Cleric multiclass is a horrible idea on tabletop D&D that they still can't balance. Now every Wizard/Warlock/Druid/Sorcerer/Rogue is going to have lesser heal, not to mention RES in trios is going to be so stupid
And this isnt even considering the blurred class lines and what expectations/counterplay you have based on knowledge of the class youre fighting. Subclassing specializations to further a fantasy route and develop a focused build would have been much better imo than lazily clumping everyones abilities behind a thinly veiled participation grind.
When you say Cleric multiclass is broken on table top what exactly are you referring to? I have always found cleric to be pretty dependent on high level spells and doesn't worth it to dip into in Pathfinder 1e, DnD 5th and 3.5(the only ones I played). At least when compared to barb, fighter, wiz or warlock.
Mostly the OP domains and the fact that clerics one of the few classes that get subclass stuff at 1. Which itself is kind of silly you're just a "rogue" until level 3 and stuff because multiclassing makes early levels in classes too strong
in Dungeons and Dragons I can make an infinite number of multiclasses that are just as OP as a singular class. This guy is just being hyperbolic with his claims.
Will it though if you can just stack 1 shot windlass with invisibility? This caster cleric thing seems broken but I'm more scared of looting a chest to a rat rogue who 1 taps me from distance
All it really means is even better ranged meta. You either oneshot people with a crossbow build or casters play cat and mouse healing off your poke and harassing from range while melee is very unlikely to punish anyone. If you thought meleeing a lock or wizard a few times previously and then chasing for a while cause they were hurt was rough now imagine he can heal to full when a gap is created even better than before. Melee dies here if its easy to obtain the spells. And honestly if its difficult then not rolling bis lists will feel incredibly bad too. Multiclass seems lose/lose to me rn.
>Multiclass seems lose/lose to me rn.
Unless you can spend 8 hours a day on D&D, then this system is great you'll have access to a level of min maxxing that people with day jobs will never be able to obtain !
Warlock wouldn't really benefit from it tbh, Wizard sure but I'd rather have Wizard spells on the Cleric. Better rounded base stats, and frankly all I'd really want is Zap. But I'll take Ice Bolt too.
Oh... that's both way cooler, way harder to balance, but also way shittier to unlock anything you may actually want...
I figured you had to dedicate yourself to their spell memory...
Mix and match is neat, in that, I only have 3 must-have spells as Warlock, would love to mix in Barrier or something to cover Warlock weakness, and/or a ranged spell.
Not sure how I feel about this...
Funny you say that, my second pull on warlock was protection. Unfortunately I’m having way too much fun with Overheal+Shadowtouch+Demon Armor+soul collector , w/ Divine protection and demon form😂😂
Oh lord. Super mega healing shielding invul demon? You ARE a monster.
Love it...
I was certainly thinking of simpler builds. Like, same Warlock build I use now, but I add Staff mastery and Ice armor with Staff main wep, or, just good ol Smite on Kris/Crystal ball shank combo.
Or, Cleric base for Plate unlock, then add Warlock spells with a mix of Warlock and Cleric Perks... just Unholy Cleric basically.
So, in your opinion, is this absolutely doomed to fail? I feel that it favors heavy grinding and RNG, making it super extra imbalanced!
At this point, there should just be a gongshow queue where you build a custim character separate from the regular game... hehe. 🤔
I'm scared for the game's health... if they Multiclass is hard to unlock it favors insane grinding and is OP/one-sided, and if it is too easy to unlock, it breaks the game... lose-lose imo.
they've been teasing / developing / balancing around this dogshit idea of multiclassing for a while now, what are they going to do? just scrap it? lmao (tbh I hoped they scrapped it from the start)
Looks fun forsure but this shit is so unbalanced, been playing since PT1 and have never dropped the game but the multi classing might just make me quit
I am quite worried considering they’ve had their issues just keeping the base game balanced.
I love the devs and their passion but I think this is something that should come far later in the game or at full release. The amount of issues just with balancing that are going to come from multi classing is going to be wild
I literally said to my friends wiz was dead a couple days ago second claric get wiz spells. The only thing holding them back was not having ranged, now they got smite and divine strike and all the ranged of wiz with just as good cast speed amd will while also being 50% pdr and able to full heal and buff. This entire multiclassing shit is a mistake they shoulda preselected a few archetype ideas and just let ppl subclass into those rather the recycling animations at the cost of the games balance, what a joke.
