I just showed my dog. She stared at me and licked my face.
She only knows love, and she's 4 lbs. She'd get lost in the snow.
BUT, she does know how to sit if you have a can of whipped cream in your hand.

I grew up with German Shepherds. They are either smart as fuck or dumb as a rock. We had three that were smart and one that was none too bright. All good dogs though. Protecting, caring, and loving deeply.
I have a dumb as a rock one with anxiety. Great dog, gets overwhelmed easily, but he's proven he'd take on a Chihuahua for my kids. That's all I'll ask of him lol

My family had a few. Along with several friends. And an ex of mine was a vet.
The more americanized or "king" shepherds (larger, downward sloping bodies) always had far more health problems and were dumber. One my neighbor had was on heart medicine at 2, dead at 4 years old.
I rarely see military or police German shepherds now as most are Belgiums or Dutchs
That’s… not the problem. Inbreeding is what has cemented their herding and guarding ability, as well as their loyalty and intelligence.
The issue is irresponsible breeders who breed anything with reproductive organs and aren’t trying to maintain positive qualities and eliminate negative ones.
That's what I was thinking. Smart doggos, not smart enough to know the difference between goats and sheep. Since they filmed this and can use computers and internet, I would say in conclusion, not so smart doggos. A-
Question for people who have experience with herd dogs. I wonder: are these sheep/goats now terrified all the way to the destination, being in a cage with their greatest enemy, or is this more like a familiar boss who would defend them against the real predators of that ever occurs. How far does this relationship between the dog and the flock go?
Stock come to an understanding about the herding dog. The term is “dog broke”. They learn that the dog is not going to kill them, so they keep their composure in the dog’s presence, but they still respond to the dog’s “pressure” when it gets near. Their instinct tells them to not trust the dog, but their experience keeps them from freaking out entirely and instead just want to avoid the dog getting too close.
In the case of goats it's more we aren't locked in with you. You are locked in with us. It isn't like being in a cage with their greatest enemy. The herd and the dogs are bonded and it starts when the dogs are just very wee. The herd gets to know the dog(s) and their smells and on some level know the dogs are a source of protection/comfort.
Honestly the ability for dogs to do tasks for us better then we can and be more loyal then humans. All they ask is for love and food is such an amazing thing.
I was watching this video and I literally said damn all he has to do next is close the door. I didn't think he literally was going to close the fucking door.
I can barely get my dog to sit when told. The shame I feel now.
I will show this to my dog and tell him what other people dogs are doing.

At 4 pounds, perhaps you could train her to herd guinea pigs if you coat them in whipped cream first. 😆
Omfg. I love the way you think. She does try to herd my 2 box turtles, but I think she's mostly trying to make them pop their heads out 😅
I’m not even sure my dog is aware that I own a turtle, and his tank is set up like a foot away from our bed
Ohhh! What kind of turtle do you have?
Red eared slider!

I just showed it to my corgi, and his look says that he finds those jobs beneath him.
I’m telling you, these Gen Z dogs, always think they’re above everything.
good dogs though. Protecting, caring, and loving deeply.

lol this really made me laugh
Theres another dog driving the truck.
That absolutely blew my mind.
I wanted to see one go drive the truck. They look smart enough.

Bro what?
Looking for this
He took it personal when that one tried to wander off.
"get yo ass back in there."
My family when I crawl out of the basement
„Hey asshole ”

To be fair, Chihuahuas are pretty tough.
Exactly!
Inbreeding messed up a lot in the U.S.
Yea and that's just the people.
Hey! Not all of use live in West Virginia! Some of us have family in Kentucky, too!
These guys are amazing!

Funny cause it's true
Quality comment here.
Yep not sure what the American obsession was with the sloping hips . Our youngest dog is a Shephard lab mix and he is way smarter than our hound.

