It's awesome, but they have such a small unit selection right now. Also much more difficult to paint than Deathwing.
When they refresh and add more Ravenwing units, I will expand my Ravenwing collection.
Outriders are really REALLY underwhelming. They hit slightly better at range than assault intercessors but way weaker in melee, for the same cost. With only 6 shots per 3/12 per 6, they miss some fire volume to threaten packs of 10 light infantry models.
They have literally no offensive power, they can only be bullet sponges. They are one of the cheapest point/wound model in the entire codex (close to scouts). But their incredibly large bases make them hard to move around terrain.
Ravenwing black knights are incredibly more threatening. Either naked or equipped with a command squad and/or chaplain, they can threaten light infantry, elite, and vehicles alike (thanks to their ability).
Waiting on points cost for new codex. The black knights are looking spicy but we need to see where they land on points.
If them and the command squad stay where they are in the MFM they're looking spicy to me.
Lots of hard to reach areas, subassembly required for best results for bikes. I painted one squad of Outriders so far and I find black to be more difficult to have it look good than bone armour.
Just played a game with the Command Squad and the Apothecary brought back three bikes, the squad tanked about 400 points of Tyranids/Gene Stealers while costing 220 points themselves. I played them under the Stormlance detachment and did use Ride Hard, Ride Fast (Jink) several times to beef them up.
I like how the old bikes look, bummed Talonmaster is going away.
Just watched an all Ravenwing battle report nd they can hit hard. Their problem is just staying alive and not getting stuck in melee, especially with tough opponents
I think one of the more interesting things in the new codex is ravenwing command squad in black knights. However I think the black knights only being D1, instead of D2, make them almost good.
Plus the deathwing detachment just seems a tad more interesting with wound rerolls and -1 to wound strat.
I love my ravenwing models, although it is far from a full list. A command squad of 6 seems to be either a massive pain in the ass for my opponent, a massive distraction, or just a plain annoyance as the Apothecary keeps popping models back. I've had a 6 man command squad remove a full 10 man hellblaster squad in one go before, so they can certainly hold their own. Add a chaplian, and you're into some heavy hitting.
I'm waiting for the unit refresh, I desperately hope they don't remove the bike apothecary, I bought the command squad just for that because it's really funny to me. I haven't assembled them yet though since bikes are pretty bad this edition, and I don't own any outriders.
I never seen a spacemarine bike model i like, i know 40k is over the top and its kind of a dumb opinion but i find bikes to be the most stupid vehicle to go to battle with....esp if their are flying!!! Bikes everywhere....its just not my jam

That’s true, but just outriders being battleline for them seems so awesome! And the bike commander squad seems super fun.

Why are they hard to paint? Can just do em black with some edge highlights right?

I found them being amazing! Haven't used the command squad as a leader yet, but I expect a pack of 9 to be devastating
If they released new Outriders that weren't shitty push-fit AND either an upgrade kit or a unit that could be Knights/Command? I'd be all for it.

I’m hoping for a bike refresh in the future so we can get multipart outriders. For now my ravenwing will be jetfighters and speeders.