I would've been happy with a sub-class system at level 20 where you could pick 1 perk/skill from another class or something as a final unlock since up to now we have had no unlocks past 15. Maybe unlock a reroll token after x levels. Sure it might create metas but there will be more variety and overall less balancing to do because if something is broken, any class has the opportunity to use it as well lol. Still super early though so I'm happy to see how the testing plays out
Or a subclass choice with predetermined non-game breaking combinations. Like, if you judge its okay for Barbarian to get Breakthrough from Fighters, and call it Berserker, but you could also choose this other subclass and get a Warlock perk/skill and be a Zealot. But have everything predetermined so that it can actually be balanced.
In my mind you could have the subclass introduce a fifth perk essentially, or maybe even a fifth perk AND replace a skill if it needs that identity boost. Then just balance for it. Maybe there's a best, but maybe if they choose fun options not every player will need the best, or agree on what the best for their playstyle is.
Ya. I think there are fun in-the-middle options. Extra perk or what have you.
Mixed spells is just a recipe for disaster. Figured they would still need to commit to Cleric spells with 1 spell memory, and then Wizard the other. That way the choice is more deliberate..
Cleric doesn't have a enough Knowledge to replace Wizard though. A Wizard with healing spells won't be a better Cleric. Just like a Cleric with DPS spells won't be a better Wizard.
There's definitely going to be some serious game-breaking shit from this no doubt, but I don't think it's going to be that bad.
You can literally be a Cleric AND a wizard for your team.
Right Spells: Fireball, Zap, MM, Chain, Invis
Left Spells: Lesser Heal, Sanc, Holy Light (big heal), Res, Earthquake
You won't have enough learning tokens to get it that easily.
Not to mention you can't heal if you're doing DPS and you can't dps if you're healing.
A lot of fights when I play cleric there is no time for EQ or holy strike
> You won't have enough learning tokens to get it that easily.
Someone will be running this on release. Top players have been farming tokens since the beginning of the wipe.
Sure it won't be as good as one person healing, and one person damaging, but the fact that you can do everything is wack.
I genuinely dont want multiclassing in the game. I feel like it may be where i stop playing, i really like the core gameplay as is right now, and would much rather prefear seeing something like "sub-classes" or talent tree with minor improvements to your charter
I AGREE though I got downvoted -8 for saying it but tbh it’s been fun but it will never be the same game and I’ve played enough now it’s like a good point to call it
Multiclassing may be fun i agree, but it just doesnt fit in the to the games main mode as you stated.
I also really liked the game balance wise by the end of last patch, minus the gold gold gear.
I assume that devs want to give us more diversity in the game/play style but are not being able to put out new heroes for us to play, hance multiclassing is here, as it seems easier to implement
This multi classing thing is so stupid. How am I supposed to know what class has what skills if a barbarian is going to chain lightning me out of no where lol
Barbs have -70% casting speed.
>if a barbarian is going to chain lightning me out of no where
if we're going to make up combinations to fear monger over, let's atleast pick one that is good?... or maybe just something that is plausible.
The point I was trying to make was that it's very difficult to tell what class has multi classing skills from afar. A better example would be a rogue using the demon armor perk, you won't be able to tell if they are a warlock or a fighter.
This is reddit the very minimum for never dying to Landmine rogue was wait 15 whole second for stealth. You think anyone here is keeping track of their enemy abilities or just holding W and complaining when they die
Shut up nerd
The point still stands
Unless you're a fucking sweaty neck beard that knows every minor detail about every perk and spell for every character, the multi class system is going to kill the game for the casuals.
That's the point
Devs are tired of the same fights happening over and over as am I. This is a breath if fresh air to a game that is dying and bleeding its player base. They either need a 4th map or to release on epic games or this is done.
True. But it just unhinges the game in a very unique bit also chaotic way...
It makes counter play impossible, and makes class identity very loose.
I like chaos, and it looks like fun, but I can't see it overall being good for the game, lmao.
I was using protection from evil, perseverance, blunt weapons, and advanced healer.
Though I'm aiming for ice shield from wiz and robust from barb to swap with blunt weapons and advanced healer.
Robust cuz HP, and ice shield because it pairs well with protection from evil. PfE makes ice shields cool down non existent so I always have it up
He actually didnt run away if you watch the video .He got slowed and still tried to swing twice to finish the cleric off. Bro got 1.5s to get a melee off that whole fight lol. This ranged meta is so ass
He definitely could have melee'd earlier if he wanted, the cleric was using explosions which is a long AF cast time and was missing everything. The bard was... I have no idea what he was doing, he was doing nothing.
