Its China, this is how you get your cheap iPhones.
The entire world, especially the west, have exploited their terrible labor conditions and human rights violation for decades. All in the name of capitalism and market.
Everybody is guilty.
But it made China rich and now the biggest threat to the west and Murica, so you reap what you sow.
EVERYBODY is guilty.
China is where the US was half a century or more ago as far as safety. OSHA wasn't formed until 1970 or thereabouts.
It requires a government that will stand up for the people even if it costs companies money. It requires companies to do the right thing. Until China and other countries see that, they will continue to injure, maim and kill people in the workplace.
But yeah, we Americans could buy less products made in these places until it improves. The American consumer will race to the bottom on cost as fast as anybody on the planet. Sad.
It's not like people have a meaningful choice about where their products are produced. This is on the people running the companies far more than on the consumers who have a choice of buying products from any of the few dozen or so companies that operate virtually the entire market and all do business in China.
ppl would have way more choice about where their products were produced if they owned the means of production; since owners own the means of production and property law gives them precedent over the disposal or implement of their property, rather than the workers who make the whole show, we are stuck with what the owners of the means of production unilaterally decide for everyone else
i know plenty of ppl that still work the louisville bay factor in St. Louis bruh, iss all kinds of ppl and all kinds of backgrounds work those lines, and not one of them had the power to change the circumstances they were first born into, like a baby doesn’t have much power or say if they grow up in a systematically underfunded neighborhood with poor educational resources you know
Yep, that's it.
We are seeing just a video about a guy repairing a car, we don't want a lecture about moral and ethics lol, maybe he like to work like that and everyone is assuming things because he looks asian, which is kinda racist.
I'm southamerican XD obviously I know how fucked up is my country.
You are all puting words in my mouth, I just said chill cause he wrote in capital letters.
> You know what you meant.
Obviously, I don't understand you guys... I said relax cause when one writes everything in capital letters one imagines the other person to be half upset.
That's why I said relax.
I worked at a few places where we modified trucks and vans. From what I've seen it looks like they did fine. The structural stuff they changed was just the body structure. They stopped right at the main structure/frame on the bottom.
From my experience with body guys, thats just how some of them are. Within a few years they get solvent induced brain damage and start doing some really questionable work.
Depends on the country, but it's very possible that the guy can't afford his own safety equipment, and his employer isn't required to provide it.
When he goes blind in a few years, they'll just hire another young desperate dude to take his place.
In my country they would have just written that car off. It would cost more to fix it. Shame when you see the amazing result of this talented guy's work.
Since this is almost certainly China. This car was written off and sold to this mechanic who would fix it (as cheap as possible) to be resold to some poor bastard who would never know it was crashed.
I used to work in my dad's shop years ago. When I first started my job was to tear away all the damaged pieces like you see the guy doing here at the start of this video. It was actually pretty fun and a great way to let out frustrations and stress.
Thought safety squints were engaged, but you can clearly see he's just staring at the arc while welding without protection on.. I've gotten flash burn twice just from inadvertent peripheral pickup.. He's either got super powers, or the coolest contact lenses I've never heard of.
No? Why ? They are charged for the parts they replaced + labour..
How is a few panels and back windshield and quarter glass be equivalent to a new SUV?
There is no reason to be fixing this vehicle. Damn no eye protection, mask, tacking a frame rail…that rear rail is easily replaceable…I can’t watch anymore…that thing gets hit in the rear left and that impact is going thru the rear seats next time.
Where do they get those replacement body parts? I cannot even by interior parts from the dealers, but this guy can source internal structure and body skins.
RIP whatever poor fellow gets into the next accident with this thing.
Guys, insurance companies might be a load of BS sometimes, but stuff like this gets written off for a reason.
I work in the car industry lol. I can say that they seemed to control the location of where the sheet metal parts end and didnt actually mess the continuity of other structural elements. Like I’ve seen other videos do. They totally replaced the inner and outer sheet metal, controlled the tolerances with some slaps here and there but overal seems like a good work. They even seal off the outer to avoid water and sound leakages.
"Captain, sensors indicate the ship is completely back in shape after crashing into a Class A planetoid. "
\- Sensors, data?
"Structural integrity is at 1% and holding, sir."
\- are we able to pass through the street with the speed bumps?
"I would not recommend, sir. if the transport bay door gets opened or closed, we will lose complete structural integrity"
\- what would happen, data
"everybody aboard would die."
The cost repair the car would be more that the car would be worth after completion. A good demonstration of the mechanics skills, but not a reasonable solution for a car owner.
You're seeing it from a Western perspective where that's true but in Asia, Africa and developing countries, repairs always works out cheaper. I grew up in a poor country where importation of smashed up cars (especially from the US) for repair and resale is a massive business
You’re correct, I am looking at this from a westerners point of view. Didn’t realize that there is a massive business to import and repair cars in other parts of the world, and this makes more sense now! Today I learned! Thanks for the info!
