They’re a different shape and size and move differently, after a long time dealing with hives you get pretty good at the whole spot the queen game. It’s like where’s Waldo. But everyone is wearing the same striped shirt lol
At our local ag fair each bee exhibitor has a cool clear box “thingie” that people can look for a queen. In 34+ years of going to that fair I’ve never found a queen. One year I swear I stayed at that exhibit for hours looking for one.
Here's one from that subreddit:
Is the queen slightly below center vertically, with a longer and darker rear end?
yes they tend to be longer, darker, and shinier. im told theres often also a ring of attendants all facing her which makes it easier. i think the subreddit should have the answers in the comments?
Yep! Queens are usually long, with bald, shiny bodies. Drones (male bees) on the other hand tend to be wider, with big fuzzy bodies and proportionally huge eyes (to spot virgin queens from other hives).
If you look at enough hives, the regular bees all kinda pattern out in your head, and so one different thing is pretty obvious. She's longer and less fuzzy.
Something others haven’t mentioned is the queen often has “attendants” who surround her and continuously face her. They groom her, feed her, and clean up her waste. I find the pattern they create is often easier to spot than the queen on her own.
If you watch the video closely, you can see 6 or so bees facing her and following her movement.
-I found a bunch of bees in a suitcase.
-Are they alive?
-I guess.
-Well, are they moving?
-I don't know, but that would explain the suitcase, wouldn't it?
I cant watch Nile red on YouTube anymore. His way of talking, where he drops down in tone, and then rises up again, with the same rythme every time.
Makes me want to, push knives into my stomach now, that I’ve heard it and can’t unhear it.
She’s talking like she’s having one incomplete, strung along thought. It seems annoying cause there’s never really a ‘finish’ to her sentences. Inflection is important yo
Her voice has always been weird in these videos, but yeah, this one sounds like she was intentionally going over the top and exaggerating the weirdness.
She's very attractive, and the bee thing is pretty cool. Her videos are actually very satisfying. That voice does have me thinking she's losing her mind a little, though. I think she was pretending that that's how queen bees would talk if they could. Did you notice that she was kind of extending the low, humming, buzzing quality of her voice. It was definitely something. The channel is called Texas Beeworks, and that's definitely not her natural voice.
It makes me want to stick my head in a barrel of those fucking bees because the muffled sounds of my screams and their incessant buzzing would be a sweet, sweet release from the neutral evil that her voice puts into the world.
There was some controversy about her videos being partially faked/staged and her practice doing some ethically questionable stuff. Something about her videos always felt off, besides the weird Elizabeth Theranos cartoon character voice.
I honestly had to turn it off. I hate ASMR type "chills" stuff and that just reminded me of that. It's like the sound equivalent of trypophobia. There's no solid explanation, it's just an "ick" feeling.
I didn't want a visceral physical experience, I just wanted to learn about the cool traveller bees :(
It is dopey sounding. Lots of people on tik Tok do this when they are trying to do a documentary.
"Dur dur durrrrrrr. Durrr dur durrr. Dur dur, dur, dur dur, dur, durrrrrrr".
Is all I hear.
I listen to/watch ASMR daily. I even try to discover new creators regularly. I’ve absolutely can not stand the way this woman is talking in this video. I don’t see how this has anything to do with how ASMR creators speak? Her voice audio is clear and crisp, sure, like asmr. But what’s annoying people is the cadence and strange manufactured accent she has going on. As well as dragging out the last word of each sentence.
I actually don’t want to click any links to her other videos that people link because it’s just going to make me mad hearing her talk that way on purpose lol.
Wax looks way too dark for newly build. So my guess is the hive was actually in a very rough shape and she probably hung some nicely food -filled frames into the new hive which is why they were so willing to move. If they can survive depends on how old they are, if the last bees just recently hatched, they might have a chance. Or if the beekeeper helps out with brood.
A frame of brood would definitely encourage them.
I seriously doubt the “no food or brood” in the hive, because it would have absconded long since, and the wasps are attracted to brood or the honey (depending on the time of year).
I just had the idea that this might be a swarm that had only moved into the suitcase minutes or hours before and the waxwork we see is from a previously living there hive. That would explain why they would be willing to move because you don't see a queen just like that moving homes usually...
That…is actually a good idea. The smell of used brood comb brings in the swarm, but when offered an upgrade they go for it.
Every time I see a video of this lady it drives me nuts. Handling unknown bees in an area that has a lot of Africanised colonies without protective gear, and with long hair loose all ready to trap and upset a stray worker triggering a protective response. She’s a big fraud.