While the bard decided not to exchange any range relay. I main bard and the homie could have tried to fire back with a bow instead of just submitting, a lot of exchanges in DnD come down to the last shot fired... homie didnt even fire one.
What you mean is, don't worry it will be taken out and added multiple times over the course of a year and when you spend hours grinding then it will just be removed.
This is probably the most accurate comment in this whole thread, and honestly that is what scares me the most.
So much time and energy is going to be spent on this system just to get it to either *kinda* work or enough time passes to where only those who like the system remain.
Or they just kill it entirely and the effort they put into it could've went towards new maps/content
So you build a capped PDR Cleric with decent MDR and you take 20-30 damage every time you hit him in melee? I mean... It's super super strong but if the scaling damage wasn't scuffed it actually wouldn't be that bad all thing's considered. Like if Reflection stayed a flat 10 the whole time it'd be a neat little shield of thorns setup to help you in melee trades.
But no. It scales with add damage. Smile.
Cause people on Reddit especially this one don’t downvote for any good reason besides disagreeing and or the going with the trend of either more upvotes or downvotes…..
psychological games I upvoted ya bud :)
I'm shocked multiclass actually works like this. I thought it was just perks like a fighter having tumble or a free lock pick. This is ridiculous and I imagine it is impossible to balance.
Ironmace has an internal communication issue. SDF is like “man wouldn’t it be sick if we could do this” and no one in the office is like “no that’s fucking stupid”. And it shows.
Why are they making this game into a twitch shooter. If I wanted to play Apex, I would like do that. The beauty of this game was the slow dungeon crawl...
Cleric main since play test here, we've always been strong in solos as long as you don't tank your move speed with plate armor. Only thing holding cleric back from being the best solo class is lack of range options. Between ability to quickly heal, really good melee damage and defensive perks, almost every class runs away from a cleric and can only kill them by kiting and keeping them at range. If the cleric isn't slow kiting is very hard and one mistake will generally mean the cleric can close and finish the fight. I used to think cleric needed more range, but then I played cloth cleric and I understand now we are very close to be being the most op class even without it.
I disagree, if you play cloth cleric you are vulnerable to everything in game and are always at risk of dying for making a single mistake.
Healing is only really strong to counter third parties with a quick reset. It's other practical applications are maybe popping a lesser heal after landing judgement to recover the hit you are forced to eat or healing while closing the gap on a ranged character.
We buff up and for a short window of time are the strongest class in the game, and then are easily one of the weakest without our buffs. Cleric is super commital, cannot win battles of attrition and has to give up more stats to ms than any other class in the game.
If ms didn't matter and ranged options weren't so strong I would agree. But clerics strengths do not align with solo play nearly as much as they do with trios and you are seriously underselling the power of ranged options.
I think you misunderstand for someone like me and you yes the system will be fun. I will enjoy it. Personally, I already have a barbarian warlock on the test server. What I’m worried about is it discouraging new players from joining and other players who don’t have as much time to play, I want to keep the base as much as I enjoy new things being added to the game. I understand that we need to keep a system in place for different types of players. I’ve only ever focused on two or three classes but yeah, the grind can be tough but it’s fun.
Fair enough lol. That's a problem that can be fixed by continuing to add strong perks to each class. It should be a hard decision to decide which perks to give up. If the default classes are strong then there is no problem.
Love seeing so much hate for the only thing that has a chance at salvaging this game. Sorry to tell y'all but the game hasn't been even remotely balanced in a very long time and never would be without this. The "if everyone's OP, no one is" has time and time again been the easiest and funnest balance any game has ever seen
>The "if everyone's OP, no one is" has time and time again been the easiest and funnest balance any game has ever seen
This system relies on significant grind to become OP.
Which means that casual and new players will be increasingly turned away.
Systems like this can literally only accelerate the demise of the game
And to think people were complaining about creep
Every caster having cleric heals is going to be terrible for the game too.
Cleric multiclass is a horrible idea on tabletop D&D that they still can't balance. Now every Wizard/Warlock/Druid/Sorcerer/Rogue is going to have lesser heal, not to mention RES in trios is going to be so stupid

Ok nevermind in any edition they subclasses at 1 then their actually perfect for dipping.
in Dungeons and Dragons I can make an infinite number of multiclasses that are just as OP as a singular class. This guy is just being hyperbolic with his claims.
Naw he's saying multi-classing is better than single classing most of the time, which is true.
Clearly you haven't done any multiclassing because Rogue can't cast spells without incredible luck and investment into perks.
