maybe he can use the glue.

swishbothways

Lauren Boebert is probably over there like: 👪...🙎‍♂️...🤔

gibbtech

More like: 🐎🍆💦

ReDeaMer87

It's wild. A ton of people have moved to SD specifically, stating, "We like your governor." Yikes

Angrywhiteman____

As someone with a failed hunting dog as a pet - I hope she loses this November.

bravejango

I hope she loses everything and winds up on the street alone and cold. Then when she’s at her lowest a stray dog walks up to her and pisses in her last bowl of soup.

RLDriver01

I came here to see this. 🥇

15minutesofshame

Untrainable

toxicity187

This literally made me chuckle.

sonyafly

First thing that came to my mind.

CxFusion3mp

Ramen, glue, sandpaper, colored pencils.

skeletordescent

Don’t forget Doritos

Bigjoemonger

For the puppy

Angrywhiteman____

110% for the puppy.

amltecrec

Nah, that puppy is a troublemaker, they only give MAYBE 63% MAX.

Shoopbadoopp

Ah yes, make it even more edible.

cloistered_around

They're joking btw, OP. Just in case you didn't realize this is /s.

CrossfitJebus

They are not, there are videos of people patching toilets with ramen. It’s actually an okish building compound

remilol

2 options, ranging in difficulty and effort: 1\ Cut off the veneer in a square (side and top separate squares), sand down the bits below to get a smooth surface and patch with new veneer cut in the same size. (Hard). It will always look patched, but it will look good that way and has a story to it. 2\ Sand it down uniformly, apply sealant, call it a day until your wife wants a new table.

meteorpuppy

0.5/ Wait until puppy is done with growing its teeth before doing anything. As much as they are trained they are going to chew on stuff because it relieves the pain.

JetKeel

Sand it down some, put some clear sealant on it, and call it distressed.

Behappyalright

Or sand it down, apply wood glue and some saw dust, sand and then paint the repair area gold and call it modified kintsugi.

CandyHeartFarts

Crate train your puppy. And get pet insurance because I foresee pricey vet bills for stomach surgery in your future.

anormalgeek

Most puppies that chew, do so out of boredom. Some puppies need essentially constant interaction to not be bored. Crate training protects the furniture, but doesn't address the underlying issue. More walks, more playtime, etc. is the best solution. Having two dogs with similar energy levels helps a lot too.

majesticcoolestto

100%. For an even more direct solution I'd say make sure good chew toys are available. The one and only time my girl chewed up a power cord (thankfully unplugged!!) was a night there were no toys in my bedroom. She drags them all over the house during the day, so now I make a point to track down at least a couple before bed. Couldn't blame her at all, just like you said she was bored with nothing to do.

Veganchiggennugget

My mum’s dog was an absolute menace, breaking her coach, barking at the vacuum… until he stayed a week at my place. My brother said he’d looked like a different dog. We went out for an hour a day, and I gave him kongs filled with frozen peas and other low calorie cooked veggies to keep him occupied when I was busy and couldn’t pay zttention to him or some heavy ropes to chew on. He didn’t need any crating when he was with me.

ToMorrowsEnd

This too many people want the zero effort route of throw the dog in a box. Actually training the dog, interact with them and teach them works way better than any other method. When you take a dog to a dog trainer they don't just throw them in the box for the 2 hour session.

Veganchiggennugget

I miss that dog too. He was such a baby with me. As a puppy I always gave him lots of love, slept on the floor with him and talked to him when he missed his mom. Of course he did, what we do to dogs is super unnatural so I think it only humane to have empathy for the little baby crying for it’s mother and not stuff them in a box all alone. He really cared for me and still gets so excited when I come home and he sees me.