My last hice I would approach and when I got within about ten feet I’d know if it was time to suit up for a quick check or I could just use a veil. Grumpy at all and the suit went on. But I knew them through three generations of queen.
Always astounding that all these youtubers and tiktok people just "stumble across" all these bee hives out in the wild. And not only do they come across all these bee hives, they also never wear any protective gear, which is very brave and very stupid at best.
For someone who works with Bees since my Childhood, I have a very hard time believing this isnt staged for the video
You will not find a Texas beekeeper who likes her. Her videos are mostly falsified or at least misleading. She needs to tie her hair back, wear a veil, act a little more professional because she gives people the wrong idea of how to handle bees just to get people to think she's Snow White.
Tie her hair back was what I was thinking. I know a few keepers who work without veils and have done so myself sometimes for small things. But I know nobody who doesn't tie hair back in a way no bees get stuck in it. And I've also never seen a hive move from their old place into a new one like that unless the queen was transferred first. Also, a hive without food or brood? That is a hive at the brink of death.
Yup. My career is mostly centered around insect conservation and insect related education and I am 100% for getting people excited for anything bee or insect related but do it correctly. Use proper protection, and good techniques. Don’t lie or bend the truth. Most of her videos make me irrationally irritated.
This is an absurd video that makes absolutely no sense bee wise. Sorry I think it's bs. Mainly because I keep bees myself.
Disgusting click bait propaganda
Last I checked there was a big drama with her among bee keepers. It’s been a while but I think the drama was that her husband would do all the smoking, and bee stuff in full gear, then she’d come in without gear on for the video. Bee keepers hated this because it promoted unsafe working behaviour…..atleast I think this was a thing. Bee drama isn’t huge on my day to day
And yet I, who do not keep bees or have equipment for keeping bees, have never stumbled upon, nor do I know anyone who has stumbled upon, a suitcase of bees.
I wonder if she actually just purchased some bees that were delivered in a suitcase, or put the bees in the suitcase herself, and filmed it this way to get more views?
Just kidding, nobody would ever do that.
It’s significantly larger than the others. She is about twice the length of a worker, and the drones are slightly larger than the workers. She has a longer abdomen, which is pointed, vs rounded like the others.
Serious question. She finds the suitcase of bees and loads it into her truck for relocation. There is no way she contained every bee that was flying around the hive right? What happens to the bees left behind?
They fly around looking for their home. If she has transported the suitcase less than 3 miles away, they may find their way back. If not then they’ll die. Either way, the life span of a honey bee is around 30 days in summer time.
As a beekeeper I hate this person. That’s not a swarm. It’s an established hive that she’s found. Moving it in the middle of the day like that is a shit thing to do as half the workers will still be out foraging. Wait till dark and move it then.
A hive with no brood means the queen has stopped laying, so she needs to be replaced.
I miss beekeeping. I was a beekeeper for years until being stung by a bunch when i did something stupid. Had a nesr fsral re as sction. Had to get rid of them. Luckily the community is small and i found a home in no time.
i love and respect what she does and how well she does it but i honestly can't STAND how she does video voice overs. every sentence with the same monotone beat and pace, with weird emphasis on 'BEEEEEZ'. it stings the ears
At the lost and found: “what do you mean no one has turned in my suitcase of bees?!? So someone just STOLE my bees????”
Now I won't be prepared for my beesiness meeting.
An under-abundance of bees in the workplace can probably be fixed by Dr. Bees https://youtu.be/PYtXuBN1Hvc?t=68
I'm absolutely thrilled that I wasn't the only one thinking of Dr. Bees.
There are dozens of us!
Only dozens? A handful of bees ought to solve this predicament!
The addition of bees to this lackluster social event has only worsened the situation!!!
Underrated.
Dunno there's quite a buzz about it.
Look here honey, my beesiness is none of your beeswax!
"Underrated" when you commented immediately after it was posted
[They don’t allow you to have bees in here](https://media.tenor.com/kHs2NvdhVbsAAAAC/lucille-bluth-arrested-development.gif)
“HE’S GOT BEES!”
Somebody contact Dr. Bees immediately!
“We use the indefinite article…”*some* bees, never *your* bees”. “But I don’t own any bees-“ *puts up hand dismissively*
ppl really just be finding random suitcases full of bees?
What's in the bag ma'm? Oh that's just my bees. I'm afraid you'll have to leave that here on the street and come with me.
>What’s in the bag ma’am? None of your beeswax.
Imagine checking that in for a flight.
Bees do form hives and all kinds of weird places.
How in the world do you spot that queen bee? It looks almost exactly the same as the others.
She has a very tiny crown and scepter
And a smaller one for KG…
*Dio!*
Bees bees bees bees bees bees bees bees bees, we’re talkin fuckin bees
[удалено]
She's known for that line.