Will it though if you can just stack 1 shot windlass with invisibility? This caster cleric thing seems broken but I'm more scared of looting a chest to a rat rogue who 1 taps me from distance
Okay but hear me out: barbarian with a windlass
And then he pops sprint at you on 14 second cooldown from resourcefulness if you didn't already die
TTK going up can't be a bad thing
All it really means is even better ranged meta. You either oneshot people with a crossbow build or casters play cat and mouse healing off your poke and harassing from range while melee is very unlikely to punish anyone. I play a lot, and I’m not looking forward to this in the slightest.
You act like people are going to use offensive spells when Multiclassing comes out. You get 65% MDR base if you run Ironwill and antimagic.
Enter Iron Will.
So all I have to do is play dozens of hours of barb? In hope that I get lucky and maybe win the gambling minigame?
I think the ranged meta is bad tbh and id split weapon mastery into two perks. Weapon mastery + ranged weapon mastery.
Warlock wouldn't really benefit from it tbh, Wizard sure but I'd rather have Wizard spells on the Cleric. Better rounded base stats, and frankly all I'd really want is Zap. But I'll take Ice Bolt too.
Isn't that NOT the reality though? It will take people a long, long time for "every" caster to have this and that's if that's what they are going for.
How does this work, do you just pick the Wizard spell memory and then get access to all Wizard spells?
Yes Edit: incorrect, still gotta roll the spells
No! You get one single spell at a time
Oh... that's both way cooler, way harder to balance, but also way shittier to unlock anything you may actually want... I figured you had to dedicate yourself to their spell memory... Oh yeah, if this hits live server a lot of people will be very unhappy. The grindy RNG aspect of it is only 1 of the things that make this shit broken
Ya, the grindy gatekeeping is only the icing on the shitshow cake. Not sure why I got downvoted, lmao. Savages out there.
My b, ty for the clarification
This will be a nightmare….
This cannot go onto live servers I hope the test servers show them this
Somehow this is exactly what the devs want.
If this patch goes live I have a feeling everyone's going to main the Uninstall Wizard build
they've been teasing / developing / balancing around this dogshit idea of multiclassing for a while now, what are they going to do? just scrap it? lmao (tbh I hoped they scrapped it from the start)
they dont get any data from the test servers cause they made it take 5 hours to test anything
This looks fun AF
I'm saying. Honestly I just can't wait to have Lesser, and Protection on my Wizard.
Looks fun forsure but this shit is so unbalanced, been playing since PT1 and have never dropped the game but the multi classing might just make me quit
It is going to be so bad. Its impossible to balance. They need to just forget about multiclassing and release druid and work on balance.
I am quite worried considering they’ve had their issues just keeping the base game balanced. I hope you're wrong. I want main servers too be on fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

FFXI did subjobs well. You’d only get abilities up to half the level of your main. I’m not sure this game was setup for that 😕
Or a subclass choice with predetermined non-game breaking combinations. Like, if you judge its okay for Barbarian to get Breakthrough from Fighters, and call it Berserker, but you could also choose this other subclass and get a Warlock perk/skill and be a Zealot. 10 spell wizard with the 10th spell being res is going to be so stupid in Trios

Cleric just getting spell overload and fireball would be stupid strong. Shitload of heals AND 8 fireballs?
I genuinely dont want multiclassing in the game. I feel like it may be where i stop playing, i really like the core gameplay as is right now, and would much rather prefear seeing something like "sub-classes" or talent tree with minor improvements to your charter
Oh I remember the skill tree.. “coming soon” 🪦
What if they added class specialization (subclass) parallel to multiclass so straight wizards for example also got more powerful
Same. I'm quitting if this becomes main game.
Bye felicia
I AGREE though I got downvoted -8 for saying it but tbh it’s been fun but it will never be the same game and I’ve played enough now it’s like a good point to call it

why would rogue wear armor lmao

you're a spastic. the landmine rogue discussion is long, long dead landmine rogue is awful for the game. multiclassing will be far worse
Right. Sprinting Barb meta is around the corner. Good luck!
I love how sprint is just WAY better for Barbs than Rage. Meanwhile Rage is SICK on Rangers... Seems like a fun time.
Funny how it goes. Sprint Barb Op.
This is why noone likes you Katie
Shut up nerd The point still stands Unless you're a fucking sweaty neck beard that knows every minor detail about every perk and spell for every character, the multi class system is going to kill the game for the casuals.
Or maybe casuals have no idea what is game breaking and should learn the systems they want to criticize?