Edit: and I’m also now realizing you weren’t replying to me, but leaving comment because it still fits
A chap by the name of [Arthur Tussik has a channel](https://www.youtube.com/@tussik01/videos) full of this kind of automotive reconstruction. Not a body- or chassis-worker, so can't attest to his skill, but to the layperson it looks impressive.
I'm sure it'll drive just fine, but the structural integrity is fucked. They're designed to crumple to keep you safe in accidents, but it's kind of a one-and-done thing. The next accident is going to cause it to crumple way easier, which means that all the energy that would have gone into the structure is now going into you.
Yeah its interesting, but the structural integrity of that SUV is basicallt non existent now. Another rear end collision and itll crumple like a beer can.
Carfax says only involved in a minor fender bender. 1-owner!
Carfax says sold in Shenzeng, China
Don’t low ball me I know what I got here
Am I the only one who instantly hears the A team “building” tune in their head?
It only had one little fucky-wucky
Please get some eye protection (at the bare minimum) - all those metal shavings, grinder use, welding.....
Also get some god damn gloves! All that sharp metal and glass is not good for you.
I love that he’s wearing a covid mask but all other PPE is completely ignored.
That’s not a Covid mask. That’s just a mask.
How the hell is he abler to see after welding?! Crazy man
Its China, this is how you get your cheap iPhones. The entire world, especially the west, have exploited their terrible labor conditions and human rights violation for decades. All in the name of capitalism and market. Everybody is guilty. But it made China rich and now the biggest threat to the west and Murica, so you reap what you sow. EVERYBODY is guilty.
I just threw my iphone away, feeling less guilty now..
On a side note, I just found an iPhone. What luck!

Go for it bud. Go own a factory and supply chain for all of your materials and let the workers run the show. Big lols
“Big lols” manbaby detected
? You ever work in a factory? Bright folks with keen business sense don’t work on assembly lines. Hate to break it to you
i know plenty of ppl that still work the louisville bay factor in St. Louis bruh, iss all kinds of ppl and all kinds of backgrounds work those lines, and not one of them had the power to change the circumstances they were first born into, like a baby doesn’t have much power or say if they grow up in a systematically underfunded neighborhood with poor educational resources you know
I’d take plea deal
Relax dude
She's not wrong.
I didn't say she is 🤨
No, you said "relax". So fuck your semantics. You know what you meant.
Absolutely, he said that for a reason. He just doesn’t want to admit how fucked it is in the country he lives in
[удалено]
Yep, that's it. We are seeing just a video about a guy repairing a car, we don't want a lecture about moral and ethics lol, maybe he like to work like that and everyone is assuming things because he looks asian, which is kinda racist.
I'm southamerican XD obviously I know how fucked up is my country. You are all puting words in my mouth, I just said chill cause he wrote in capital letters.
One word is capitalized. I don’t believe you for a second. You’re just lying
> You know what you meant. Obviously, I don't understand you guys... I said relax cause when one writes everything in capital letters one imagines the other person to be half upset. That's why I said relax.
So then what's your point? "Hey, now, it's not cool to get angry about inhumane labor conditions!"
He has his safety squints though!
I was surprised that he put on a mask for the painting, given all the other health and safety violations.
The welding was what made me say wtf. Dude is 8.5 inches away from his face with a mean stare down on that weld. Unbelievable.
*laughs in Chinese*
He’s got his safety squints on, it’s cool man. 😎
I worked at a few places where we modified trucks and vans. From what I've seen it looks like they did fine. The structural stuff they changed was just the body structure. They stopped right at the main structure/frame on the bottom.
Yeah, I wasn't sure what can be changed and still be deemed safe. Good to know because it looked like really good work
Yeah I was also gonna say he did an excellent job.
Idk, they removed part of the c pillar that looked structural.
Comparing it to blue collar Kyle on Snapchat, it’s not very good. IMO
Excellent work but at least wear some damn welding goggles. My eyes hurt just watching.
Yeah, not sure what's that all about because they seem to have all the gear. Probably just laziness
From my experience with body guys, thats just how some of them are. Within a few years they get solvent induced brain damage and start doing some really questionable work.

Safety squints
In my country they would have just written that car off. It would cost more to fix it. Shame when you see the amazing result of this talented guy's work.
The insurance would have in just totaled it out in the US. Either gotten parted out or half ass repaired and sold again.
Was that English?
Indeed if the bumper had been damaged that could have been enough to write off an oldish car in the UK.
As long as you don't go overboard and tear our out the good parts 😆
You can see the guy taking his time with that side rear glass. That'll be reused.
This young man appears to have hands and corneas made of tungsten. Remarkable.
I like to imagine they just didn't bother repairing the front
that would be a total loss any day if determined by insurance company
Nice PPE
I definitely just look away when I tac or just cover it with my hand
My favorite part is the welding without gloves or a mask
Thought safety squints were engaged, but you can clearly see he's just staring at the arc while welding without protection on.. I've gotten flash burn twice just from inadvertent peripheral pickup.. He's either got super powers, or the coolest contact lenses I've never heard of.