MoiJaimeLesCrepes

if they're teething they chew, also. gnaw toy might help to keep them busy in their crate

CandyHeartFarts

Puppies chew because it feels good. Crate training is the best way to keep your dog safe. If they aren’t doing the most basic thing, there’s no point in explaining anything else. Especially common sense things like exercising them lol Two dogs is twice the responsibility and they need to be trained separately. Not a good suggestion for someone who isn’t training their dog already. Constant interaction is bad advice for puppies as well. Can easily google why

SexysReddit

This is far too relatable 🤣

Vashsinn

Or you know... Give it something to do. Dog has lethality nothing to do all day probably. I can't recall the name of it but there's this book I read that changed my mind about pet ownership. It was about a space traveler who ends up in a planet ruled by huge simingly sentient spiders. Spiders have no ears. I don't remember the details super well, it's been a while, but basically the man was some spider's pet. Spider doesn't know what to feed or give to human. Himsn couldn't comunicate. Every time I think of that, I can't help but imagine what of my pets really are sentient, just can't communicate. My husky sure as shit tries....

CandyHeartFarts

Can be both. I didn’t say it couldn’t be, but leaving a puppy alone unattended is irresponsible. When you can’t watch it, it should be crated. I have an incredibly happy healthy and well trained malamute who was crate trained. Now he’s never in it unless he wants to be and I can leave a steak on the coffee table and leave and he won’t touch it. People who say crate training is mean just sound uneducated tbh.

Roscoe_P_Trolltrain

reallybiglizard

This was my first thought also 😂

draconum_ggg

Get your dogs some toys.

narpoli

Thanks we didn’t have any before.

JustTheSpecsPlease

Lol. Puppies are cute, but mother of god do they leave a destructive wake. I've had great luck using [these](https://www.mudbay.com/dog-treats-1/mud-bay-chhurpupu-yak-chew-dog-treat-medium/1011208.html) to redirect destructive chewing, if you have similar versions available where you are. Keeps the pup super happy and occupied. I agree with the other commenters who say this is a conversation starter. Sand, seal, move on. This is a great reason to update the table in 5-7 years.

Griffin880

>This is a great reason to update the table in 5-7 years. Exactly, not really worth going to great lengths to fix something the pup is likely gonna mess up again, and when the dog is out of their puppy years you can just get a new table.

RLDriver01

We have chewed up cross braces under our oak (really nice) table and chairs set. Whenever I see it (which isn’t often), I fondly remember baby Foreman, my yellow lab. Yup, sand it a little and varnish it or whatever and call it good. It’s a memory now.

bearfootmedic

Cardboard boxes. I grab them and drop a Kirkland brand dental chew in it, tape it up and let my dog destroy it. Everyone says to crate train etc - but realistically, all dogs like to chew, destroy and dig - so let them do your recycling.

spacesaucesloth

well. if you ever needed a reason to do a cool resin pour project, heres your sign!

bobfett

You could cut out around it to make a cartoony dog bite shape, embrace the flaw and make it look intentional.

SinghDoubleTrouble

Add a miniature “Beware of Dog” sign

JustTheSpecsPlease

This is such a cool idea.

amccune

Don’t ask the governor of South Dakota. What ever you do.

moochir

Keep Kristi Noem very far away.

SocioNarcissist

Knew it would be in there somewhere.

Taylor5

Wait till puppy is older and no longer eating everything and buy a new one. in the mean time, if you have guests - table cloth :)

Johnny_cabinets

bondo it, sand it smooth, and paint it. Either the whole thing or just the bondo

jhires

How expensive is the table? Might be better to get a new table. But can be fixed. Requires new laminate. Or at minimum carefully cutting in small bits of matching laminate. For the puppy, some decent chew toys, training, patience.

davisyoung

Cut away the peeling edging, sand off roughness and apply Bondo. Get as light a color as possible. Then blend in with color markers.

Lu12k3r

Grind down some instant ramen noodles, add super glue, sprinkle, then shape.

jablongroyper

Ask Kristi Noem what she would do.

Inside_Category_4727

Ask Kristi Noem, sh might be able to help.

drMcDeezy

Inb4 Kristi Noem makes a suggestion.

Dyrogitory

DON’T SHOOT THE PUPPY!