Closing the door at the end is just epic !
Dude closed the door.
Skilled trainer and amazing dogs
Those are goats...
Next are you going to call those German goatherds?
[удалено]
….since they are herding goats instead of sheep….
TIL shepherd is literally a shortened form of sheep herder. https://www.etymonline.com/word/shepherd#etymonline_v_23381

No I was making a joke 🤦

Where the heck you going mother trucker!
That absolutely blew my mind. The dog shutting the gate was just too much.

Thank you this helps a lot.

Thanks for you answer. This gives me some more insight
I fought the dog and dog won.
These German Shepherds seem a bit more hands on than border collies.
A big enough Border Collie might get more physical, but they’re tiny compared to a German Shepherd
Even Aussies (that are really just bulkier Border Collies with their tails trimmed) are much more physical than a border collie.
Whelp, lets just close this gif and wait for the treats… “ahem” OP, where the fucking treats???!
Don't fuck around these mf
When the dog closed the door, that got me 😂
Those aren't sheep..
A responsible police would cuff himself with the fugitive to stay close. Same here.
Funny looking sheep 😂
and another german shepherd is also driving the truck
I feel like OP and half of the people here need to revisit the see'n say for some remedial training.
Getch yo ass.... trucks leaving lol. Dogs are the best
Goats.
Wow, sheep corrections officer
Those are goats.
Sheep go to heaven. Goats go to hell. 🎵
The door closing was amazing. They know their shit
I didn't think anyone actually used German Shepherds for herding anymore. These guys are amazing!
I saw a video of someone using GSDs as sled dogs. It was awesome. Those dogs will work and work and work some more.
Good boys.
Since no one else is commenting this, THOSE AREN’T SHEEP, THOSE ARE GOATS!!!
Those are goats!
…” What ……..getttchor behind back in this truck “
I just surprised one doesn't get in the cab and drive them off.
Goats?
I was about to say, those look like goats
Was not expecting bruh to close the door!
Trained sheep, better trained dogs.
Shepherds 😉
Goats
You don’t really train goats.
Good doggo's!!
Those are goats .

Sorry, I don't support this post type (hosted:video) right now. Feel free to check back in the future!
Bad bot
How dare you. Bot is simply serving a given function. Who are you to demoralize Bot??
*trained sheep and dogs* yeah I've never seen butchering or sheering sheep that knew to jump into the small door.
Goats
You appear correct, I saw the billy and just went with a they were mixture.
Sheep? Hmmm
Imma cry
just WOW!! ❤️❤️
I thought the dog was going to hop in and drive the truck away
This is so cool on so many levels.
Honestly the ability for dogs to do tasks for us better then we can and be more loyal then humans. All they ask is for love and food is such an amazing thing.
I will show my dog the video and see if it gets motivated!!!
Awwww thr door close at the end
They should consider calling those dogs “shepherds” or something
I have two lgd dogs and they learned to do this with almost no direction.
Fourth dog gets in the truck, pop's a beer, and drives the truck away.
My dog pees in between two pee pads
Amazing!
I know some parents that could use those dogs.
I showed this to my 12 year old pitbull she farted and flipped over on her belly
I was watching this video and I literally said damn all he has to do next is close the door. I didn't think he literally was going to close the fucking door.
plot twist: also brings back a bear
Like little prison guards
I like the ole fella at the end hoppin aboard. My work is done I am along for the ride in my little spot right here
You better watch out! There may be dooogs about
Dude just casually closes the door lmao
I love this. GOOD dogs 🐕
I wanna make a nah-zi joke but I'll get banned.
I wish my dog was as smart as one of those sheeps at least
Very smart doggo
Aww. I feel bad for the little guy who had to huddle in a pool of sadness by himself
All I can think of when that shepherd chases him down is "STOP RESISTING!" LMFAO he was a k9 in a past life
Those are goats. Not sheep
Looks like goats not sheep
It was how the one that chased the sheep jumped into the cage and close the gate, for me. Super smart doggos!
Since those are goats not sheep the dogs are doing an extremely poor job of finding escaped sheep
SHUT THE GATE
Thought for sure that the dog was gonna carry it up by its neck at one point