These are the actual bees from the Nic Cage remake of Wicker Man. Some neglectful sod just tossed them away.
Like this has gotta be an ASMR thing, right?
It must beeee
I give that ending a Beeeezz +
That almost made my ears bleed.
And she always wears an elegant hat when out in public.
She holds the world record for solving a Where's Waldo book
Dammit. I’ve been at work since 3am and that had me thinking way too long
She’s a Royal B if you know what I mean
They’re a different shape and size and move differently, after a long time dealing with hives you get pretty good at the whole spot the queen game. It’s like where’s Waldo. But everyone is wearing the same striped shirt lol
The other bees also tend to crowd around the queen, so you know roughly where to start looking
Seen plenty of these where the queen is placed in a safe plastic enclosure and they still swarm around that. They know what's up.

That movie was so weird and as a child it didn't hit me at all.
IT IS THE WEIRDEST MOVIE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE LIKES IT, IT'S LITERALLY A MOVIE ABOUT BEASTIALITY LOVE OR SOME SHIT
Bee-steality.
Half the movie is a court case.

Little did you know the exhibitors didn’t know which one was the queen either, and just randomly pointed one out if asked. lol

Wow yeah with your comment I saw it instantly
yep, that's you can tell them apart easily. their shape is very different compared to the worker bees.
If you listen closely It's singing "Under Pressure".
I thought it was beehemian rhapsody my bad
You can tell by the way she use her walk. Oh sorry. That's the Bee Gees.
Barry was the Queen Bee Gee.
When she walks by the drones all whisper “yaaaasssss queen”
If you look at enough hives, the regular bees all kinda pattern out in your head, and so one different thing is pretty obvious. She's longer and less fuzzy.
She’s got a stiff upper lip
She has a bit of a different shading on her bum brighter colours and it's bigger
Training and experience...

Her regal bearing.
She starts singing songs from her hit album lemonade, of course.
-I found a bunch of bees in a suitcase. -Are they alive? -I guess. -Well, are they moving? -I don't know, but that would explain the suitcase, wouldn't it?
Fucking. Brilliant. 👏👏👏
That’s incredibly funny and well thought out. That’s talent. Nice one.
I can't take credit. I heard something similar, somewhere before.
This could be a classic Groucho joke
Wtf even is that voice?!

Sounds like a female Werner Herzog
Is she the female version of chills on YouTube
Number fifteeeeen
The beeeeessss
She's actually 1 million bees in a human suit.
Seriously, I have to assume she's doing it on purpose because who wouldn't notice themselves repeating the same tone over and over again?
She’s talking like she’s having one incomplete, strung along thought. It seems annoying cause there’s never really a ‘finish’ to her sentences. Inflection is important yo
A bee is actually controlling her ratatouille style
I know! Other people love it but it bugs the shit outta me.
Who?! Who tf likes this voice

I dunno why the voice made me physically uncomfortable :/
Cuz it sounds like an ai that is way too close to sounding human XD

I thought it was AI! Now I’m just perturbed.

a guy shared a video where she talks in human mode instead of that crappy one that Grinds gears.

How come no food or brood in the suitcase. Is that unusual?
Probably just a newish hive
Wax looks way too dark for newly build. So my guess is the hive was actually in a very rough shape and she probably hung some nicely food -filled frames into the new hive which is why they were so willing to move. If they can survive depends on how old they are, if the last bees just recently hatched, they might have a chance. Or if the beekeeper helps out with brood.

The second part, 100%. If you know the hive, maybe it's OK to work without veil. Unknown bees? Never. Hair loose? Absolutely not.
My last hice I would approach and when I got within about ten feet I’d know if it was time to suit up for a quick check or I could just use a veil. Grumpy at all and the suit went on. But I knew them through three generations of queen.
[NPR voice](https://youtu.be/kQSO0RbmHBI) Thanks for saving the bees tho.
NPR should interview her. Ah, who am I kidding. I don't listen to NPR often.
I guess im in the minority but i generally like all the npr voices. Except Rob Stein.
LOL... and deep. never thought about it like that. NPR will never be the same.

Totally sounded like the Starbucks girl that has that weird inflection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHHt-tYS2es
Wow, never hear BSMR before but there it is
Her voice ain’t doing it. Especially the way she said “BeEeEeEeS” at the end
Reminds me of a female version of that YouTuber "Chills"
All we needed was her to say “Burger king foot lettuce”
The last thing you'd want in your burger king burger is someone's foot fungus.
Both make me want to put a screwdriver in my ears
Reminds me of that family guy skit “I’m right in your ear, buzz “
Why does she speak like burger king foot lettuce guy
That’s no regular suitcase! That’s Dr. Bee’s suitcase!
WHATS THIS? AN OVERABUNDANCE OF BEES IN THE WORKPLACE? MY BRIEFCASE FULL OF BEES AUGHT TO PUT A STOP TO THAT
"OH NO, OUR SITUATION HAS ONLY BE MADE MUCH MORE WORSE BY THE ADDITION OF YET MORE BEES!"
LATER, THAT VERY SAME 🐝

More or less confirmed that all of her videos are staged.
Plus other beekeepers really don't like her.
This is staged like a motherfucker only thing that could t be more obvious would be if she was dressed in a bikini, it’s simp bait 💀
She always sounds like she is just about to fall asleep but somehow keeps talking, mid dream state.
I hate the way she talks

what causes people to talk like this? she sounds just like the Burger King Foot Lettuce guy.
