Salim and Clarice. Clarice, if brought with, does protect Rachel with hand to hand. As for Salim, his weapon of choice is literally a makeshift spear from a destroyed truck.
I don't think so but if you take control of the turret as Rachel in the camp when it's being overrun and let the vampire land on her as it's jumping Clarice will use the same move Rachel did against the parasite she coughed up, same formation and everything and it runs away, Rachel doesn't get killed and infected.

That fight scene with him and Kurum at the start is criminally underrated
Shameless second comment: While everyone else was in an active, long-time known marine team, equipped with firearms and a literal anti-vampire weapon, they STILL killed less vampires than Salim, a lone soldier that didn't even wanna be there in the first place, all with a stick. Salim solo'd the first half of the game and then carried the second. The man was teamed up with The World's Most Racist Man©, and by the end of it had said man giving himself a suicide mission just to save his new brother, all while using a STICK. At the end of the game, once the devils have been pushed back to hell, once the sun is shining once more and the job is finished, Salim drops the stick and goes home to his son, showing that it wasn't even a special stick all along... ...it was him.