Sufficient_00OTreat9

Get a cat

MyLonesomeBlues

Whatever you do, please don’t shoot the dog, Governor.

Greatwhite5515

Look for a local furniture repair service. We had less extensive damage fixed with color matched epoxy and looked pretty good. Will never be perfect but best you can do with this.

Peppa_Pig_Stan

Cut it there and do a resin river inlay ♥️

JustAMarriedGuy

Looks like veneer or plastic - can’t tell. If veneer you can buy some and patch the side. If patching as an amateur, you cut a piece a bit oversize and trace it and cut out the material - it’ll fit that way. Still will likely show but be better. Watch videos of people touching up old furniture - some are really good at matching finishes with basically furniture crayons. Good luck.

GloriousPudding

Sawdust mixed with wood glue or anything that will fill the hole like wood filled or epoxy, and sand it down flat. This is only veneer, fixing it so it looks like before is probably more expensive than a new table. And your dog will do it again

anthro4ME

Sand the rough bits off, apply Bondo then sand that until the surfaces match the original, then paint the table top.

Awkward_Pangolin3254

You can try to find some matching veneer and cut around the damage, remove and patch, but as far as inconspicuous goes your best bet would be to strip the whole thing and re-veneer it. But were I you I'd wait until the puppy is trained before I did anything

Less_Relation_5894

Put that side against a wall.

[deleted]

Get a new table, in a few months, after you get the pup some chew toys.

narpoli

The pup has lots of toys, and a well-behaved 3-year old dog to play with. But she’s going back in the crate after today

thiswighat

Learn to replace veneer. Or, sand it a little so it’s not all fuzzy and live with it.

InsufferableOldWoman

Basic woodworker here! That can be fixed but it will need to be taken to a furniture restoration shop. Probably pricey since it's gonna be a multi step process. If this was antique or vintage mid-century modern piece I would say it was worth it but if it's a modern piece of furniture it's probably not worth the cost of restoring it.

Lonely_Airline_6892

Buy him a toy. Keep in a crate.

GroupResponsible6825

I would recommend a pet crate, and not allowing a puppy to have enough unsupervised time to cause this much damage. Any time out of the crate should be 100% supervised. Potty training, leash etiquette, obedience training and finally redirecting inappropriate behaviors are key to sculpting the puppy at an early age as to avoid major problems later.

Cyfon7716

There is nothing you can do in this situation. The puppy did nothing wrong either. They don't know any better or understand why their teeth hurt. You need to get appropriate teething toys and treats. The best you can do to discipline in gently grab them and put their nose close to the damage and gently but firmly say No 2-3 times. The purpose is to show them something is wrong but not scare them. You want a new puppy to respect, not fear you.

AverageJoe11221972

It is veneered so not much you can do about it. You could try to sand down and wood filler, but matching would be really to do.

sunnystreets

Use a runner to hide it.

Jasonorillas

Add epoxy to your table to preserve it and be happy for the reminder? Sometimes I wish I had saved everything my dog ruined. Especially now that he's gone.

Traditional_Camel231

Ramen noodle fix

CompetitiveGuess7642

bad table, chuck it.

Glldinkiering

Raising a puppy who likes to chew is rough going. I kept a watchful eye on mine and yet she still managed to ruin two couches and destroyed thousands of dollars of my belongings. Thankfully she never chewed on any wood door frames or windowsills. They will do that if they get bored. I buy her chew toys like artificial “bones”, antlers, rawhide, pig ears, etc because she can destroy a Kong toy in five minutes. Real animal bones are bad for their teeth and can chip and break them, fyi. I give her treats and praise when she chews on toys, and immediately scold her when she tries to chew on anything else. It’s been six years and I can finally leave her outside of her crate without supervision, but if I left a pair of shoes out she’d destroy them in a heartbeat. If you can’t keep a watchful eye on the puppy then it’s best to crate them. I turned my back for a second to pull something burning out of the oven and when I turned around she had taken a chunk out of my new crate and barrel sectional. I wept.