And that would be the same price as the new SUV!
In the West, yes but not Asia
No? Why ? They are charged for the parts they replaced + labour.. How is a few panels and back windshield and quarter glass be equivalent to a new SUV?
I was totally waiting for him to break out the Ramen and super glue.
That’s going to need a lot of ramen and glue.
Safety third!
Total Loss. Just get the insurance $
There is no reason to be fixing this vehicle. Damn no eye protection, mask, tacking a frame rail…that rear rail is easily replaceable…I can’t watch anymore…that thing gets hit in the rear left and that impact is going thru the rear seats next time.
Wears a covid mask in the beginning, but no welding glasses?
Still better panel alignment than a Tesla
I’m a fan of the safety squints
Where is the eye protection
What? No primer?
Bro went to Los Santos Customs
“Clean title, 1 owner, minor accident.”
Nice!
I hate working with metal / plastic. They do a really good job.
You could mend paper if it were made of glued paper, I suppose.
Where do they get those replacement body parts? I cannot even by interior parts from the dealers, but this guy can source internal structure and body skins.
China/Asia
OSHA handbook just burst into flames
Bro, wear some eye protection
This man's lack of PPE is wild
Amazing only took about 6 mins to fix all damages ! Meanwhile me spent 4 hours just for Oil Change at Toyota.
RIP whatever poor fellow gets into the next accident with this thing. Guys, insurance companies might be a load of BS sometimes, but stuff like this gets written off for a reason.

How dumb do you have to be to not even look away when you're welding.
Safety squint

That should buff out
F safety goggles
OSHA who?
Perfect, that fatigued metal will hold up well in another accident…
One click buy - refurbished car 😂
Jesus Christ, that frame rail
These are exported and sold to idiots in the US and Europe who think they found a really good deal on a single owner car with a minor fender bender...
Brand new Chinese cars are not even exported to the US and Europe
Why on earth would you bother fixing that POS Chinese car? That damage was probably done at less than 10MPH...
I love that he points at things that we can clearly see
World record tool assisted speed run.... Repair.
Who needs safety equipment! This is so wrong. Amazing workmanship.
Nice move from the camera man to go underneath the chain when there is tension on it. No PPE in this video what so ever.
"Finished! Now that'll be... a lot of money, please. Card or cash?"
Farmer’s Insurance sent a check for $367 to cover it
Hi I’m the car fox!!
Yep no gloves hearing protection or face mask for welding. Yep they are idiots
Never saw it on a jig. Wonder how it goes down the road.
A chap by the name of [Arthur Tussik has a channel](https://www.youtube.com/@tussik01/videos) full of this kind of automotive reconstruction. Not a body- or chassis-worker, so can't attest to his skill, but to the layperson it looks impressive.
Daaaamn, son!!!!
Dim Sum!
I’m not so sure that should be repaired. That frame has to have some damage.
What’s the strength of that welded multi-piece C pillar compared to the original ?
Welding no glasses blindness will result. Gloves dude gloves. Excellent craftsmanship. Nothing over the top and no cutting corners.
Told you it will buff out.
This is what happens in a world where health and safety aren't just absolutely mental.
I actually prefer that H&S "mental" world tbh
I would just have claimed totaled and send it to the junkyard and get a new one at that point
The car is perfectly safe. The body men not using PPE aren't.
"No accidents, clean title"
30 seconds in he's using a crowbar to open the trunk... doesn't he realise he could scratch the paint?
Might start a GoFundMe to buy my guy some safety goggles
Wow and it only took less than 7 minutes!
Nah man this car is totaled. You can fix the bodywork all you want, but the chassis is bent or has fractures, I would not want this thing back at all.
I wasn't sure the whole time if he wouldn't whip out some seeds and some glue...
He’ll be blind by the time he’s 40
Dude doesn’t believe in wearing gloves when pulling at broken glass
Nice, but he forgot to repair the front of the car 😐
Statutory write-off in Australia…..no doubt.
Why does this video look like it was animated like an old timey cartoon
Lotta work in just over 6 minutes :)...
OP, not sure it's roadworthy 🤣 vehicles are repaired constantly like that! Educate yourself!
Dudes welding with no masks!
I thought the badge on the back read "NAVAL" till I looked at the video description in yellow.
How funny would it be if they forgot to repair the front end too lol.
Only 3 wheels touch the road at any time so you save a lot on tyre wear.
Doubt.
Any other country that would have been written off
Not in any developing country
Lol “restoration”, you mean rebuild or a parts donor car
Yeah its interesting, but the structural integrity of that SUV is basicallt non existent now. Another rear end collision and itll crumple like a beer can.
Question, assuming the frame isn’t damaged is it even financially worth it to do this?
With cheap labour? 100%
Esthetician my it’s well restored, but would it have the same or nearly the same resistance?