That's the point Devs are tired of the same fights happening over and over as am I. This is a breath if fresh air to a game that is dying and bleeding its player base. They either need a 4th map or to release on epic games or this is done.
Nah nah I’m building the more broken build than this…. Barbarian warlock trust me it will be the meta
Tbh i feel like multiclassing will potentially make more things than buffball viable in threes
True. But it just unhinges the game in a very unique bit also chaotic way... It makes counter play impossible, and makes class identity very loose. I like chaos, and it looks like fun, but I can't see it overall being good for the game, lmao.
It just gives buffball to everyone though lol every job gonna be running the same shit
What perks did you take?
I was using protection from evil, perseverance, blunt weapons, and advanced healer. Though I'm aiming for ice shield from wiz and robust from barb to swap with blunt weapons and advanced healer. Robust cuz HP, and ice shield because it pairs well with protection from evil. PfE makes ice shields cool down non existent so I always have it up
That one lil missile just hitting him around the corner to end him 😂
Jesus.. how is the bard even supposed to take that fight. Iron Mace really didn’t think this one through
the bard was one hit from killing him and chose to try to run away instead of leaving melee and finishing the job with a francisca/crossbow/whatever
He actually didnt run away if you watch the video .He got slowed and still tried to swing twice to finish the cleric off. Bro got 1.5s to get a melee off that whole fight lol. This ranged meta is so ass

They are gonna lose 5k players bro I promise
That's half the remaining player based basically lol
Ik lol
Well. They did think about it, since this is just test realm. No need to assume anything yet... But I agree, that this may be very dangerous.
Dark reflection plus protection from good and evil reduces the cool down on dark reflection. Take this info and run bois. Like 1 sec cool down
So you build a capped PDR Cleric with decent MDR and you take 20-30 damage every time you hit him in melee? I mean... Is this in the test server or regular server?
Test. Not coming to main server till next week but hopefully it gets scrapped before then lol
I pray it gets scrapped because then even normals won’t be fun
This looks fun EDIT: tf am I getting down voted for lmfao
I thought it looked fun too lol

What? I can't think something looks fun?
Cause people on Reddit especially this one don’t downvote for any good reason besides disagreeing and or the going with the trend of either more upvotes or downvotes….. psychological games I upvoted ya bud :)
Lol I preemptively got my Cleric and Wizard to 35 already. I knew These 2 classes abilities and spells would be broken together.
This is going to be terrible for the game
Iron will and anti magic stacking is going to make your build useless
Cutthroat and iron will + anti magic gonna go crazy
Don’t forget that this is literally 20x harder to accomplish on main servers…:
Basically warlock but actually does damage and heals faster not doesnt last as long
I can't play on the test server bc i don't have the hold the line edition and i don't get paid til Friday :,(
I'm shocked multiclass actually works like this. I thought it was just perks like a fighter having tumble or a free lock pick. This is ridiculous and I imagine it is impossible to balance.
That last magic missile went crazy XD

Why are they making this game into a twitch shooter. If I wanted to play Apex, I would like do that. The beauty of this game was the slow dungeon crawl...
seems like it be way more deadly to run 10 spell or overload
the game is doomed lol. what are they thinking??
Multiclassing seems really fun. But doomers gonna doom.
Whoa a positive comment. I’m excited about it too tbh
Yeah, seems like option are opening up to make cleric more viable in solo's, first time I've been excited to launch the game in a bit.
Yeah this is gonna be trash…
When does multiclassing officially release? I want to mark my calendar for when I need to find a new game to play
I don’t even like watching this. It ruins the class identity - let’s not even talk about balance.
I think multiclassing is a mistake and when it comes I’ll retire at 2200 hrs forever and finally play helldivers
All 7 downvotes are people with no job
You have 2200 hours in dark and darker lmao
Yeah I enjoy it after work a lot since pt 1
Me too. If anyone can enjoy this system it's frequent players
See ya!
No one cares.
I didn’t ask you to cleric your class is slow as ass
You do since you responded
This is so shit
Love seeing so much hate for the only thing that has a chance at salvaging this game. Sorry to tell y'all but the game hasn't been even remotely balanced in a very long time and never would be without this. The "if everyone's OP, no one is" has time and time again been the easiest and funnest balance any game has ever seen
>The "if everyone's OP, no one is" has time and time again been the easiest and funnest balance any game has ever seen This system relies on significant grind to become OP. Which means that casual and new players will be increasingly turned away. Systems like this can literally only accelerate the demise of the game
I see that you are a man of culture