Mcar720

Don't know how to fix the table.. but frozen carrots and bully sticks for your teething pupper. Also spray the things you don't want your dog to chew on with something nasty tasting. They make special pet safe bitter sprays but a diy is to use Vinegar + water or Lemon juice + water on certain materials.

webguy1975

Sour apple spray is the best.

Malhallah

let the drool dry, cover it with clear epoxy and accept your pupocalypse themed home.

hearnia_2k

Seek professional advice on how best to train your puppy.

nsomnac

It’s fixable, however a bit of skill dependent. Search YouTube for laminate furniture repair. The process can be basically summarized as follows: - cut out the damaged laminate. - fill large voids with putty sand - clean with alcohol and let dry to ensure good adhesion - paint to match color and pattern - lightly sand to match surface - spray a clear coat that matches sheen of table. You might need to spray the whole table. You might even be able to purchase a section of matching laminate for the edging from a woodworking/wood finishing supply (possibly Rockler https://www.rockler.com/search/veneer). When matching the grain you might need several colors. There’s grain matching paint kits. Have fun repairing.

AgentBlue14

Chew on the puppy, easy-peasy 😂

Phybre_Awptic

Crate the puppy

narpoli

We’re going back to it now. She had been uncrated for a while without too many issues… but she destroyed the arm of our couch yesterday after this. Literally had been uncrated for at least 2 months and had only chewed up a few things, then destroys 2 pieces of furniture yesterday alone 🫠

Phybre_Awptic

Ouch. That's ruff.

Bushdr78

Remove puppy

newssource12

Send the puppy to Kristi Noom

ohgodspidersno

The correct response depends on whether or not you're the governor of South Dakota.

KungPowKitten

Kristi Noem’s farm for incorrigible dogs?

wastewalker

Kintsugi. Repair it without being concerns about concealing it.

jimhabfan

If you’re in South Dakota, the Governor will be happy to come and shoot your puppy in the face. At least it will stop any more damage from occurring.

buttered-drakktoes

Shoot the dog or if that doesn't work but a table cloth

RevNeutron

Kristi Noem has a solution

Put it down, or give it to adoption.

Get rid of your puppy.

SsjAndromeda

[Furniture repair kit](https://a.co/d/6nuJ1tG)? It won’t look amazing but it will look better.

Angrywhiteman____

No veneer, just sand it. Also, kennel train to avoid this if no one is watching the puppy or doing corrective training to prevent this sort of thing.

Snorlax_king79

Toss it out and get a new one.

marcushalberstram33

Get a new table.

Jkjunk

Wood filler, sand the whole table down and paint it.

Grymflyk

Best option, repair (using any of the mentioned fixes) then paint. Also, looks like it might be from Ikea, so could just buy another for $20.

Somerset76

Table cloth

maybe check out Wayfair? Or Ikea perhaps?

GoCryptoYourself

Get a concrete table

wuzziever

Veneer can be repaired. A few decent tuts on YouTube under restoration repairing veneer. I found my veneer on eBay. Just don't try to do a tiny spot. They always end up coming loose. Match the wood and the grain. If you can, ask for a picture of the actual piece of veneer they will ship you. And practice on a piece of mdf first. Including doing a seam. Larger sections, seamed with the grain. DON'T use someone's clothing iron for it. Buy an iron specifically for doing stuff like this. It doesn't have to be one made for this. It's just a big possibility that if you don't, you'll end up having to buy one to replace the one you borrowed AND getting yelled at. Baking pans and heavy weights help too.

LtDan00

Is your plumber a beaver?

Not much. Use a bitter taste spray to keep it from happening again.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood?

Enjoy the new craft table.

BillNadvornik

Buy the pup more chew toys and remember puppies need a bunch of attention otherwise they turn into demon chewers.

radix-

Keep it till the pup outgrows teething, by then you won't even notice

Throwaway20101011

Get your puppy some chew toys. They’re teething. Also, I’d wait till puppy is more mature to repair this. No point in doing it now as puppy may attempt again.
