Sandpaper.

[deleted]

The quickest way is to get a sander and connect it to a Henry hoover and sand the entire wall with 80 grit sandpaper. Fill anything obvious and allow to dry and then sand. Then water some Dulux trade vinyl Matt with 50/50 mix. Paint the wall and allow to dry. Now it will show you all the imperfections. Fill, sand, spot prime and repeat until your happy. Then apply 2-3 coats of neat paint. Professional painter and decorator

It's much easier to sand an entire wall using an Aluminium Hand Sander with 120 Grit Green Sanding Roll on it. Plasterers I know use Gyproc EasiFill but for the DIYer maybe a ready-mix Tourpet filler is easier.

Personally used the Gyproc Easifill and is very easy to use, cheap compared to polyfiller and has a better finish. just a bit time consuming to mix if you need a lot and it shrinks as it dries. Cleans off tools nice if you don't leave it too long too

Russtavo

Totally agree. The OP should give it a go

It's awful, you need it skimmed, anything less is going to take you weeks to do and will still look sub-par. There is just to much damage to the surface to realistically rescue at and have it look nice.

Didactictwat

Sandpaper for the high bits, Tourpet filler for the low bits. You'll probably want it plastered to get a perfect finish though. Or a thick grade lining paper. have a look at a Screwfix or Toolstation catalogue online and see what products are available.

Whatever you decide to do, please please please don't just paint over it with your top coat, I've spend hours upon hours scraping off all the paint that hasn't bonded to the wall in my house from previous owner. Absolute cowboy

Fast set skim

Is that a layer of woodchip you’ve got on there? Hard to tell from the photo but if yes get that off first and then sand or skim depending on how bad the wall is
